If one of these boys was mine, I would beg FBI to let me have him for just a little while in a private room!

Vaseline: how is this used in bomb making?

Well I just did a quick Google search and found detailed instructions on how to make a pipe bomb. Vaseline is often used. I won't post details here.

Attorney (Guess RP's?) Live:

...we look forward to litigating in court.

I agree. But I don't think it's supposed to logical to us. This is just teen speak for "I really messed up."

I gwet the impression they are stuck on stupid teens who did really mess up but aren't dangerous or otherwise evil beings. stupid stupid stupid moves to make. I really don't see them as part of anything but dumb as rocks.

You looked up pipe bombs too? Well, me, you and Isabelle will apparently be sharing a cell then. :jail:

DK's attorney Live: we deny the charges; he did not know items involved in the bombing; his first inkling came much later...

"Kadyrbayev knew when he saw the empty fireworks that Tsarnaev was involved in the marathon bombing," the affidavit reads. "Kadyrbayev decided to remove the backpack from the room in order to help his friend Tsarnaev avoid trouble."

Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov face maximum sentences of five years in prison and fines of $250,000. Phillipos, a U.S. citizen, faces a maximum sentence of eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

too bad they can't get extra time for aiding their friend who went on to murder a police officer.

IMO they look more like strap adjusters to me. They look raised - above the fabric rather than in it. I also can't see any sign of the 'hour glass' shaped ( for lack of a better description) feature on the front of TT's bag on the shredded bag. Then there's the white patch on the shredded bag. 'Tis odd.

Yeah, actually they do look a little raised, rather than a stripe. Though usually the strap adjusters aren't way up on the padded portion. I think they're more like loops .... like those flat fabric straps that you can hook a carabiner or the straw to a camelback or something to?

I think the jail should have a special range for us WSers.

DK's attorney Live:

Q: he did not know the items could be used for [making] bombs?

A: No

DK's attorney (re his Visa): He was a student...he did not intend classes regularly...it's a technical violation of a student visa

So what happens to these syudents will they be sent back to their country or deported, stand trial then deported?

I presume they will stand trial here. If convicted, will spend time in prison here. Then deported after release back into home country.

Why would he have taken a random bag of used, empty fireworks shells out of DT's room then? What possible other reason would he have to have specifically taken it away, hidden it in a trash bag and tossed in a dumpster?

I guess the lawyer will have to get real creative in court to explain that.

My theory, the Feds got them separated and kept telling them "your buddy is rolling on you, saying it was all your idea, better tell the truth while you can." Now their lawyers will try to act like the "boys" didn't understand the seriousness of the situation, didn't connect DT's pic all over TV and empty fireworks to the bombing, were at a cultural disadvantage, yada, yada. I won't be shocked if other charges are added. All this despite the other "kid" DT bragging to them a month earlier that he knew how to make a bomb. Maybe DT wasn't so brainwashed, fearful of his brother, unaware until the week of the bombing after all. Grrrrrr (sorry)

Sure did. And in her case, she wasn't covering up any violent acts.

IMO, any person who can keep a house that clean has to have an underlying violent streak. She is guilty of felony high-level homecare !! :floorlaugh:

Wow! This just keeps getting more and more bizarre, doesn't it?

I cannot imagine the mind-set that would lead these young men to lie time after time to Federal investigators. WTF?

I simply cannot imagine that upon learning that a "friend" had killed innocent people - and by then they apparently were quite cognizant that their friend was one of the bombers - the mind-set that would lead these guys, if innocent, to dispose of evidence.

I don't like this. I don't like this at all. I am suspicious of these three.

The mind set of these young men came imo from their friendship with DT and a misplaced sense of loyalty. Goes to show that you can't be too careful when you choose your friends, once you are close to someone emotions can so easily cloud judgement. I get the feeling they were a little bit looking up to DT, he clearly was the good looking and cool guy among this small group of friends, brought the pot and (probably) the girls.

They should have run the moment he bragged about knowing how to build a bomb. I would have. Instead they were probably admiring him even more for knowing such "cool stuff".

I think these three are just plain dumb, dumber, and dumberer.

They're gonna spend time in jail for helping a terrorist. Oh my. I just can't believe it.

Well there's 3 markedly different descriptions of the fireworks allegedly belonging to DT in the charging documents, none of which really match the fireworks located in the bag from the landfill, as shown in the photo, so that should be fun to wade through in court. They all seem to still have their contents, except maybe the large tube at the rear.

I don't understand why Phillipos only got charged with lying/withholding evidence and the others got heavier charges, unless he agreed to give info. on the others in return for some leniency. They all allegedly confessed to going to DT's room and taking the bag and laptop and Phillipos may have claimed to have been asleep when the items were subsequently disposed of, but IMO it's hard to believe he would have had no idea that was going to be done. The difference in charges doesn't seem fair to me.

So how did these "kids" know to discard the Vaseline? How did they know that Vaseline was used to make pipe bombs?

  • #280
I am not sure why some are trying so hard to minimize the alleged offenses. One would think DT was accused of jaywalking.
