Susan Atkins wants out of jail to die...

I just read somewhere else that her request to be let out of prison to die has been granted.

Well mores the pity. So theres at least a chance the paper work will go through in time. In which case she will get to walk in the rain, go stand at the edge of the ocean and watch the seagulls. Maybe sit on a park bench and eat an ice cream cone. Lucky her.

I don't know if she's going to get to do all those things. I would think (just guessing), that she is beyond that point if her request was granted.

I wouldnt know, you may be right... but for me, its the fact that she might get the opportunity to.

Its the principle of the thing.

All of that can be done with a wheel chair.

For all we know she has a sympathetic Dr who has given a "worse case" time frame for reasons of benefit to her. She may have a year. Or more.

Frankly I dont care if its only a week. Its still more than the baby (Paul) ever got. Thanks to her.

So maybe she'll have a day or two to see and feel and touch all the things she gave up by committing murder.

Sorry...no compassion here. She showed no mercy to her innocent victims. Why on earth should she be shown any, just because she is dying and a born again Christian. She will receive her mercy, hopefully, in Heaven, if she makes it there.

If she killed a member of my family, I don't think I'd have any compassion for her. It's hard to say, but I just don't think I would.

Taximom - I think this is a good point. Remember that Sharon Tate probably still has living family members. Where is the compassion for them? It seems to me that there are still living victims of this girl's crime and before any compassion is extended to her, it should be weighed against the need for compassion to the family of the murder victims. Remember, Sharon Tate was not the only one to die at the hands of this girl and her fellow cultmembers.

I think compassion is a good thing and I also think that her family can visit her in the hospital where she is now located. Letting her out would only be a matter of semantics at this point. So I think there is no point.

In my world, money isn't everything, sometimes there is a bigger picture.

Sharons sister is still alive and keeps the website running, her other sister has passed.

Well boo-freaking-hoo. She wants a "Compassionate Release". I say let her sit in jail. Where was her compassion on Sharon Tate? http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/06/13/manson.atkins/index.html
ok, have not read the whole thread.
is she sentenced for life?
why should she get special treatment - if we make people with that sentence stay in until they die, make her stay in... just from that standpoint, no one gets special treatment. with the overcrowding in jail today, a bed today or a bed tomorrow won't make that much of a difference (just being honest).

....Regardlesss, I hope Susan finds that place in her heart and thoughts in the months she has remaining.

Terrific post. I too hope and believe she can find that place regardless of where she spends her last physical days.

More like hopping. One article says she is missing a leg. I do not know her physical condition, so do not know if she is able to do these things or if she is confined to a bed.

Regardless, she will (unlike Tate - I do understand this) die around those who love her and that is, indeed, as lucky as it gets. It's this sentiment of your post is that is important.

My compassion is disturbing? I'm out of this discussion on that note. You all can hate Susan Atkins and say mean words and so forth about her all you want to to each other. I want no part of the negativity regarding a dying person.

If God cared, he would have taken her home long ago
