I think he may have confirmed that she is dead. If he’s getting rid of evidence, it stands to reason Brad told him what it was for. I think they’ll flip him and he’ll be a major part of any murder charges.

The Texas Rangers and the OPPD arrested Mr. James Vallee Cotter at his home yesterday," said DPS Sergeant Deon Cockrell. "During the Missing Person investigation in Olmos Park, investigators learned that Mr. Cotter had committed the offense of Tampering with Evidence, which is a 3rd Degree Felony. Mr. Cotter is a business associate of Mr. Brad Simpson, husband of Suzanne Simpson, who has been missing since 10-07-2024. We will not comment further on the ongoing."

On Tuesday, the CLEAR Alert issued for Suzanne Simpson issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety was discontinued, as Olmos Park Police declared the search now a recovery effort.

Jail records also showed Cotter faced a felony charge of possession of prohibited weapons, but Cotter’s updated booking page had the charge removed as of Tuesday afternoon.

A law enforcement source told KSAT Tuesday Cotter is accused of helping Brad Simpson hide a weapon possibly tied to his wife’s disappearance case.

More than two weeks after Suzanne Simpson disappeared from her Olmos Park neighborhood, her jailed husband faces additional charges.

Brad Simpson, 53, was arrested shortly after his wife went missing, accused of unlawful restraint and assault after a neighbor saw them arguing the night of Oct. 6. Jail records indicate Brad now also faces charges of prohibited weapons and tampering/fabricating evidence.

"If you're in Bandera, can you haul 🤬🤬* to meet me at your house?" Brad allegedly texted his partner, James Vallee Cotter, on Oct. 8, just one day after he reported his wife missing. "I don't have much time."

The documents say Cotter agreed to hide the machine gun at his San Antonio home, concealing it in the wall of his home. When authorities searched Cotter's home Monday, records say, an ATF K-9 team helped locate where exactly the gun was.
The firearm had a string attached to its sight that would allow it to be retrieved "out of the void" in the wall, according to the documents.

Trying to be practical here…… but that discontinued alert message above is at ~2:27 pm, presumed to be CST in Texas? The arrest of that former business partner’s son seems just slightly earlier? Maybe something broke loose in the case with that investigation and arrest? Need a fingers crossed emoji. MOO

Wouldn't that make him liable for accessory to murder in acknowledging her death and then hiding the apparent murder weapon?

Discontinuing the missing alert....was there a chance in the investigators' minds that she could still have been alive?
Now that it's a recovery effort, the above could mean they still don't know where she is though.
I would think they had to get official evidence to confirm otherwise even if it was suspected.

Do we have the address where Cotter was arrested?

Were any recovered weapons fired (say- about almost 11 times)

GSR tests performed for either arrested individual and all family members done?

Mighten’ a body have been “disposed” of closer to Cotters house than Olmos Park?
(and is that along the route to the Towers Shopping where/next to which the LE originally had reason to search)?

I tend to think he was just hiding the gun bc the husband knew arrest was coming and didn’t want to get caught with a known illegal weapon. I don’t think that weapon was actually used to kill her. But we’ll see. All IMO only.

You may be right.

An illegal weapon charge is the least of BS problems IMO though.

Control freaks like him may leave the weapon to be found if it was not involved and let LE spend weeks or months testing it to come up empty.

I think BS trusts his partner very much as they have done very dodgy stuff together in the past and have had each others backs before.

BS must be sweating bullets now though, hoping his friend is not about to crucify him to save his own backside.
