Terri and the gym

ITA with your post and think it needs a rerun.

BOTH KH and TH went to the gym together, yet TH gets the blame. Seems to me that's the way this entire case has been going. After today's PC and the rules laid down by Kaine's "team" I'm seeing a much different side of this story. In the beginning I thought TH's body language was way off, but now, after the PC Kaine and Desiree did together, my poop detector is slowly pointing the red arrow in a different direction and I see TH as more of a frightened woman than necessarily one guilty of disappearing Kyron.

Unless there is someone evidence of a kidnapping for ransom, or evidence Kyron has been sold, the way this ENTIRE case has been handled STINKS to high heaven and a trip to the gym is the least of the problems.

I could be wrong, been there, done that, and this is only my opinion based on body language, things I've read, family history, and a very suspicious mind.

Couldn't agree with you more. Why is TH the only getting all the crap about going to the gym??? When clearly they were there together, and as the video shows they were annoyed, bugged, ashamed of the media and tried to get away rather quickly! Something from the beginning has rubbed me the wrong way about this entire story, and both the Dad and the SM!

after watching Kaine tonight, I'm still convinced he has the smarts to do this - and that Terri is a casualty - Desiree is the real target. But nothing more than an opintion**

Very interesting!

That would be consistent with what I can only describe as the on-screen chemistry between Desiree and Kaine when they tag-teamed during the PC last Friday...seemed like a "nice couple" even finishing off each other's sentences.

Kaine has shown signs of being highly rational and calculating, saying at one point during the raw interview with KGN, "I cant "branch-predict" every possible outcome"...(software coding language being applied to everyday life)

Hi, this is my first post. I've been following this case from the beginning and this site for a couple of weeks. I live south of Portland and the minute I heard the last time Kyron was seen was in the school hallway (on local radio station KOPB) I knew that things just didn't add up. I had some trouble registering here, but I had really wanted to chime in about a couple of things. Beware, I tend to be wordy, but I do try to use a lot of white space! :blushing:

This isn't directed at anyone in particular--I've seen many people comment on Kaine's demeanor. I haven't watched many of the videos to analyze the family's body language, but I keep seeing Kaine being criticized for seeming to be unemotional, a control freak, etc.

I believe he is an engineer at Intel in some sort of computer specialty (that's what Intel does)--does anyone know his exact job title? It's a broad generalization, but many computer engineers and other "computer geek" types have some of the characteristics of Asperger's Syndrome. In lay-person's terms, think of the stereotypical nerdy, socially awkward, but absolutely logical and highly intelligent nerd. Many Asperger's folks are highly into patterns and logic, and not so good at dealing with people, and may appear unemotional. That does not mean they actually are unemotional. I have many friends like this and none of them would harm a fly! I would imagine being in such a highly emotionally charged situation like this, they would retreat into logic, which makes more sense to them than emotions. But yeah, they "present" as kind of weird.

That's all I'll say on the topic for now--I want to be sure this line of speculation doesn't violate the TOS. And as seems to be necessary here, I'll state that this is Just My Opinion! I am not a medical or psychological professional.

OT for this thread, but as for other ways I can contribute here, my mother has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and I can speak knowledgeably about my own experience with how an NPD person might react--I've seen NPD batted around quite a bit in relation to this case as well.

Thanks for the great community here--I have formed some opinions about the case, but it's refreshing to follow the case on a site that doesn't have the lynch-mob mentality most of the mass media website comment boards have! Ick, I hate referring to Kyron's situation as "a case". I hope he comes home soon!

SM has been taking a lot of heat for going to the gym. Had not seen this before, but this http://www.katu.com/news/local/97541389.html certainly seems to say that the husband also went to the gym. Has this been discussed?

The video of Kaine & Terri getting into her Mustang when leaving the gym that night, is in the KATU news footage, posted below.

The gym story starts at approximately -1.01 timestamp on the video. The reporter politely asks them a question and Terri hurriedly gets into the driver's seat, as Kaine scurries into the passenger side. :snooty: They are both, just plain rude in this footage. In my opinion.

I am surprised KATU wasn't :censored: by Kaine for that one! Or maybe he hasn't seen this footage; supposedly they do not have a TV in their house. This video is from days after Kryon's disappearance.

Kaine also said as recently as two Fridays ago (the Friday before 9-1-1 day and the Saturday night departure with baby K) that he didn't know anything about Terri posting on FB :online:.

Hence, on gym night, that means Kaine didn't know about her "hitting the gym" comment and he didn't have a TV at the house to see the news report that night!

KATU lucked out and wasn't seen as the bad guy. They get to stay in his controlled pressers!

Her "hitting the gym" will be her downfall (posting on FB) as that's when most of us got out Hinky Flags up.

She deserves all the negativity coming at her, at this point IMO.

totally honest questions which, of course, you don't have to answer. Are you a mother and, if so, have you ever experienced a missing child -- even for 20 minutes or so? I'm asking because that is my experience and I know how it feels FOR ME. I am just wondering if other mothers have a totally legitimate and different experience.

I'm not sure that there is a lot of similarity in feelings and behaviour from when a child goes missing for 20 minutes and when a child goes missing for 30 days.

Sooner or later, the body shuts down adrenaline production, even if the trigger of the fear response is not resolved. Human bodies simply cannot keep running on adrenaline for days or weeks at a time.

That initial period of intense fear fades, in part, because of survival instincts. If you're in a blind panic, you can't eat, sleep or function in any meaningful way.

I haven't read anything, really, about how KH and TMH spent the first three days after Kyron disappeared. The first real sighting was the gym visit, four days after Kyron disappeared. I think it is possible that they had gotten through the initial panic stage.

