SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

  • #1,081
Boelter's wife, Jenny, issued a statement through her own lawyers Thursday saying she and her children are “absolutely shocked, heartbroken and completely blindsided,” and expressing sympathy for the Hortman and Hoffman families. She is not in custody and has not been charged.

“This violence does not align at all with our beliefs as a family," her statement said. "It is a betrayal of everything we hold true as tenets of our Christian faith. We are appalled and horrified by what occurred and our hearts are incredibly heavy for the victims of this unfathomable tragedy.”

Hm, she's blindsided but was found with a bunch of cash, passports, and weapons in her vehicle.

She also told investigators her husband "has a business partner from Worthington" who lives in the state of Washington. She allegedly said the two were "partners … in Red Lion, a security company and fishing outfit in Congo, Africa," the affidavit states

Ah yes, the security company with zero employees and zero contracts.

He was also an appointee to the Governor's Workforce Development Board in Minnesota. The governor's website listed Boelter as a "business and industry representative," and his appointment was from 2019-23, according to USA TODAY.

I wanted to clear up that the position Vance held had zero to do with politics. He was appointed by the former gov on his way out, not Walz.

Also the same article:
Under his profile on the company website it says "Vance has been involved with security situations in Eastern Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, including the West Bank, Southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. He brings a great security aspect forged by both many on the ground experiences combined with training by both private security firms and by people in the U.S. Military. He has worked for the largest U.S. oil refining company, the world's largest food company based in Switzerland and the world's largest convenience retailer based in Japan."

This all seems to be largely false, with some tiny truth nuggets dropped in. Vance seems to either THINK he is the best or desperately WANTS to be the best at every single thing. The world's largest, blah blah. Yet he managed a 711 store and this security company had no customers whatsoever.

Not a huge NY Post fan, but:
Boelter calls himself the CEO of Red Lion Group on his LinkedIn page, where he lists the company’s home base as the Democratic Republic of Congo. But besides the passing reference, virtually no information is available about the company.

“His dream was to have a security company,” Carlson said, hinting that his dream was more rooted in delusion than reality.

“He never was or never had a security company. He wasn’t doing security for anybody — it wasn’t his job.”

Carlson noted that Boelter even had two official cars for the alleged company despite having “no clients [and] no employees.”

His bio on Red Lion Group’s since-deleted website said he worked with Minnesota Africans United, a statewide organization helping African immigrants in the state. However, the organization told The Post it never hired, paid, or contracted with Boelter, and that he never served in any official or unofficial capacity in the organization.

In a now-deleted post from last month, Boelter wrote on LinkedIn that he had just returned after a three-year stint in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was looking for work in the food service industry.

This is domestic terrorism and isn't being taken seriously enough.
Wondering where Vance got money to own multiple houses & take care of his family as a convenience store manager and "eyeball extractor"

I absolutely agree about the domestic terrorism aspect and it not being taken seriously enough.

I was also wondering about the funding for his ventures; do either he or his wife have family wealth perhaps? All the money came from somewhere and I doubt even a high level or regional manager for a convenience store is in that range.

I suspect we will find out there is a lot more that ole Vance was up to.

Minnesota abolished its death penalty in 1911. The Death Penalty Information Center says a federal death penalty case hasn’t been prosecuted in Minnesota in the modern era, as best as it can tell.

Boelter also faces separate murder and attempted murder charges in state court that could carry life without parole, assuming that county prosecutors get their own indictment for first-degree murder. But federal authorities intend to use their power to try Boelter first.

"On behalf of my children and myself, I want to express our deepest sympathies to the Hortman and Hoffman families," Jenny Boelter said in a statement released by her attorneys on Thursday. "We are absolutely shocked, heartbroken and completely blindsided."

"It is a betrayal of everything we hold true as tenets of our Christian faith," she continued. "We are appalled and horrified by what occurred and our hearts are incredibly heavy for the victims of this unfathomable tragedy."

Boelter, wearing a padded, full-body green garment with Velcro holding it around his shoulders, appeared in court on Friday for a preliminary hearing and a detention hearing.

The detention hearing was meant to determine if Boelter would be eligible for bail, but his attorney asked for the hearing to be continued to next week.

The judge then moved Boelter's preliminary and detention hearings to July 3 at 2:30 p.m. No other rulings were made.

During the hearing, Boelter said, "Your Honor, I haven't really slept in 12-14 days," adding that "I am not suicidal now… never been suicidal."

Boelter's defense attorney is asking that Boelter be moved to a segregation unit, but not suicide watch. He is currently in custody at the Sherburne County Jail.

Boelter entered the Edward J. Devitt Courtroom in the St. Paul Federal Courthouse for his preliminary examination and detention hearing wearing what is called a "pickle suit" or "Gumby suit," a blanket-like apparatus used for prisoners who are on suicide watch.
...
She [Boelter's attorney] described Boelter as sleep deprived, and said communicating with him has been difficult. The defense also asked that Boelter be taken off suicide watch so he can wear a regular jail uniform, calling it more "dignified" than the Gumby suit.

awe, hasn't slept in 12-14 days. Not enjoying his accommodations? I doubt he hasn't slept for two weeks at all. More likely not getting good uninterrupted sleep. if he hadn't slept in 14 days straight he would be in deep psychosis by now. Psychosis would start to show up around 96 plus hours with no sleep whatsoever. MOO

Sleep Deprivation Stages (and How To Avoid Them)

MOO He's not suicidal. Homicidal, yes. Suicidal, no. But if he is claiming not to have slept in 12 to 14 days I can see why he might continue to be on suicide watch. True sleep deprivation of that sort is a serious health issue. VB was apparently coherent enough to express himself before the court.

I have zero sympathy.

IMO, there are hundreds of thousands of preppers and the (somewhat paranoid) idea is that other people will cause the apocalypse/crash of civilization. They are not intending to cause it themselves.

I wonder if his wife and any family members have shown up.
I haven’t seen any reporting that his wife was there.

Interesting that she released a statement yesterday….the day before he was headed to court and would be in the news again.

And there are some who DO want to cause it.

The Hortmans, and presumably their dog too, were laid to rest this afternoon. Gov. Walz was a pallbearer.
