Just read about this case in Sweden and managed to find this link in English as well:

“Police are looking for 31-year-old Maline who has disappeared in Landskrona.

It is suspected that she may have been the victim of a crime.

– We can not rule it out, says Rickard Lundqvist at the police in the southern region.

The police need help finding a missing person in Landskrona and the surrounding area.

It is 31-year-old Maline who is reported missing by a relative after she has not been seen or heard from. The latest observation of her was made on Föreningsgatan in Landskrona early in the morning of 23 December.

– It is at 4 o’clock in the morning, says Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesperson for the police in the southern region.”

A picture of her is attached in the link below:

I’m afraid I couldn’t select “Sweden” as a prefix…

Via Google translate:

“31-year-old assistant nurse Maline has been missing for five days. Now the search continues on several fronts. During the day, the police plan to search a place outdoors with dogs.
- It is a place that has become interesting in the investigation, says Kent Persson, police commissioner.

31-year-old assistant nurse Maline was reported missing on December 23.
Anxious relatives had then entered her apartment in central Landskrona and suspected that something had happened.
- The last time we have for when she was alive is at 04:00 on the morning of December 23, says Commissioner Kent Persson.
After that, there is no information about where Maline went.

The police have classified the disappearance as a suspected kidnapping - that is, Maline did not disappear of her own free will.

… On Tuesday, the police will conduct an outdoor search in a previously secret location in the Landskrona area.
- This is information that has emerged in the investigation and that we want to control, says Kent Persson.

Among other things, a number of the police's search dogs will take part in this work. The work will be carried out until dark on Tuesday. At the same time, the voluntary organization FIKK Sweden's search work is ongoing in Landskrona. On Monday, about a hundred volunteers participated in the operation and operation leader Annika Sigurdsson hopes for as many on Tuesday.”

A little more info in this article from a friend of hers (google translate Swedish). Unfortunately I have no idea if this is verified though, so need to keep that in mind:

The friend: "Very different from her"
One of the many who searched for Maline throughout Christmas is Rebecka Kainulainen. At lunchtime she warmed herself in the restaurant for a while.

- I'm very worried. Maline is my best friend, says Rebecka Kainulainen.

Rebecka Kainulainen is most concerned that Maline's phone was found in her apartment. It's not like her.

- She always has her phone with her. So it's very different from her. We used to be heard every day, Rebecka Kainulainen.

"Looking forward to the Christmas party"
She and Maline had plans together for Christmas. On December 23, on Christmas Eve, they would have gone to a Christmas party. Maline was supposed to work on Christmas Eve.

- She has been looking forward to the Christmas party and thought about what clothes she would wear to it. I have a hard time imagining that she has left voluntarily, she says and continues:

- I fear that she has come across someone who wanted her badly.

Rebecka Kainulainen had telephone contact with Maline in the afternoon of 22 December.

- She wrote to me about seeing her that day but unfortunately I did not have time but suggested tomorrow instead.

But there was no hit the next day. Then Maline was gone.

Last track
From other acquaintances in their circle of friends, Rebecka has heard what Maline must have done during the hours she disappeared.

On the evening of December 22, she will have been to a restaurant and a bar in the center. The restaurant visit is confirmed by Maline making a post on her Facebook page. Then she must have gone to a party in the neighborhood.

The evening should have ended with a small after-party in Maline's apartment.

The last trace of Maline came very early in the morning of December 23rd. Then a text message was sent from her messenger. This is confirmed by the police.

- The last contact is a message that takes place around 04.30 in the morning on the 23rd, says Marie Fridström, on-duty preliminary investigation leader in Helsingborg.

She also confirms that Maline's mobile phone was found in her apartment. The police are working on the case as a suspected kidnapping.

The missing lady seems to have quite dark skin and hair for a Swede.
I see she comes from Landskrona which has a lot of Muslim immigrants from Syria etc.
I'm wondering if she may have been one herself, and possibly having family trouble.....maybe forced marriage or threats from her family over lifestyle choice? It's one line of inquiry.

More worrisome details:

“Maline's disappearance eerily like another case

Maline, 31, disappeared during the night of December 23 and the search for her is ongoing.

- We have not found her yet, says Rikard Lundqvist at the police in the southern region. The case is eerily similar to Eirin Mikkelsen's disappearance two years ago - also in Landskrona during the Christmas weekend.

At 2 pm on Christmas Eve, Eirin Mikkelsen came home from work on an oil platform in Norway. She was going to celebrate Christmas with her partner in Landskrona.

A few hours later, during the night towards Christmas Day, she had disappeared without a trace. The disappearance was reported and the police began a preliminary investigation into kidnapping. Major search efforts were carried out in Landskrona and the surrounding area in the days after Christmas and into the new year.
Voluntary organizations were also involved in the search for the Norwegian citizen.

She was found dead in Lundåkra Bay, south of Landskrona, a few weeks later.
The police received harsh criticism from Eiren's relatives. Her brother Atiliano Briones Mikkelsen, 26, did not think the authority did enough after she was reported missing.
- I saw more people from Fikk (Volunteer efforts in crises and disasters) than I saw police. The police expect people to give tips, but they must do the hard work as well, he told Aftonbladet after the disappearance.
….

