I saw a pic on an out of country site of the entire family- it looks to be several years old. If so, all of his kids are teenagers and up.

This presser should have been led by law enforcement. It's the single most important group of people; not politicians offering condolences. They should go last.

I’m blown away that they don’t lead with the lead… it is search for an armed man allegedly to have murdered two people and attempted to murder two others, not to mention shot at LE and has a hit list.
He’s been at large for over 36 hours- early Sat AM

You would think they would assure people that ALL the 70 persons on the list have been located and notified. That would seem pretty important as it is an ongoing threat.

LE said the family is cooperating. I hope his children can insulate themselves from online comments insinuating they are involved.

Glad his wife called in to the news station to say she hadn’t been arrested. imo

This presser should have been led by law enforcement. It's the single most important group of people; not politicians offering condolences. They should go last.

I hear you- it's frustrating when we want to hear how the manhunt is going.

But the community at large needs to respond to this tragic crime in the most healing and unifying way possible. The best way to do this is to open with the victims, make sure they stay humanized, and make sure the community at large does not become an indirect victim by being broken apart rather than brought together. That is how the presser should open IMO. And, IMO, the persons suited to do this are leaders of municipalities.

The leaders emphasize the importance of the victims and the resilience of the community. They talk about how the community as going to get through this, and, as it is a crime, the community will largely get through by working with and supporting our community LE. Once that is established, cue LE for updates on the manhunt and collecting evidence of crime is LE's role.

After LE explains what they are doing, they give information about how to stay safe and how to help.

I think the presser was given in the correct order. It should have been community leader-centered IMO. It just perhaps went a little long with each step.

I'm with you. I absolutely hope his wife and children aren't aligned with his goals.

And, presuming they are not, I hope they are safe and find a way through the challenges ahead.

Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman was injured by nine bullets and is getting “closer every hour to being out of the woods” as he undergoes surgeries, his wife said in a statement from the hospital Sunday.

Yvette Hoffman, who said she took eight bullets herself, told Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) in a text message that the couple was “incredibly lucky to be alive.” Hoffman told Klobuchar that she could share the statement, which the senator posted to Instagram on Sunday evening.

Hoffman said she and her husband were “gutted and devastated” to hear that veteran state Speaker Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, had been killed in Saturday’s attack.

“We have no words,” Yvette Hoffman wrote. “There is never a place for this kind of political hate.”
