A former appointee of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is being sought in connection with the assassination of a state lawmaker and the shooting of another, police sources said.

Vance Luther Boelter allegedly posed as a police officer when he shot Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in their Champlin home early Saturday, leaving them seriously injured before moving on to former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman’s house — where he is believed to have slaughtered her and her husband, sources told The Post.

I was wondering if it’s his own company? I found it weird that he was ‘open’ to CEO/president positions at other companies.

The list included US Rep. Ilhan Omar and US Sen. Tina Smith. Gov. Tim Walz was also on the list, in addition to Attorney General Keith Ellison. Dozens of other Democrats from Minnesota were also included on the suspects list, sources said.

He brings a great security aspect forged by both many on the ground experiences combined with training by both private security firms and by people in the U.S. Military.’

I wonder if any of this is true? I have no idea at this point, he could be totally fabricating. MOO

Some details:

The two shooting locations are a few miles away from each other in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, just north of Minneapolis.

Hoffman and his wife were shot around 2 a.m. in Champlin, Superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Drew Evans said.

After Hoffman was shot, officers were heading to pro-actively check on Hortman when they encountered the suspect at Hortman's home around 3:35 a.m., Evans said.

The officers found a person who was dressed as a police officer -- wearing a vest and a badge, and with a Taser and other equipment -- at the door, coming out of Hortman's house, police said.

The suspect fired at the officers; gunfire was exchanged and the suspect was able to escape and flee on foot, authorities said.

The suspect's vehicle -- which looked like a police vehicle, including police lights -- was in Hortman's driveway, authorities said.

The list included dozens of other Democrats from Minnesota, including Gov. Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sen. Tina Smith and Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the matter.

Law enforcement officials are looking into whether the suspect may have been motivated by extreme views on abortion, the sources said.

Security resources have been dispatched to protect those people named on the list, authorities said.

Incredibly fortunate that law enforcement proactively responded to that second shooting site, and were able to engage the suspect. It's clear to me that he intended to climb back in his car and move on to his next targets.

Now that he's likely on foot, I can't imagine this will go on much longer.

I hope he hasn't taken a hostage and managed to get into a home before residents in the area knew about the danger of opening their doors to a lone person dressed as a police officer.

LE is urging people in the area to call to check on family and friends in the area. And also not to open their doors to anyone who is alone and claiming to be a police officer, as authentic LE are travelling in pairs now.

MOD NOTE: This really needs to be a criminal and not a political thread, so we don't have to shut it down.

Suffice it to say - "No Kings" flyers were found in his car. "No Kings" protests were planned for today. We don't know if the shooter was for or against the "No Kings" protests.

Some WS members will like and/or be at those protests. Some will not. If we bring it to the thread, a bunch of people will get all mad and make the mod team sit here and delete every other post and put a bunch of people on timeout. We don't have a large enough mod team to do that, and we don't like putting people on timeout (though you may think we do ;)).

So . . . "No Kings" is not up for discussion at this time. Nor is ascribing red or blue to this person without a lot more info.

I think it's worded badly and should say she and her husband were shot by the suspect, VB.

Hopefully you are right.
The fact that they know who he is hopefully means he can't go and regroup at his business facilities (if he does in fact have any).
