Tammy Faye

I couldn't believe what I was seeing--She looked like a monster, she hardly looked human--The poor thing is down to only 65 pounds--She must have only days to live--It was horrible bad luck that her colon cancer, which she thought she had beaten, had spread to her lungs... and now she has been completely ravaged by it--awful sight

I couldn't believe it either; she did not look human. And, to the end, she had tons of mascara on. I have never, ever, seen a cancer victim that wasted able to smile, get dressed, put on makeup, and appear on TV. It appears that she died about 24 hours later. Boy, she truly did look like she was on her last legs. Wow.

Snippet--

family service was held Saturday in a private cemetery, where her ashes were interred, he said.
She had frequently spoken about her medical problems, saying she hoped to be an inspiration to others. "Don't let fear rule your life," she said. "Live one day at a time, and never be afraid." But she told well-wishers in a note on her Web site in May that the doctors had stopped trying to treat the cancer.
In an interview with CNN's Larry King two months later, an emaciated Messner — still using her trademark makeup — said, "I believe when I leave this earth, because I love the Lord, I'm going straight to heaven." Asked if she had any regrets, Messner said: "I don't think about it, Larry, because it's a waste of good brain space------

How can she not regret her part in the PTL fiasco? Living so high and mighty, while crying and begging for money, from anyone who would listen?

Has she ever, publicly admitted, and apologized for her part in all of that? She always acted as if she was entitled to live in that manner.

It was so obvious, on LKL that she was dying, and had little strength to say much at all. In spite of that, she did hold herself with grace and dignity.

I too became a fan of Tammy's along the way. After watching the Surreal Life show and seeing first hand what an absolutely kind and non-judgemental person she is. And so genuine in her faith that fellow housemates ranging from ex-🤬🤬🤬🤬 star Ron Jeremy to Flava Flave became captivated by her genuiness.

I too cried throughout the Larry King interview the other evening. Tammy did say that she takes morphine for the pain. And I think the makeup is to please HER - she always wore her makeup and is not stopping now, so you've got to hand it to her! (And as always about Tammy's makeup, my thoughts were "a little less would be better" - but she is the one who gets to decide.)

Despite her 65 pound weight, her smile was beautiful and her eyes lit up when she joked with Larry, which was so nice to see. She obviously is fully functioning mentally and has retained her sense of humor despite being in constant pain, which is always just awful.

Yes, the end is surely near for her. I think she did a brave thing by appearing on camera at this stage of her illness. She had a strong message to give about faith in God and she obviously wanted to give that message out in her own way. Despite the sadness in seeing her suffering, I'm glad she did.

And I think she will be remembered for a lot more than her eyelashes!
Great post! I think Tammy Faye would love it too!

I'm glad that her suffering is done too. No one should have to suffer like that, except maybe the murderers in this world . . . maybe THEN they would think twice about what they are doing because jail and death row are NOT stopping them.

Tammy, you held your head up high on LKL and God bless you for having the spirit to do so. RIP (even though I don't believe we are dead and resting in Heaven, but rather, more alive than ever and in a beautiful place with loved ones everywhere, even pets).

Mods, I had started a thread in the Jury Room, someone can delete it there.

Saw her Thursday on LKL, and last night too.

May she rest in peace.

Not often that we see anyone in the public eye that can always put a beautiful smile for us to see, and a faith that is so strong. Not often I said, but it really was an ALWAYS for her.

Perfection is not something that any of us can achieve. She came close in the attitude department for certain.

Maybe she had no idea what her husband was doing, that is possible. Yes she did cry alot but she was a sensitive person who loved everyone. I dont think it really matters now though she is gone, I am sure she is in Heaven in peace now. God Bless her and her family.

I just read one of the links that a poster posted. I think that Tammy Faye may have known something wasn't right, at the very least. They were living the high life at the expense of the faithful sending their money to them.

I just heard on the news last night that Tammy Faye died on Friday night. Isn't this the day that LKL aired his interview with her? If so, perhaps, it was in honor of her memory.

We have all done things in life that we regret and for which we ask forgiveness. I feel certain that Tammy made peace with her Lord. I thought that it was interesting that her current husband was also associated with the PTL and that he had done prison time for bankruptcy fraud.

I have no doubts that she made her peace with God, and I never wished this ending for her.

Even if she did not know the extent of her husband crookedness, she did know of their wealth, and I have always had a HUGE issue with filthy rich evangelists begging for money from the rest of us. "Send money, and we will send you this special healing ribbon". Buncha crooks.

I do think it wouldve mattered to the vulnerable folks bilked out of money, to have her own up to her part in it. Did she ever even admit that her husband was a crook?

nanandjim, The interview aired this past Thursday night, I saw it. Last night I tuned in to LKL and thought they were repeating Thursdays program then I noted at the bottom of the screen that Tammy has died.

Saturday program first half hour was repeat of Thursday, last 30 minutes had cuts from other interviews with Tammy, her two children and Jim.

------
PSU fan, The American courts dealt with deciding who needed to go to prison.

Some sleuther can dig up more facts from that case.

God will be her judge, not me. The people loved Tammy and Jim, and gave from their hearts, the Bakers did a lot of good things with the money as well.

I guess they could have lived in a hovel, but. I loved seeing her on interviews, surfed past the 700 club once or twice. I prefer being with my God alone, rather than in crowded arenas. But an ocasional trip to a crowded arena tends to ground me and strengthen my faith. In the long run people usually just end up being people. The good, the bad and the ugly.

I wish my post were perfect, but it is me.

I believe that Tammy Faye made her peace with God a long time ago.. and I believe that God has finally brought another angel home. May her family and friends remember that they were blessed by knowing her, and that she is not suffering any longer.

Your post was very well written. Understand that I don't doubt that Tammy Faye made her peace with God. I thought she was a strong, brave soul to go on LKL to say her goodbyes. Even in the end, I could see that speaking was her gift.

Of course I do not expect televangelists, who beg for money... tears streaming, to live like paupers. But I can't help but think how many starving children in third world countries, just one piece of their jewelry could feed. Benny Hinn comes to mind.

I don't want to tarnish this thread anymore.. I wish her remaining family peace, and comfort.

I have a few nice pieces of jewelry. Am I now responsible for starving children?

Did you send her money?

How do you know that she did not regret her past misdeeds? Most of us do.
