Found Deceased Susan Lane-Fournier aka "Phoenix" missing since 11/21/24 - vehicle found on Salmon River Road *Arrest*

Dogs were found in Multnomah County (not Clackamas County, where Phoenix lived and was found).

This is all so tragic.

fills me with rage to know that he killed them too
I wonder if he shot them cause otherwise they probably would've protected their mama and themselves
Probably why she started taking them to work. Didn't trust him. Guessing there were specific threats, he sounds like a real charmer. Not.

No doubt, she would have fought to the death for her dogs and they would have fought to the death to protect her. And now, so they couldn't protect each other, someone murdered all of them.

The good news, if there can be any, is that he created a great big lit arrow pointing at himself. No one else would have killed Susan, her hybrid dogs AND left them in different locations.

Maybe he'll do the universe a favor, plead guilty and take the fast track to media oblivion.

Such a lovely woman. What a terrible loss for her family and community.

I wonder if she took the dogs to work to protect THEM as well as protect herself.

I was aware that a person that is capable of killing their spouse will not think twice about killing animals but I'm still devastated. What was their crime? What did they do to deserve this?

This is all so tragic. A free spirit and her soul dogs dead and a 🤬🤬🤬 locked up for the rest of his life (MOO). It is NEVER worth it! When will they learn?

Would be nice to know the doggies names to stop referring to them as the dogs, mixed breed. Respect for them, they were probably protecting their mom as much as she was trying to protect them. I hope the murderer can also be charged with animal cruelty.
There is sth very rotten in our society, and I hope justice will be served.

May you RIP with your mom sweethearts

“The word in the community was that she was afraid to serve him (divorce papers) because she was afraid something like this would happen," said DT, who met Susan once.

Along with the dogs, Susan also had birds at home — four finches and one parakeet — according to VA, who rescued the birds from the home Sunday morning.

Lane-Fournier, 61, was originally reported missing on Nov. 22. On Nov. 29, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office confirmed it had found her remains at a location near Highway 26 and East Miller Road.

Authorities arrested her estranged husband, 71-year-old Michel Fournier, accusing him of killing her.

Lane-Fournier leaves behind two adult sons, J and D Lane. During Monday's vigil, J shared the story of his mother's nickname, "Phoenix" — a mythical creature that rises from its own ashes. He said the name stemmed from a difficult period in her life when Lane's father was killed in a car crash.

"I remember her collapsing on the ground," Lane said. "I remember it shaking her to the core. I remember her now being a single mom trying to take care of two kids."

“I’ve never seen people rise up like this. I think this is just Phoenix’s energy, for sure, like she’s touching people that don’t even know her and people are being inspired by her and want to support the community and her friends and family that are hurting right now,” Prudence said.

Kamahwee told KATU that he remembered that Susan was scared for herself. She was so scared for her dogs that she would bring them to work.

“Before she went missing, she brought in the dog with her, and they were in the parking lot. She was worried or afraid for her dogs as well,” said Kamahwee.

Just been reading about this case - what a sad sad case.

My thoughts go out to Phoenixs children and friends.

It sounds like she was actually more fearful for the dogs than herself - i wonder if they were the intended target and she tried to protect them? (That would explain the ill thought out place to dump her body MOO)

I guess if her dogs were divorcing him I might think that was part of the reason....... But they weren't and I don't......

A Clackamas County judge traveled to the jail to arraign Michael Fournier after a second day of technical difficulties at the courthouse

OREGON CITY, Ore. (KATU) — The man accused of killing his wife late last month pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge during his arraignment on Tuesday.

In court documents obtained by KATU News, the state alleges that on or about Nov. 22, the day Susan was reported missing, Michel Fournier "did unlawfully and intentionally cause the death of Susan Marie Lane, another human being." The state also alleges that the offense constitutes a crime of domestic violence.
