To my fellow WS member living in the greater Boston area:

1. How safe do you feel right now?

2. Do you feel confident right now that the other terrorist will be apprehended soon?

3. Has your confidence been shaken in the ability of LE to apprehend this terrorist before anyone else may possibly be killed?

So LE "isn't aware of suspect having a car?"....? What? Don't they watch the news? Sorry...I'm frustrated.....

Again. He was in the car. He left that car. LE don't know if he has any car now.
LE has the car he was in.

Said he abandoned "a car" and fled on foot.

As a local... would you call in a tip and make sure they searched the sewers?
I have searched and can only see people suggesting they look there.
I've heard mention of using mirrors under cars and many other things... but no mention of the sewers.

Who would I call?

I'm really hoping he didn't break into someone's apartment, strap a device them, and tell them to cover for him "or else." My friend lives within the 20 block radius being searched in Watertown, 2 blocks from the shoot-out last night, and she said LE knocked on her door, asked her and her wife a couple questions but didn't check the apartment or spend much time with them. What if he's hiding in a closet using a device to keep his hostage compliant from afar?

Too many conflicting stories coming up after this press conference.

  • #327
Not necessarily. He clearly had terrorist ideas but that doesn't mean he had ties.

When someone has"terrorist ideas" IMO they better turn over every stone TO MAKE SURE they do not have terrorist ties. Living here on taxpayer dollar, taking scholarships, public aid...and entertaining "terrorist ideas."

How about we escort anyone with "terrorist ideas" back to the Utopia of their homeland?

Here, go down to the scanner thread and read it from last night.
I can't explain it because the information came from there.
It makes perfect sense to me, because I listened as it happened.

I'm trying to get the timeline of last night straight.

They carjacked a dude and even told him they were the bombers.

They let the dude go at a gas station. (So I'm guessing that's one point where LE was informed by a 911 call by the guy that was carjacked - and they got a vehicle description).

They then shot and killed an MIT officer in his car. (why they did this? No clue. Also, don't know if LE was notified by 911 for this - did anyone hear the gunshots.)

Then somehow, LE found them. Had a severe gun fight with them. 19 yr old backs over the brother - obviously shot and on the ground. 19 yr old flees in vehicle. Is it the same vehicle that they carjacked? If so, even easier to track - already had a vehicle description - and depending on the type of vehicle - it could have had a locator already installed in it.

Is that right? Did I miss anything?

I would think while that gun fight was going on (over 200 rounds) LE would have managed to radio dispatch what was going on. Dispatch could then notify helos (probably some already in air) as to location. That's what gets me. No helos to track him? With all the resources devoted to this and the amount of manpower - everyone is on high alert - yet this guy just drives away and disappears?

It ain't fittin' - it just ain't fittin'

If this was occurring in my city, I wouldn't feel safe leaving my house. I don't even know that I'd feel safe staying in my house.

My thoughts & prayers are with everyone in the greater Boston area. I hope no one else gets killed before this reaches a successful conclusion.

He didn't go to Dartmouth. But if the shoes were actually $900-then I agree, he was getting money from somewhere. I mean, most people would not pay this kind of money for shoes.

He is obviously immoral. He could have just stolen them.

Local law enforcement or the FBI... it's just been bugging me since last night.
I heard NO mention of checking sewers on the scanner either...
It just seems weird it wouldn't be mentioned ANYWHERE if they were doing it ya know?
I just want it to come from a local... so I don't look crazy??? :seeya:

Who would I call?

5-6 hours ago (and the hole day) I was watching live news on nbc san diego and they said several times that there were some info that pointed to that the brothers had accomplices and that THAT was the reason the operation is THAT big.
Also that there was activity at the White House that pointed to that what is going on is much bigger and dangerous than what is beeing shared in the media.

Wheter this is true or not I can´t say? But I have to say that the ongoing operation seem not to fit one person beeing sought.

Another thing that I find a bit odd, not only were they doing "drills" with bomb sniffing dogs before the race began (coincidence?) but also all of the POI's have been "similar" in some ways.

I initially thought this was a "Eric Rudolph right wing domestic terrorist type" yet apparently the powers in charge seemed to hone in on what might be perceived as "foreign terrorists" almost immediately and all of the POI's mentioned have been of a foreign nature.

We have not been the subject of a successful terrorist attack on US soil since 9-11. They are going to go after this guy with everything they possibly have. They have a duty to protect our citizens from this armed and very dangerous man and to bring him to justice.

I hope you didn't take that the wrong way....I am not saying in any fashion that this should NOT have been done! They had to do it and IMO, they have actually gone above and beyond. It's striking and humbling to me!!!

But it is in fact this cost a freaking fortune to conduct!!! It's remarkable that one 19 year old kid could do this much damage...of course, it only furthers that he has been successful at his act of terror!

To clear up: interviewed mechanic said suspect #2 acted odd and demanded his car removed from shop (Mercedes e-class wagon) they allegedlly highjacked a different Mercedes SUV overnight .

Just to clear up confusion.

So where is the wagon?

Or made up a story about brand and cost. Just 'cause someone says it, doesn't make it true. ;)

ok - that's a good thing. One can only travel so far, so fast on foot. But, did he have another car stashed around where he abandoned the first car? Did he have a place already setup to flee to? One out somewhere in the middle of nowhere?

Fled on foot. Really?

Yes. Google on the lam photos of him running away...they might still be out there. They were 12 hours ago. Carrying backpack as well.

1. Pretty safe. Tis is one guy, and no evidence yet of a cell, though family or friends might shelter this guy. He is essentially confined to hiding, since his mug is so well known at this point.

2. Fairly confident

3. Eh, about the same as before. Shiz happens, this guy got lucky and escaped from the gunfight. I'm impressed by the show of force/coordination, but not sure it was an effective method to use to find the guy.

In all, I think lifting the shelter-in-place is the best idea. We can't let these types of people lock us down for extended periods. Everyone will be vigilant, and if he is spotted, he's done for.

I'm actually more worried for guys getting turned in for looking like the suspect at this point!
