I misspelled Rebecca's last name in the thread title - it Rauber. Mod's please correct, sorry.

Rebecca's Facebook Page - Log into Facebook

There is a picture of her from 1/16/25 that looks different than the above - much thinner now.

I can’t remember how to notify mods - it looks like the title should read 2026 rather than 2025.

I'm following this one. It's so cold right now and all that snow and bad weather that hit yesterday is concerning. I hope she's safe and warm somewhere. :(

Loved ones said in a Facebook post that she left her phone, keys, jacket and purse. They have not heard from her and are concerned for her safety. The chief has set up a meeting with the Emporia Police Department Sunday to make a more in-depth search.

Was it storming Friday night when she went missing?

It was. I am not sure of the exact amounts, but around that time, it was at least a couple of inches of snow.

Rauber was last seen at approximately 11:35 PM, crossing 5th Street and Neosho. If you live along North Neosho Street or nearby and have security cameras, doorbell cameras, or dash cams, please check your footage from around that time and contact the authorities with any information regarding Rebecca.

The above is from a published fb link in the msm story in post #8. It sounds like she was walking home. How could she just disappear in such a short distance? Are you familiar with the area?

The school where she teaches seems like it is fairly close- perhaps she tried to walk there?

I am sure she regretted not having a coat pretty quickly and would need a safe place.

KAKE News

There are a few interesting comments here. Change the comment setting to "All comments" and you will easily find them. (I would list initials but there are too many comments.)

As always, we can read these comments but cannot post about them. 🙂

I am not familiar with the area at all.

Ok... having a senior moment here, perfectingpink.... Found the KAKE article, but don't see comments. Help? TIA.

Was she reportedly intoxicated? I can’t find anything notably reported but she was at a bar so maybe. If so I feel like it’s possible she was just doing dumb things and got hurt/feel somewhere - not necessarily going somewhere for a reason

I think we are allowed to copy/paste all of a press release from LE. Bolded by me.

The Emporia Police Department received a report of a missing person at 1:13 a.m. on Saturday, January 24.

The report indicated that Rebecca Rauber had left the Town Royal bar, located in the 400 block of Commercial Street, on foot without her purse, phone, or jacket.

Officers began searching for Rebecca immediately and utilized business surveillance cameras in the area. Rebecca was observed walking alone westbound on West 5th Avenue. Video footage from a residence shows Rebecca walking north on Neosho Street from West 5th Avenue at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Friday, January 23.

Several additional videos from the intersection of 6th Avenue and Neosho Street were reviewed; however, Rebecca did not appear to cross 6th Avenue at that location.

The Emporia Police Department appreciates the assistance and support from the entire community as we continue the search for Rebecca. A search dog was utilized last night without success. The Emporia Police Department is continuing to use every available resource to locate Rebecca, including assistance from outside agencies.

At this time, a bloodhound K9 is enroute. We are requesting that residents remain off the streets in the search area so as not to interfere with the scent.

At this time, every available resource within the Emporia Police Department is dedicated to finding Rebecca. Officers have been actively deployed in search teams, conducting investigative interviews, and reviewing potential video footage since the time she was reported missing, due to the elements that night.

The best way the community can assist at this time is for anyone within a three- to four-block radius of 5th Avenue and Neosho Street, to review any home surveillance or security camera footage between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Friday, January 22, and the early morning hours thereafter. If you live or work near Neosho Street, from W 5th Ave. to W 15th Ave., you can help by reviewing any video surveillance and looking outside for any signs of Rebecca.

Again, Rebecca was last seen walking alone northbound on Neosho Street from West 5th Avenue at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Friday, January 22. She has been reported as possibly wearing Wichita State University sweatshirt and/or a flannel shirt. She is 28 years old, approx. 5’8” tall and 160lbs. She has long brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Rebecca’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Emporia Police Department immediately 620 343-4225. Information may also be provided anonymously through Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 620-342-2273 or online through P3 Tips.

This not a long street path and no obvious shortcuts. (5th to Neosho to 6th)

I wonder is she hitched a ride at the gas station on the corner.

She seems to have been walking in the general direction of her home.

Alcohol or if something else combined will often make a person feel warm when it is not which is a very dangerous combination when it is severe extreme temperatures outside, as shown the year, the three Kansas City Chiefs fans died in the snow. If this young lady was very intoxicated, and she felt like she was depressed or emotional over some event that had happened, alcohol could heighten that and she could have just irrationally taken off and wandered… Depending on how intoxicated she was, she looks like a small framed young lady, and she may have just found somewhere and felt that she had to sleep or passed out. An alternative option would be if there are some kind of bars close by because it seems to be a college town, she may have wandered into one of those, met somebody and went with them. I am not as convinced with that option because she did not have a phone, but you never know what alcohol or if something else could have csuse some poor decisions to be made. There are multiple cases I can think of where a young lady or a man had too much alcohol and made a fatal wrong choice in recent years. I hope this is not the case for her, and her decision can be reversed and learned from. Sadly, by this point, it is looking less likely for as good of an outcome, but I hope I’m wrong. Jmo

I am also curious to know where her phone landed after she parted from it. I wonder if the police have been able to go through it yet to see what kind of text messages had been on there prior to her leaving her phone at the bar. I feel like with cameras a lead can be started pretty quickly if the police know how to do that seemingly small town. Also, with the snow, I don’t know how much snow accumulated after she walked, but is there a possibility that tracks could be seen? If the snow was going pretty fast and hard that may be less likely by the time people got out… I’m sure they are probably also looking at her relationship situations, etc. it’s sad that young people still feel invincible and are always able to learn from other peoples mistakes before they make the same ones. Moo
