Can a local please describe the area? I know Jackson is a city but surrounding areas might be sparsely populated - how thick are the woods. I’ve seen people mention poison ivy, very hot (humid?) - are there snakes or dangerous animals? Do kids hunt there, could he have survival youth experience?

I’m trying to understand how someone who has spent so many years in prison, is managing to survive with I don’t know how many LE aggressively looking, all the tech LE has plus canine search teams & not to mention the community - even people outside the US are looking!!! How is he evading capture? He’s in areas with ring cameras!
Except for Jackson, the surrounding towns are small and rural. It is hot and very humid, although this week has been much cooler and more tolerable than when the murder occurred, and when the baby was dropped off. A lot of kids do hunt, but my bet is that AD was never one of those kids. There are poisonous snakes (cottonmouth) but they are typically around bodies of water. Yes, poison ivy is abundant but not everyone is allergic to it. Many residents have guns and know how to use them and would if their families were threatened.
Jackson has a lot of wooded areas. The location in which he has been sighted has a more rural feel to it, although it's considered the city. Union University has a wooded trail area and this is just one of the places that was extensively searched all day. I'm sure all the agencies are working around the clock. Here is a link to the university's trail system:

I swear, he could stroll through the TBI's headquarters in broad daylight wearing a name tag and they'd still manage to miss him somehow.

It's almost as if the TBI expects the public to do their job for them and deliver him to them on a silver platter.
I disagree. Tennessee has around 12M people living in it. TBI has roughly 700 employees total. including forensics, administrative, clerical, etc., and they have a lot of different responsibilities, including investigating officer involved shootings all over the state.

If there is anyone I'm surprised by it's the US Marshals. Their whole job is to provide security for federal judges, transport prisoners, WITSEC and, oh yes, to find fugitives. Remember Tommy Lee Jones? "I want a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse, and doghouse in that area" It was reported within 48 hours that the Marshals were involved.

I wonder who is actually in charge of this search and if there are any jurisdictional conflicts.

Gang Signs?
Exactly, these former ‘gang’ signs are now used by preteens and teens all over the place.
It has become as a popular as saying ‘cheese’ to smile for the camera.
They are clueless those signs once had meaning, or may still have meaning, for gangs.

IMO
Yes, my 12 year old granddaughter sent me a selfie with a face full of attitude and a sign. It's ridiculous, but I haven't decided if it's harmless or not.

I would be absolutely petrified if I was living in that area. Are these videos all from the same church or has he been trying several? Why doesn’t LE have eyes on all these kinds of buildings there?

Yes, I would be armed and ready myself.
He was in prison and doesn’t want to go back.
Aggravated Robbery- Held up a convenient store, pointed a gun in the clerk’s face, got away with $40, sentenced to over 10 years prison. Released Sept ‘24
Released on bond after murder charge while in prison
He has a long list of legal issues while in prison, gang member

Law & Crime reported on this case yesterday.
Drummond evidently has claimed he would go after jury members and the victim from his last trial!

As desperate and dangerous as they come!

Where is Dog the Bounty Hunter?

IMO

@TBInvestigation

CAPTURED! #TNMostWanted fugitive Austin Drummond is now in law enforcement custody, after having been caught in Jackson. We'll provide more details soon, but a hearty thanks to the public for staying vigilant these past few days.

WHEW! I set up the email newsletter late last night and was really on the fence about including a line that Drumond was "still at large" but didn't want to send out old news knowing he would probably be caught by the time people read the email!

WOOOT !!!!!
Thanks to LE and a vigilant public.
Took a bit longer than I'd suspected after that CC footage, but better late than never.
Surprised his gang members didn't hide him, but too bad so sad -- maybe don't choose that lifestyle, eh, Austin ??
Imo.
I don't live in that state and I feel safer anyway !

The surviving victim in his first crime can breathe a sigh of relief.

Justice is coming for the lives he took !

I think we just got the answer to your question - he was apprehended by US Marshals.

Quadruple murder suspect in custody after sighting in Jackson, Tennessee
They got him!

EBM:
Living in Tennessee, this has been a stressful time. This guy went from one side of the state to the other and was somehow missed. If he took the interstate, he was within 20 miles from where I live. Watching the video of him turning door knobs gave me chills, because I can only imagine what could have happened if he had found an unlocked door to someone's home. Hopefully this time the justice system will keep him locked up for the rest of his natural life......WITHOUT the perks he was receiving while incarcerated previously.

Maybe now, the families can get some answers and closure.
