I see LE is focusing on a specific area today and doesn’t want the public’s help. Anyone know why the court house cameras can’t be accessed?

Have seen post from people saying she had been seen walking in the direction of her home and was just several blocks from home… I wonder if they have already checked around the perimeter of her house because if she left her keys and everything at the bar, was there somebody there to let her in when she got home? Hopefully she didn’t decide to sit down and wait it out somewhere. It just reminds me so much of those Kansas City fans.

I suspect she was walking home, but sought shelter somewhere and didn’t make it. There was a case like this a couple years ago, the woman went into someone’s shed in their backyard. It was in the middle of a storm and died of hypothermia overnight.

Very much hoping this isn’t the case here.

Hayes said several additional videos from the intersection of 6th Avenue and Neosho Street were reviewed; however, Rebecca did not appear to cross 6th Avenue at that location.

Hayes says a search dog has been used without success. A bloodhound K9 is currently enroute to assist. The police department is requesting that residents remain off the streets in the search area so as not to interfere with the scene.

The best way the community can assist at this time is for anyone within a three- to four-block radius of 5th Avenue and Neosho Street, to review any home surveillance or security camera footage between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Friday, January 22, and the early morning hours thereafter. If you live or work near Neosho Street, from W 5th Ave. to W 15th Ave., you can help by reviewing any video surveillance and looking outside for any signs of Rebecca.

Walking up Neosho St from 5th to 6th Ave on Google Street View, there are a lot of properties that look like they have sheds or garages in the back. There is also one lot that has a bunch of livestock trailers parked on it. This is from images only 7 months ago, so I feel there is a good chance they are still there. I hope homeowners have allowed them to search those in case she tried to shelter there.

Post above yours, they are asking folks to look for her on their own property as well.

Alcohol or if something else combined will often make a person feel warm when it is not which is a very dangerous combination when it is severe extreme temperatures outside, as shown the year, the three Kansas City Chiefs fans died in the snow. If this young lady was very intoxicated, and she felt like she was depressed or emotional over some event that had happened, alcohol could heighten that and she could have just irrationally taken off and wandered… Depending on how intoxicated she was, she looks like a small framed young lady, and she may have just found somewhere and felt that she had to sleep or passed out. An alternative option would be if there are some kind of bars close by because it seems to be a college town, she may have wandered into one of those, met somebody and went with them. I am not as convinced with that option because she did not have a phone, but you never know what alcohol or if something else could have csuse some poor decisions to be made. There are multiple cases I can think of where a young lady or a man had too much alcohol and made a fatal wrong choice in recent years. I hope this is not the case for her, and her decision can be reversed and learned from. Sadly, by this point, it is looking less likely for as good of an outcome, but I hope I’m wrong. Jmo
I remember that case, turns out the three Chiefs fans all died of Fentanyl and cocaine combined toxicity, rather than the elements (thought it took a long while for LE to release that information) but you are SO correct that alcohol, even social amounts can give you a false sense of warmth. The accuweather report for that town on he 23rd showed temps at a low of 2 at night. If there was any wind, the windchill would have been down in the negative digits. I hope everyone is reviewing their camera feeds in the specific areas others here have noted, someone must have captured her movements as she traveled home. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/emporia/66801/january-weather/328844

For visuals like me, this is my understanding of the path they think she took based on cctv.
They lost her at the intersection on W 6th ave IIUC.

Just awful. Reported missing 2 hours after last seen. Possibly already enough time for hypothermia. Interesting she was located in a wooded area though.

I’m not clear what led to her leaving the bar, or who she was with but please don’t let friends leave alone, so many bad things happen when people leave bars alone.

Very sad outcome. Prayers for Rebecca and her family.

She stepped outside after an argument with someone. IMO, no one knew she was going to leave/walk home. Links are on page 1.

My thoughts are with Rebecca's family, what a tragic loss 🙁

Whatever the case may be here, I wonder if they will make public the toxicology reports. Sadly, you never know these days what can happen and what you think you’re getting is not what you’re getting… The other thing is that it’s so sad that young people continue to think they’re invincible and think that others will protect them. They have to be the ones to choose not to drink so much to begin with if that was the case… When you’re in your young 20s, especially alcohol plus a situation that causes depression or anger often don’t mix well. I’m sure several of us back in the day have made those choices and have luckily been ok but now especially so many people are not ending up ok after making wrong decisions. ok but it’s a bummer that the people she was with didn’t help her get home safely first and then hash it out later. Hindsight is 20/20 and if the whole group was at the bar, my guess is that she wasn’t the only one intoxicated. Hopefully she didn’t suffer too much because in that situation I think you start to feel kind of a sense of calm and then just fall asleep.

I am assuming an autopsy - at least an external and toxicology - will be done to confirm her cause of death. I know people who may have had too much to drink can make poor choices that can, unfortunately, lead to their death - especially if they may also upset at the time (she reportedly stepped outside the bar after having an argument with someone). We have seen too many (often, but not always, young men) wander off and fall into water, fall off/into something, succumb to the elements, etc. But something about Rebecca’s case just keeps nagging at me. I understand going outside to have an argument, but knowing the weather conditions it is bothering me that she then walked away leaving her phone, keys, jacket & purse to walk home alone.

1. How far away was home?
2. Had she driven to the bar?
3. Had she ever “just walked away” like this before?
4. Did she have any history of drinking or using any substances to this extent?
5. Do surveillance cameras show that the route she took was one that she would normally take to get home?
6. Does all available camera footage show that she was walking alone? How did she appear?
7. Did the bar prevent her from re-entering the bar because of the argument or because she appeared too intoxicated? (I would hope not, but I admittedly don’t know anything about this bar.)
8. Could someone have put something in her drink (i.e. GHB) without her knowledge?

Super good questions. I have many of the same.

I’d add,
1. What happened during the two hour wait?
2. Why was she missed?
3. What type of searches were done the night she went missing?
4. Why does it appear it took 2 days to get dogs out to search?
5. Temp hovered around 2 degrees that night. How long for hypothermia? Was she found clothed- paradoxical undressing likely?
