For those who were wondering like me

Boston Bombing Suspect Won’t Be Read His Miranda Rights

A strange loophole in the law means Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be questioned without being advised of his Miranda Rights.

The public safety exception permits law enforcement officials to engage in a limited and focused unwarned interrogation of a suspect and allows the government to introduce the statement as evidence in court. The public safety exception is triggered when police officers have an objectively reasonable need to protect the police or the public from immediate danger.

Lindsey Graham said earlier on the news that is was approximately a 48hr window unless he is designated as enemy combatant.

seems he (DT) was failing his classes in college and more info on him at this link:

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...thon-bomber/8gbczia4qBiWMAP0SQhViO/story.html

From article:

Another student, Raja Nageswaran, 25, said Tsarnaev attended a gathering last fall at his home. No one who lived at the home had invited Tsarnaev and three friends who came to the gathering, he said.

“He was pretty social,” Nageswaran said. “He was pretty liked by most of the people.”

Nageswaran’s roommate, Emily DeInnocentis, 23, said Tsarnaev stood out to her because of some odd behavior, like spreading messy string cheese all over her couch, and picking up her cat and carrying it upstairs for no reason.

“We just didn’t invite him over after that. How many people just pick up your cat and go upstairs?” she said.

This shows me he was very disrespectful of others and liked to make it clear to them.

The failing class is nothing new for any college students, especially when you fall into the weed smoking group, or even without the weed.

do you know what they do if he doesn't regain consciousness in 48 hours? Might be a stupid question, but does the clock start ticking when he wakes up?

I really hope that before he died, the older brother had heard the news that the man he tried to kill had ID'd him. I hope he died knowing his victim was responsible for his capture.

The man ID'd the younger brother

I want to know where they were getting money too.

I heard somewhere on TV last night that TT only saw his wife on weekends.

I read somewhere yesterday we (tax payers) were paying for DT's education.

It appears the wife lived/stayed with her family in RI. Her husband had apt in Cambridge. Younger brother had scholarship to state school from Cambridge Ridge and Latin. Doubt it was your tax money unless you live in Mass as I do. Ma has some of the best educational institutions in the country and our schools are top rated and we welcome a diverse student population, just like the Chinese student who was killed-she may have been receiving aid too.

No police were injured when shots were fired by the boat.

I know there's more
I'll try to find it

Thanks all. To me this changes things in my mind... to be half dead, no way to run, but he doesn't kill himself -he points the gun at police? So he was either still filled with anger/hatred/religious conviction or whatever... or he was trying for suicide by cop, maybe.

Guess we need to ban pressure cookers, they are obviously the problem here. The majority of fatalities were pressure cooker related.

People don't kill people, pressure cookers do.

If this mean I don't have to suffer through "jungle stew" from my mom I'll get a petition going

There's wiggle room. The clock doesn't start ticking until he is determined able to be questioned, a medical decision I suppose. This is according to a terrorist expert just on MSNBC.

Have you heard of any scholarship money besides the $2,500?
That may buy his books and a little food.

And she didn't KILL anybody! She is a victim. I'm not concerned where her money came from.

Yep. I think suicide by cop.
To be looked at as a martyr.
I don't think you get that "honor" if you just put a bullet in your head.

Something I wanted to point out...

Many do not seem to be taking into consideration the influence of having a family from a different country with different values etc has on a person. No matter how long they have lived in the US, these are things that die hard in a more traditional type of European family. So you have to try to look at these guys through this lense rather than a American born and raised one. It makes a HUGE difference. You cannot expect them to hold the same values and function like an American would.

My family is originally Eastern European and the younger generations do tend to be very label-conscious, especially in the country my family is from. It's not necessarily such a big thing you guys are making of it, it's just that those cultures tend to just enjoy feeling like they have "luxury" items and of course some people take it further than others and some don't care but the general rule is somewhere in the middle.

My sister in law is obsessed with labels and used to constantly shop at Ross, TJ Max and Marshall's.....eventhough she was buying cheap factory seconds, they made her feel like hot stuff lol. so one does not necessarily need tons of money to wear designer labels.

I know it is not popular to say this but no matter their ages I do feel badly for the bombers. I can't help but wonder what went wrong, why their hearts were so full of hate and desire to destroy, how for various reasons they made these decisions and not only destroyed many lives of others but their own as well. I'm not of the opinion that they should be vilified, but understood. But that's the hippie in me. Lol.

I was looking though DT's twitter and I just felt sad. There are pictures of I think his pet kitten. It's hard trying to make sense of a young man who takes pictures of a kitten he seems quite proud of who goest on to bomb innocent people.
