That's not true in the slightest when you get to the level of the everyday folks doing the deeds. The clerics themselves may profess an anti-Western sentiment and disdain for all that goes with it, but the random hate-filled-but-no-quite-so-true-to-faith activist is often very interested in status.

I absolutely agree. Obviously he was very devoted to his older brother and possibly worshipped the ground he walked on. The brother starts to spout off fanatical ideas.

He was living with his parents up until recently. They only went back to Russia recently. His brother was not raising him.

Mother was arrested for shoplifting in 2012. So she was still in US in 2012.
