Blast from the past: Susan Collins on the allegation that Franken had sexually harassed his sleeping colleague on the plane , when he was a comedian, by pretending to grope her breasts, and the first few hands on my back allegations, which Franken denied:
Collins:. "I find the allegations credible, appalling, disgusting, and degrading. Sexual harassment and assault have no place in the workplace. (Calls on Senator Franken to resign)."
No hearings or calls for investigation by Collins, no questioning of the accusers or their credibility, no due process. That was Collins then, and then was not very long ago, though my g-d it sure feels like decades ago already.
And here's one very important distinction between Franken and Kavanaugh: Senator Franken was ELECTED. Collins saw no problem in demanding that a Senator chosen and duly elected by the majority of voters in his state be forced out of his elected office without due process.
K? K has never been elected to any office. He has made political & power connections his entire life, and has been groomed and promoted and protected from the get go on through until today.
He wasn't " entitled" to a SC seat, wasn't elected to the Court, and faced far more serious allegations than Franken ever did. Yet.... Collins believes K was treated unfairly, although he was given the opportunity not only to be heard, but to be coached, to be shielded by both the WH and Senate republicans, and without ever having to be put at risk by having the FBI interview him?
We get it.
