He just wants to cry because he is realizing that his so called "perfect" murder is starting to unravel. True, very slowly, but like a piece of thread that is twisted, eventually, with time, it unravels until their is nothing left.

I saw a street sign in his garage. Uh, Drew? Chief wants that back, I think.

Susan
Hahahahaha! Someone needs to find that photo and send it to the Chief! That IS theft of public property for certain if it is a bonified street sign! Good catch! (Unless it is one of those signs you can buy that says something like: Harley Parking.)

The mouthpiece speaks about the Chief's statement via email to Greta.

In response to Bolingbrook Police Chief McGury’s comments after my appearance on your show on December 3, 2007, let me say this. First, Chief McGury states that misuse of the department databases is a Class 3 felony under Illinois law. Then he states that he fired a dispatcher for misuse of the data base. Why did Chief McGury let this dispatcher get away with committing a Class 3 felony? Why did he only choose to fire that dispatcher, and not seek prosecution. Does Chief McGury commonly give Class 3 felons a pass? And if he gave the Dispatcher a pass, why is he now targeting Mr. Peterson for prosecution the same offense? There is something wrong with his story.

LOL, it's called confusing the issue. If he says it is the computer searches enough time, maybe people will believe.

From Greta's:

I just got this email from OTR Producer Kerry O’Connor on the ground in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

From: O’Connor, Kerry
Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2007 8:10 PM
To: Van Susteren, Greta; Cooper, Meade
Subject: …

***** emailed me directly, ** says ** just found out that the canal in the
area is being closed off so that divers can search for the next 24
hours. We already have about an inch of snow right now, so I don’t know
how much searching they can do in these consitions. It’s getting pretty
bad.

What a bunch of hooey and spin :slap:
He knows it's up to the DA to decided whether to file criminal charges, ultimately. We've had several cases in our agency where we've terminated employees and recommended criminal charges be filed. Sometimes the DA does...and sometimes they don't.

Good try to deflect...

It looked like a speed limit sign to me. could only see a bit more than half of it because of all the other junk in there.

Does anyone have an idea what clue led to this search of the canal?

NO HOLIDAY CHEER FOR PETERSON
Bolingbrook Police Pension Board attorney Richard Reimer told NBC News that he's dealt with other cases in which officers have been accused of using police computers to conduct background searches. He says doing so is considered "official misconduct," which is a felony, and can be used as grounds for revoking an officer's pension.

Such a move would probably be welcomed by Bolingbrook Police Chief Ray McGury, who stated he wanted Peterson fired rather than to allow him to retire with full benefits. When the fire and police commission accepted Peterson's resignation from the police force, securing his retirement, it was McGury that forwarded his internal investigation of Peterson to the Will County State Attorney's Office in the hope that criminal charges would be brought against him.

The only real clue I have heard of is the possibility this is the area where a cell phone pinged. I haven't heard if it was Stacy's or Drew's tho. LE's theory is also he dumped the body near Rossetto's house in Shorewood in an attempt to frame him.

The area of the search is no where near Shorewood. It is much closer to Bolingbrook

I saw that sign also - it said "25" on it probably could be bought anywhere. Drew turned in his uniform today.

About the search area - Kerry O'Connor said on the Gretacast that the area they were searching was very close to Steve Rosetto's house and about 10 miles from Drew's - don't know if she has it right, but that may be why they are searching that area (they think Drew was trying to frame Steve as speculated or the cell phone pings were from that area) .

It's 15 miles from Bolingbrook to Shorewood. Less if you consider the south end of Bolingbrook. So relatively speaking, the area they are searching is not near Shorewood. I suppose you could consider anywhere in this area to be "close" to Shorewood, but considering the relative distance, I wouldn't say this was a place to dump a body in an attempt to frame Rosetto.

It is more like a location that was a good alternative considering he didn't have time to complete his original plan. This is a very hard location to search, plus it is somewhere he could dump quickly, without being gone long, and without being seen.

From the timeline thread it appears that Drew stashed the container somewhere for a time. Cassandra reporting him out of breath and hearing keys go into the ignition. Then the cars appear about 2:30 in the morning after being absent when she was there at 11 PM. He had help..no question about that.

Could it be that he and his help start scouting for a trucker at 3:30 AM but get rebuffed and then decide the canal is the best and easiest way to dispose of the body? He may have tried by cell phone pings to set someone else up but the truckers foiled his plans.

I think the sonar equipment spotted something important or these resources wouldn't be going in that direction. Could be to get to the container dumped cars will have to be moved.
