I'm grateful to Dr. Ford for trying to do the right thing for all Americans.

She DID the right thing, at a huge cost to herself and to her family. It isn't her fault that doing the right thing made her someone that the president of the United States, Senate republicans, and the Federalist Society felt entitled to destroy in pursuit of their own ends.

I’ve been reading about how the family of BK is suffering and isn’t this so shameful, horrid, so wrong, and on, and on.... That everyone is hurting him, and his family.
Where is B.K.’s personal responsibility to his family, to the American people? . Why do some believe that he should be exempt from personal responsibility , and above the morals, and standards of the American people. He is responsible for any, and all of the “suffering” his family is going through. His children have been used by him to garner sympathy. It is his fault for what his family is going through, not everyone else.

Just to be clear, I do not believe people should be threatening anyone.

This is also not about any accusations of sexual assault, any longer. THIS IS ABOUT BK LYING! He has lied under oath, AND HIS HORRENDOUS BEHAVIOR was that of a spoiled child, not a S.C. Judge!

He uses his family to show that he is a “family man”, a Christian, a Coach, a Lawyer who graduated from an expensive school, that no average American could ever hope to attend.and therefore in a lot of people minds, he can not be a liar, a drunk, a sexual deviant. These same people forget about men like the BTK Killer, he
was a family man, coach, christian, dedicated to his church, and no one ever suspected that he was a profound LIER, who raped, tortured, and thats only one example.

Even when the FACTS SHOW in his OWN WRITINGS, and HIS OWN words, that he is a profound lier. He has lied to the committee (the commitee acknowledged this), he has led throughout this whole process, and those lies are recorded for anyone who wants to take the time and learn more about B.K.’s lies. Of course if you want to continue to believe and promote the false narrative that you do not believe B.K. lied, that is your choice. However, it is a fact, so no matter how much denying you do, it will not change the facts, or the truth! It will not change the fact, and truth that, Congressman, Senators, B.K.’s friends, and Law professors, have listed his lies, yet we still have to read comments from people who insist, that they do not believe he lied. That is willful ignorance. That does not help this country, when people will turn a blind eye to the continuing lying from those people in power. It is NOT alright for them to lie, and lie, and lie. I was blown away at how little many seem to know as it relates to trauma ( war mass shooting rape etc etc) in that very very rarely are memories of trauma intact.

Stupidly I thought the documentation about PTSD and societies understanding of the illness itself was far more enlightened.

I guess using this criteria folks who come back from war with problems the society can just say you don't remember what happened to you so you get no funding for PTSD treatment.

Come back when you can tell us exactly what happened over there.

I just wanted to very briefly throw in that BK never lied under oath as far as I'm concerned- not about anything in his yearbook, or anything else. I'm a woman, I've been sexually assaulted ( worse than anything Dr. Ford described) and support BK 100%. I'm tired of getting so far down in the weeds it ain't funny any more, nor does it have any value. Peace to all.

He has lied under oath, please take the time and read the transcripts. Even the commitee has said he has lied. No, I will not supply links. There are numerous links throughout this forum, that take you straight to the source. So continually supplying links to these facts, so those whose believe he never lied under oath, or at all, will not read them, is a futile effort. IMO

There are people of many countries who are thankful they do not live in the US and do not understand how anyone can.

That is all too true. After 9/11, working for an international program within the Red Cross, I had occasion to speak with colleagues from around the world, particulary from across all of Europe. The support and sympathy and shock for the US was unceasing and unanimous.

Even in ordinary times, peeps outside the US largely automatically differentiated between a president and Americans as a whole: they could dislike him or his policies, but not transfer that dislike or mistrust to Americans. (Many have always found it remarkable, unfathomable, and sad that the US, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, has the least generous social safety net of any 1st world country).

Trump's election, though, absolutely changed perspectives. It's not just that less than 10 % of the populations of every country in Europe, other than Russia, trust or like trump. It's that large majorities also find it incomprehensible that so many Americans voted for a man who they believe is belligerently xenophobic and hateful; who they saw was willing to mock the most vulnerable and even veterans; who was morally abhorrent in how he treated women; who wanted to take away peep's healthcare rather than make it universal; who was not only a climate change denialist but a man on a mission to worsen the problem, with global consequences; and a man who made it quite clear he wanted to blow up the international institutions undergirding the post WW2 order, and to reduce historic alliances to pay-as-you -go business transactions.

Many concluded that if Americans could elect a president whose agenda was (and is) so antithetical to their own social norms --those of most 1st world countries, then Americans themselves are to be blamed.
Read international publications, follow international scholars and democracy activists, and what you'll hear are increasingly dire warnings that the US is heading full speed down a very dangerous path, both as a failing democracy and as a global actor causing the world to begin uniting against us.

You can find actual proof, some given by Senators (R), Congressmen (R), scholars, lawyers, and judges, who have stated all the reasons, and ways he lied under oath. It is out there, but you have to want to read it, and beleive these very credible people! It does not matter how many links are given, if you do not want this information to be the true facts that they are, than all the links, and verified, factual information will not help in any way, and will continually be ignored. Facts are not facts, truth is not truth any longer, and what you see with your own eyes, isn’t real, only what your told is the real truth with this administation!!! And that is not just my opinion. This is what is actual being told to the American people, by this ADMISTRATION, that hides everything it does, and continually bullies the majority of the American public.

I believe that trump added K to his 3rd shortlist, just after Mueller was appointed, because of Gamble, and because of K's documented belief that the executive IS essentially above the law, at least while in office.

I don't believe, however, that K, after being seated on the SC, will feel obligated whatsoever to trump, or to cast votes that transparently help trump. In fact, given how compromised K already is in the eyes of over half the country & a huge number of attorneys, judges, etc, I wouldn't be surprised if he casts votes during his first term that seek to demonstrate he isn't a partisan, and isn't beholden to trump or to the republicans who broke the Senate to confirm him.

I'm also confident that Chief Justice Roberts is entirely mindful of the threat to the Court's legitimacy that K represents, and I know he is determined to do everything in his power to forestall having the Court's legitimacy further undermined.

Last, I think the comments made by Justices Kagan and Sontomeyer were primarily a message to K, one that can't be said directly to him after he is seated:

"The partisanship you displayed was deeply regretful, and damaging to the Court, in a time when the legitimacy of the Court has never been more essential. But, what's done is done.

Here on the Court, collegiality is valued above all else. No worries, we will greet and treat you with professional courtesy".
