Teen mom shoots intruder dead 1 week after husband dies of cancer

  • #81
you are missing my point..i don't think he was coming in there to get anyone...if he didn't know anyone was there, how could he be coming to kill anyone? she was hiding and being quiet...and what if her husband or her had been selling drugs to him for months? i am not saying they were, but i am not buying he was coming after her..he was coming after drugs...how he knew they were there, we will leave for another day.

Where in the world did this come from? Her husband has been terminally ill for goodness sake, I would be surprised it this were even possible.

Turning on lights would show her position....Yelling would have also made her an easy target. This thread is getting muddied up by the fact that she is so young and her husband was not. That has zero to do with what happened, two perps tried to break in and she shot one, good for her and I commend her. She would have just been "another" victim to read about instead she and her son have a future....
BTW I had someone try to break in one night, did not turn on inside lights called 911 and hid. The person was caught, dopehead.

you are lucky...glad you are safe, but most likely mr dopehead was looking for an easy score. if he thought someone was home, he would most likely move on. buglars burgle..robbers rob. the theory by everyone he was trying to get at her...turning on the lights and making noise would not have changed anything if his intent was to get in to get her, but if it was just to burgle then he would have run.

She was on the phone with 911 for 20 min. with them beating on the doors, both front and back. She moved a couch in front of the door to block it. After about 20 minutes of them beating on the door, they broke in. IMO they knew she was there. You don't beat on the door of a house you intend to break into.

IMO they knew she was there.

Allegedly one of the guys (the one that died) had stalked her before.

It's a small community and her husband just died of cancer. Whether they knew there were drugs there or just guessed is hard to know. But going after drugs is what the guy who lived said they were going after. Maybe that is what he thought. Or maybe he thought that is what sounded best for him.

you don't just die overnight...he had been dying for months and had been assisted by a hospice..oxicoton is a very addictive drug and if he had it he could sell it for quite a bit...thats what this kid was addicted to. its very possible..many people that can get prescriptions sell it. its become a huge problem.

No offense, but are you kidding me? What the heck do you think he was doing there?

“He was from door to door trying to bust in,” said McKinley. “I don’t know what he had in his hand besides the knife. I believe he actually had a hammer in his hand at some point because he was hitting that back door with it.”

He came through the door! She had every right to bust him open!

For 20 minutes, 18-year-old Sarah McKinley says she was alone with her 3-month-old baby while two men repeatedly attempted to get inside her home.

If she hadn't had killed his sorry arss, we would be sitting here talking about how tragic this was, how a young woman and her child were killed. How anyone can defend these two perps is BEYOND me. Absolutely ridiculous!!

Who is defending the perp? I personally want to know what the circumstances are. If they are as they appear to be, then the shooting is justified.
But clearly police are still investigating something since they are looking for dead guy's laptop and cell phone which were missing from the truck.

he didn't stalk her, thats my point...that is made up. her mother decribed one alledged incident where he followed her at a rodeo two years ago. and she claimed she had seen him around town...and they he stopped at her house acting weird a few nights before...and left because her family was there...how is that stalking? maybe he stopped by to buy more drugs but couldn't because the family was there. and she only saw him..they were not both trying to get in. the other guy said he never left the fence. and she only reported one person.

Exactly and I doubt her had the strength
to sell his much need meds...

I have zero pity for the one shot, addiction or not. He arrived with bad intentions period.

If he didn't know anyone was there, why would he be banging on the door unless he was expecting someone to answer. The door knocking was a threat IMHO, a scare tactic -- open the door or else.

we all have the right to shoot an intruder...but there is no proof he was coming for her. he was coming for drugs. and i believe at the end of the day, he thought the house was empty.. maybe i am wrong. but based on all that we know, he never tried to communicate with her, he tried to open doors...like a burglar not a home invader. what idiot would spend 20 minutes trying to break into an occupied home? how could anyone know it would take 20 mins for a cop to get there?

My apologies - when I say "defending the perp" I really mean "making excuses for them" or to try to explain away what they were doing there. For someone to say that LE should look into it, because maybe, perhaps, there may have been a reason for these 2 monsters to be banging down her door, and to eventually get in "is, yes, trying to defend the perps". Or, to ask why she had a gun, or maybe why she didn't do anything else to avoid killing this monster.

What else would you call it? I call it defending...or making excuses.

I hate when the victims become the criminals in discussion when the facts don't point that way.

JMO

IMO she was the victim who protected herself. If there is more to it, I'm sure it will be reported on.

he was trying to break in. why bang a threat? what man wouldn't be saying something open this door you....bblblbl if he was trying to give a threat open this door or else..humans can talk...he didn't yell threats because there was noone to threaten in his mind IMHO. This might be a legal shoot, but i am not buying the poor mother defending her cub stuff. i think this is an addicted kid dying for his addiction at the hand of a very unsophisticated girl, but maybe not a guilty girl. but i do want to determine if there was some other connection in regards to these drugs.

Well, pardon me. Of course LE should just accept everything at face value. No need to investigate anything, of course. I very sorry for the mere suggestion LE should actually do the job they are supposed to do.

He banged on the door. Burglers that think a house is empty don't normally do that.

I am just happy that we are not reading about another dead/missing Mom or baby.....

BBM If she told him to leave her alone, and he continued to follow her, came to her home that is stalking. And what you described is more than one incident.

From what I read at one point one guy was beating on the front door and one guy was beating on the back. But when the living guy heard the gunshot he ran back to the ditch and stayed there. He also called 911.

And if they were there to buy drugs or had ever bought drugs there, he evidently hasn't talked to LE about it. That would have been a great excuse for him to be there and he probably wouldn't be under arrest now. If they went there to buy drugs from her like they did in the past, and she opened fire she would be the one sitting in jail.

well i didn't hear banging on the 911 call, but that actually isn't true. burglars do bang or knock on doors and if someone answers they pretend to be looking for another house, if no one does, they go around the house looking for an entry point. so after the knocking he then tried to break in. just my theory. i get the being quiet thing...i really do...and maybe thats why this continued for so long, but i cannot see any burglar or even armed robber sticking around if she had yelled hey i have 911 on the phone and i have a shotgun...and where was that dog? and Mel i really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings..and i understand everyone's point....but there are things that don't add up for me.

AMEN. I have said enough to say on the subject. I applaud this woman and it's time we give more rights to the victims instead of the perps. To think the perps were there for innocent reasons is absurd. Bless her.

i don't want you to take this wrong..but you just made something up. the stalking behavior you describe has never been described by anyone. like i said...go read what her mother said and go listen to what she said..nothing they describe is stalking. one meeting at a rodeo two years before...no contact since except seeing him around town...and he stopped by her house and acted strangely and introduced himself as a neighbor..thats all i found...nothing about her telling him to not come visit or stop anything...they had almost no contact...who stalks like that?
