Murder is a State case.

True, but CA and GA were the ones who originally called in the FBI because they were not happy with how they felt LE was handling their investigation. They wanted to insist it was a kidnapping even though there was no evidence to indicate it was. You can tell by their first interview with FBI they are trying to set up cross-jurisdictional competition. Guess that may have backfired a bit, huh?

Would large amounts of chloroform melt the plastic gatorade bottle?
I posted a site early on that mentioned plastic and metal containers should NOT be used. It didn't mention anything about heat...just that the chloroform becomes more dangerous IIRC. I'll go look.

ETA: http://www.sci-spot.com/Chemistry/chloro2.htm

It does mention that chloroform would "attack" plastic. Interesting.

I think to a coffin fly the juice is like a smorgasborg the size of a lake

where would this fresh meat be? kept in? only empty process pks were found....in the trash bag.....now if there was some kind of wrapper from maybe a meat company or farm.....but for there to be juice to draw coffin flies......i dont think coffin flies would be drawn to process meat juice....and i dont know how chloroform would come from that either....

please dont think im being snarky.....these are questions that will come up at trial....so im glad you are here talking about things like this....

I think it would attract a different kind of fly...but that's leading us OT.

There is a lot of fly talk in the latest docs, and one fly leg, so maybe fly talk isnt off topic lol

In a big way. I remember the first time I listened to their FBI interviews, and hearing SB take it all in, and ask his questions in a seemingly nonchalant manner......I thought....How on earth do G&C think this is going to help their cause?

I wonder if she took the needle from tony's house? Maybe the guys there were using steriods. She did have trash from his apartment in her trunk.
Or even stole one from where Cindy worked?

i have a question about the making of the chloroform......would someone need a larger container to make it in.....bigger then the gateriad bottle to store....or can it be made in a smaller amount then that?

FWIW...I think the FBI was brought in for other reasons. Nick Savage is with the FBI and based in Orlando. Won't go off topic...but the FBI wasn't brought in just to cater to the A family.

and when you cook up chloroform....does it leave any kind of residue or smell in the area of it being cooked? would you need a mask while making it....i was curious if anything found at the crime scene or at the house was taken in the searchs....to support making it.....not just the computer searchs....

I don't really know about that. I would imagine that a small amount of a homemade chloroform (like bleach and acetone or bleach and ethenol) would kill anyone no matter how it was ingested or administered. I wouldn't know. But I would imagine even a tablespoon of drano might kill the average person, not to mention toddler, if consumed. No matter how. Hope that helps.

I know that this is a totally "DUH" comment and that most of you guys know this....it's just that I noticed lots of people discussing ethanol....so I thought I would go ahead and mention that "ethanol" is just the fancy word for the stuff that gets you drunk. :drink: Reagent grade alcohol (the kind used in most laboratory work) is denatured with methanol (assays around 95% ethanol, typically)....so don't try to drink it or you'll go blind....seriously.

So, now that I'm going through these 200+ pages about the syringe and Gatorade bottle....depressing stuff....I'm starting to get a little emotional. Ya'll can help me drink my tears away....it'll put us all in a better mood so we can focus hard-core on finding justice for Caylee Marie!! Here's to everyone's hard work and dedication! :toast:

Since Ca worked in an administrative office I'm not so sure dirty needles would have been returned there by the home health care nurses. Each nurse has a sharps container in her car. They dispose of it by placing it in a larger container with a top (sometimes these are locked). It would have been easier for KC to steal a clean needle than a dirty one from a medical facility.

Once you decide which method to use (aka what your starting products will be) you can write your chemical equation. From there you would determine which of the reactants was the limiting reagent (the one that will be use up first in the reaction) based on the molar ratios of your reactants. That would allow you to calculate how much you'd end up with (theoretically, you never really get a 100% yield). I'm guessing that Chlorine gas would be a product so I'm not sure how well making it in a closed container would work...you'd probably end up blowing the top off if you couldn't vent the container and tried to make a large quantity.

Disclaimer- answered this off the top of my head (too lazy to bust out the Chem books and look up the reaction to double check) so please don't hate me if I'm a little bit off. :) Please correct whatever I've got wrong, though!

- Sit on child's chest
- Place strips of duct tape over child's nose and mouth
- Use syringe to inject chloroform into mouth (needle going through duct tape)
- Place heart sticker over needle puncture 'just because'
- Wrap child in Pooh blanket
- Place child in trunk
- Go to bf's house, go out to rent movies, partay!

OMG BeanE that sounds so horrible - but so possible in this case. So sad.

wow thanks.....and i found this at the bottom of the page you linked

*For longer storage it should be stabilized with methanol*

seems like you can store it only for about two weeks....after its cooked ....its a powder looking stuff

i found this as well....

* 9. EXTRACT THE CHLOROFORM WITH A SEPARATION FUNNEL OR OTHER INSTRUMENT. DON'T USE AN EYEDROPPER; HEAT FROM YOUR BODY WILL CREATE PRESSURE IN THE DROPPER AND CAUSE CHLOROFORM TO SQUIRT OUT*

sounds unstable when it gets to warm?
