Folks, including media, are getting this wrong. He didn't go to THE expensive, prestigious Dartmouth, he went to UMass - Dartmouth.

I thought there had been a distinction between the two earlier but couldn't remember.

They did not have enough LE last night, to deal with both the first aid issues AND setting up a perimeter.
That's what I said. They were dodging bullets, bombs and trying to box him in. There is no way they did that successfully.

Transit is opening and the stay indoors effect is lifted.
Continue staying alert public... there is still a very very dangerous individual at large.
We feel confident that we can return to living our lives.

Ummm....just speaking as a local but this is craziness! How are we supposed to go about living our lives knowing there might be a heavily armed madman on the loose? I found that presser very disappointing. Not reassuring in the least. JMO as I sit trapped in my house....

I believe that the suspect told the mechanic that his shoes were $900. My hubs is a mechanic, though, and he knows quality.

Yes. Mechanic asked perp 2 about shoes, and perp 2 said the name brand and price.

RT @MajorCBS: From CBS' Bob Orr: FBI interviewed Tamarlan Tsarnaev 2 yrs ago abt extremist ties, found nothing & closed file.
No wonder their mother was saying in interview that LE should have known all about her sons real life and internet activities.... ?

They dont have a clue where he is. That's troubling

Sure is. Where could he have possibly gone? He isn't a good driver, so likely isn't driving somewhere long distance?
Is somebody helping him? Is he holding someone hostage?

  • #307
No direct evidence he's in the Boston area but his TIES are in the Boston area.
So they don't believe he will get much further than the Boston area.

Interesting. Just heard on CNN that the 19 yr old went to Dartmouth and is still registered there. Yet, his older brother went to a community college. Dartmouth ain't cheap - which might go along with the Louis Vuitton shoes. Where did he get his money? I heard today that they (bros) were broke and therefore, couldn't flee. But now I hear one went to Dartmouth.

This is nuts...

JMHO
Correction - suspect didn't go to Dartmouth.

IMO - they weren't broke! They had nice clothes, shoes, and even $$ to buy the bombs.

News is saying they weren't involved in the robbery?

Dartmouth is expensive. It was one of my son's school choices. With several scholarships, grants and student loans, he wouldn't have had to contribute one dime out of his pocket since we aren't rich.

He didn't go to Dartmouth. But if the shoes were actually $900-then I agree, he was getting money from somewhere. I mean, most people would not pay this kind of money for shoes.

As a local... would you call in a tip and make sure they searched the sewers?
I have searched and can only see people suggesting they look there.
I've heard mention of using mirrors under cars and many other things... but no mention of the sewers.

Kind of odd that a mechanic would even recognize Louis Vuitton Shoes. They could be $15 knockoffs (I sure wouldn't recognize the brand or know the price).

That's what I'd initially thought as well but apparently the mechanic or another mechanic asked him about how much his shoes cost and he told them $900. Louis Vuitton shoes are in the distinctive LV logo in a brown/tan scheme.

It's not THE Dartmouth! It's UMass Dartmouth. Like UMass Boston, and UMass Amherst. A state school. Not expensive or particularly prestigious lol (have plenty of friends who went there!).

I'm trying to get the timeline of last night straight.

They carjacked a dude and even told him they were the bombers.

They let the dude go at a gas station. (So I'm guessing that's one point where LE was informed by a 911 call by the guy that was carjacked - and they got a vehicle description).

They then shot and killed an MIT officer in his car. (why they did this? No clue. Also, don't know if LE was notified by 911 for this - did anyone hear the gunshots.)

Then somehow, LE found them. Had a severe gun fight with them. 19 yr old backs over the brother - obviously shot and on the ground. 19 yr old flees in vehicle. Is it the same vehicle that they carjacked? If so, even easier to track - already had a vehicle description - and depending on the type of vehicle - it could have had a locator already installed in it.

Is that right? Did I miss anything?

I would think while that gun fight was going on (over 200 rounds) LE would have managed to radio dispatch what was going on. Dispatch could then notify helos (probably some already in air) as to location. That's what gets me. No helos to track him? With all the resources devoted to this and the amount of manpower - everyone is on high alert - yet this guy just drives away and disappears?

It ain't fittin' - it just ain't fittin'

Just said they don't know what vehicle he is in.

He fled in the vehicle but my understanding that he got out of the vehicle at some point, and run off on foot.
I am not sure as to what exactly ain't fitting?

Any new info in last 8 hours? "No"

So LE "isn't aware of suspect having a car?"....? What? Don't they watch the news? Sorry...I'm frustrated.....

  • #319
Just said they don't know what vehicle he is in.

He left the vehicle that he was in so they don't know if he is in the vehicle at all at this point.