Rikard Lundqvist from the police says that
they will certainly investigate whether there is any connection to Eirin’s disappearance. “

Malines försvinnande kusligt likt annat fall

I understand Swedish (but don’t feel comfortable enough to translate myself) - going to try to find more details about Eirin now.

Shortly about Eirin via Norwegian media:

“Norwegian woman who was found dead in Landskrona, is not exposed to violence

All indications are that the 43-year-old Norwegian mother of two Eirin Mikkelsen in Landskrona died of drowning. There are no suspicions of a crime, writes the newspaper Expressen.

It is the preliminary autopsy report that shows this.

- There are no obvious signs that the woman has been exposed to violence, says investigation leader Mattias Nildén.

The police's preliminary conclusion is that the Norwegian woman has fallen into the water and drowned.”

According to the Swedish media about the connection between Maline’s & Eirin’s disappearances:

"Obvious points of contact

On Christmas Eve 2019, 43-year-old Eirin Mikkelsen disappeared in central Landskrona. She was later found dead.

Eirin had been to the same bar as Maline earlier in the evening. Both women also have several mutual acquaintances.

- There are points of contact. It is obvious. At the moment, I see no connection, but that may change in the future, says Kent Persson, head of investigation into serious crimes, the police in Helsingborg.
He confirms that the police are looking at personal connections between the two cases and the fact that the women visited the same bar before the disappearance.

- It is a part of the entire preliminary investigation. I also took care of Eirin's disappearance. So it is clear that you are thinking about it, says Kent Persson.”

I’m happy that there is thread about Maline on here. I live in Sweden ( Stockholm) I followed the news about her but nothing new as of now. Her surname does not sound swedish and I can’t pinpoint where could it be from. It is interesting about the missing and eventually found dead norwegian woman and I do wonder if it is a job of the same person/people. Or another accident? Hard to say as here they don’t release so much information about the case as they do in the US. Hope she is found soon.

Thank you for joining this thread, Fika :)! I’m based in Finland and although I read Swedish pretty fluently I may unfortunately miss certain expressions/details.

I think it’s interesting that there are certain similarities between Maline’s and Eirin’s disappearances as well. It could be a pure coincidence but what are the chances of 2 different persons going missing after visiting the same place during the same time of the year…? Not to mention sharing same acquaintances, too.

I do hope there’s nothing sinister connecting these 2 ladies but it certainly sounds somewhat suspicious.

Hi neighbour:). I’m a native dutch but I can read and speak swedish well. My boyfriend is a native swede I ask him if I dont fully understand something. It could be a coincidence but this town seems rather small as many are in Sweden. Its hard to imagine such a coincidence in a small town but it does happens I suppose. It definitely can be connected but yet the first case was ruled to be an accident. It’s a strange case and unfortunately I don’t think it will end well. It’s really cold out if she wasn’t abducted but had an accident of some sort it doesn’t look well . I wish there was more info in the news. Many are looking for her and if I lived closer I would go out there to look as well.

About which last name are we discussing here? If you look on her fb in profile i formation, there are mother, father, brother, sister mentioned with quite some nordic names. The links there Re not valid, but mum or brother is in her friends list

Also important to mention, it is quite fashionable to dye hair dark and tan your skin dark (or using self taning cremes) in some northern countries. This is something i have seen oftenon instagram looking at some fancy influencer accounts. This plus the blue eyes are a fascinating contrast sometimes.

Yes you are correct. Her surname is swedish. In Sweden we have general registration of citizens which is available for anyone which includes your adress name date of birth and age also often phone number as well. I found her information ( available for public) which states her surname as swedish. I also agree about tanning and dark hair. Many swedish women don’t look swedish at all as for being blonde with blue eyes.

Hello there my neighbour, too! Glad you are here although under these sad circumstances.

Yes, Landskrona seems to be a town of approximately 33 K inhabitants, probably much less in the very central area.

Looking at Maline’s FB profile it seems she has been visiting places called “Chaplin billiard” (right before her disappearance) and “Restaurang Tycho Brahe” earlier this month. What surprises me is that persons with whom she has been with have not been interviewed by media or their contribution to the investigation has not been published.

Only her close friend -with a Finnish family name- has been active in the media to my understanding… Fika, has there been more information on these subjects in local or national medias?

PS. Love your nickname :)

I’m sorry to jump into conclusions too. A good lesson learned. Besides, our job is not to discuss anyones ethnicity or looks. My bad!

As far as I looked none of her friends spoke to the media except her best friend with finnish sounding surname. It is a bit odd that nobody else said anything I agree with that. Police usually dont say much in such a cases , they share bare minimum to keep public engaged into looking for missing persons I dont think they will say much about her friends talking to them.

Strangest thing for me is her phone left at her apartment. It is quite suspicious detail in my opinion. She was using it to send message to a friend and eventually the phone ended up in her apartment. Yet she is nowhere to be found?
So far no new information they are using dogs and volunteers to look for her.

P.S thank you! I love swedish fika;)
