SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

Thankfully the police reacted with such a quick response. Did anyone else notice how bad that mask looked? It wasn't very convincing but given all of the time and effort put into his "disguise" I would think it wouldn't be hard to follow the money trail to find out if he was acting alone or with others or would it be?

I think it was a deliberate choice to make himself look creepy, rather than disguised - it offered some disguise, but it also allowed people to see his ghastly scary face through that thing. Those masks are terrifying.

An actual mask with eye holes really limits vision and breathing. I can't imagine wearing a latex mask. His was described as the "Old Man" latex mask, available on Amazon. I wonder if he thought it would cause witnesses to be fooled from a distance.

Local news story, nothing new except a capture/arrest photo I don't think I've seen before.

Holding back comment.

He really looks remarkably clean and recently shaven for a dude recently on the run and sleeping nearish to his marital home. The line (BBM) "Prosecutors say around 7 a.m., Boelter met up with the unidentified man at a bus stop in north Minneapolis" makes it sound like a prearranged meetup, although the end of the story says it's not. Maybe it's just me, but when I've been at a bus stop, I've never struck up a conversation with someone that led to either of us buying and/or selling motorized vehicles. Interesting.

According to an affidavit filed by an FBI special agent, law enforcement pulled over Boelter’s wife and four children hours after the shootings on Saturday near Lake Mille Lacs. His wife told investigators they were going to visit friends after her husband posted in a family group text “they needed to get out of the house and people with guns may be showing up.”

The affidavit states Boelter’s wife told the investigator they were “preppers,” meaning they “prepare for major or catastrophic incidents.” She says her husband gave her a “bailout plan,” including a directive to go to her mother’s home in southwestern Wisconsin.

She also told investigators her husband “has a business partner from Worthington” who lives in the state of Washington. She allegedly said the two were “partners … in Red Lion, a security company and fishing outfit in Congo, Africa,” the affidavit states.

Detectives sweep Hortmans’ neighborhood again

Brooklyn Park police say detectives are again canvassing the area of the Hortmans’ home near Edinburgh Golf Course on Friday “for any additional evidence related to the homicides” and Wednesday’s break-in at their home. Police say “there is no danger to the public.”

WCCO’s Sky 4 helicopter spotted law enforcement gathered at a pond on the golf course, with drivers searching the waters.

Snipped and BBM. "It's a security company. It's a fishing outfit" sounds like IMO an SNL commercial parody. I think we're going to be discovering many more layers of what VB was up to.

I'm from the other side of the Atlantic entirely, but even I can see that if you live in Sibley County, MN and want to get to southwestern Wisconsin, you don't drive half the way to the Canadian border in order to do so.

I suppose being preppers would explain why they had a large amount of cash in the house, though.

In a rambling, conspiratorial letter addressed to the FBI, alleged assassin Vance Boelter claimed he needed to kill U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar so that Gov. Tim Walz could run for the U.S. Senate, according to two people familiar with the contents of the letter.

The letter is the clearest evidence yet of Boelter’s mindset after the targeted violence against Minnesota politicians last week. It is incoherent, one and a half pages long, confusing and hard to read, according to two people familiar with the letter’s contents. It includes Boelter alleging he had been trained by the U.S. military off the books, and that Walz, who is not running for Senate, had asked him to kill Klobuchar and others.

Walz’s spokesman, Teddy Tschann, said in a statement Friday afternoon that “this tragedy continues to be deeply disturbing for all Minnesotans.”

“Governor Walz is grateful to law enforcement who apprehended the shooter, and he’s grateful to the prosecutors who will ensure justice is swiftly served,” Tschann said.

Klobuchar couldn’t immediately be reached for comment late Friday afternoon.
She was not the only other politician named; the letter included a seeming reference to U.S. Sen. Tina Smith

Not that the conspiracy theorists need any more help.

What's the law in the USA with regards to the insane being found guilty of murder?

Four dozen guns, 5 body bags and a second police vehicle found in search of Boelter property

When VB’s wife was pulled over she had $10k in cash on her and almost $18k in cash was found in their home during the search warrant. All the cash, a nice home/property, guns and numerous vehicles. So far, I haven’t seen record of a job that supports this lifestyle. Where did the money come from? Things aren’t adding up IMO.

I’m very curious about the money trail too. I initially thought they had sold previously owned real estate and lived off the proceeds, but not so sure now. When they lived in WI I did see an email address in public records that links to her from a college. I think she was an employee there, not a student, JMO. But that was years ago, looking forward to learning more about this aspect.

Five.

The most recent story IIRC said his wife was stopped, with four of the children. Presuming those four were still living at home. 4 + 1 = 5

No body bag for him.

Perhaps thst is less about family annihilation and a prepper readiness kit? In case you have loss of life during the stand off or in the bunker, then you're prepared, with a smell containment system? Last guy standing doesn't need one, no one to be bothered, no one to zip it.

This appears to be guy who has pony been marginally successful in life who believes he has intellectual property to save the country/planet but can't catch a break (in his mind) but feels qualified and competent and RIGHT. Because he'd been on Governor task forces, he sees himself as an insider, an agent.

Going to War. Except, army of one, the rest is just a construct he's been building in his head, while assembling an arsenal in his fortress.

I wonder if his family knew he quit his job in February.

And as been playing Special Ops, team of one ever since.

With deadly results.

Is a body bag a standard item in a prepper’s toolbox? Never heard of that particular thing if so. The groups I follow are more along the lines of homestead types, who focus on foodstuff, power supply, herbal medicines, animals, etc.