As they had a toddler at home with them, I hope they got through the panic stage quickly, just to minimise the impact on little KAH.

snipped:He got custody of Kyron after a restraining order because of a medical emergency. But she retained custody until that point.

Why would a restraining order be necessary in a medical emergency? I had not read that anywhere.

Two different events. Desiree Young filed for divorce when she was eight months' pregnant with Kyron and filed a restraining order against Kaine Horman that restricted him from removing her older child (around 7 years old) and baby Kyron from the house. The judge amended the order to prevent either parent from removing the children without permission from the other parent.

When Kyron was two years old, Desiree Young suffered kidney failure and had to go to Canada for treatment. That is when Kaine Horman took over primary custody of Kyron.

snipped : and he used Desiree's tactic of a restraining order to get the upper hand.

Are you saying that KH got a RO against DY in order to obtain custody of Kyron? Are you further saying that DY had received one against him? Again, I have not read anything about that. Where did you find that information? I'd like to read more about these odd occurences. Thanks

Desiree Young took out the initial restraining order against Kaine Horman; the judge amended the order to restrain either parent from removing the children from the home.

It was in the Willamette Week:

Honestly, I don't see how going to the gym makes anyone guilty of anything.
They may have had a house full of people and needed some time away.
It makes no sense to me, that either one should be fried for going to the gym.

I believe this case is going to be the first in many things to come in the future.
The way LE deals with cases due to the internet and media.

I don't see how posting on facebook makes anyone guilty either, the internet has taken the place of the telephone for a lot of people and taken over just plain visiting one another.
On Facebook you can have all your family , regardless what country they live in, all your highschool friends, all your friends, everyone of importance. You can't do that on the telephone.

To me they are both silly reasons to believe either one is guilty of anything except going to the gym, or posting on facebook.

I haven't seen any real evidence of anything to make either guilty yet. Not to say LE doesn't have anything, I wouldn't know what they have as they don't tell the media what they do or don't have.

The gym is the Xtreme Edge in Beaverton. They donated their business place as a drop-off site for the searchers supplies.

I've linked their Facebook site here before, so I guess it's okay. If you scroll down to May 21, you see they had their Grand Opening celebration where family and friends were invited. I wondered if someone befriended Kyron then. He might have told them about his science fair project.

Also notice June 9 they are listed as one of three locations to give donations for search and rescue.

It's an edgy type gym, to me. Be sure and watch their videos. But I'm more of a Curves type.

Anyway, I can easily see Kaine and Terri going to the gym to thank the owners and members for their help. And when Terri posted to her Facebook about hitting the gym, it may have been her way of noting their help in the search.

Re: TH and KH being rude to reporters at the gym. (Note I didn't watch the video for body language.) I don't know about them or y'all, but I'm an extreme introvert, and whenever I see the press with cameras around, I set my stunners on "Avoid!" No "woman on the street" interviews for me.

I have no idea how I would react to being in a situation like this (if I was innocent), but I think if I was trying to grab a few moments of peace and quiet in a place familiar and "safe" for me, and the press showed up, I would be rude too. Again, if my child was missing, I don't know if I would react differently, but in general, my reaction to the press would be--"Leave me the bleep alone!!" I would really hate being followed around all the time.

On the other hand, my mother created a situation for herself that is the kind of thing that ends up on the news, tabloid style, pretty often. I was partly mentally preparing myself for what I might say to the press if they got involved. Thankfully it didn't happen that way. But I would have tried to clarify the family's side of the story if I had had to, despite my almost debilitating fear of public speaking. I have to rehearse a lot to get over my public speaking butterflies. I have no idea how I come across as I am so terrified. If I ever had to give a presser I and my demeanor would probably be raked over the coals. And if they started following me around, you can bet I would growl at them.

Yes. And I believe it was more than going to the gym (which could have been to pick up donations or whatever) but rather the FB comment of "hitting the gym" so nonchalant that shocked people. MOO.

I have only read the first page of this thread so far, but wanted to say my issue with the comment about "hitting the gym" was that it was said as in going the next day, as if Kyron was already in the back of her mind, I get going to work out, whatever, but planning to go to a workout a day in advance and voicing it on a social media site? Off-putting to me. On the post I saw a friend offered to go with her to keep her company. Just struck me as odd.

They were dressed in workout clothes and had a gym bag with them. They may have done something related to Kyron while at the gym, but it's obvious that they went there to work out.

Thanks for the link, I had heard about the gym but had never seen this video.

I am really surprised that neither of them gave the reporter, who was very nice, any acknowledgement at all not even a "No comment."

Good eyes wondering!

Did you happen to watch any of the gym's promo videos? It's a real different workout from what I'm used to. Hitting tractor tires with sledge hammer? Yikes! Don't miss and hit your foot!

A friend told me this type of gym is all the rage with the big interest in mixed martial arts. I thought I read somewhere on their site they provide daycare.

Sounds like Crossfit: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrossFit[/ame]

It's a good workout. I don't think it causes people to harm their children or be rude to reporters. ;) ;) ;)

my nextdoor neighbor has a crossfit franchise or something. I didn't know that's what it was all about. Maybe I need to watch them a little more closely! :)

I would be the same way. I am extremely introverted and would feel the same way. That being said. I still have my thoughts about what went down that morning at Skyline Elem and this supposed "appt".

yeah, not my cup-o-tea lol. I just posted that my neighbors have something to do with crossfit. They have a big truck with a crossfit "wrap" and when their garage door is open, I can see a training dummy -- which is a life-sized human head and torso made out of some hard green material. It always freaks me out! They're all tatted-up, too. Not judging a book by its cover, and I know that lots of folks have obvious tattoos these days, but lets just say they don't exactly fit the neighborhood sterotype. I do a double take whenever I see them out all muscled, fake-tanned and inked, with their baby in the stroller. Just kinda weird, for around here anyway.
