And just when you need it the most GOOGLE has made finding both previews and cached pages almost impossible. I read articles today that suggest that they seem to want to phase out the cached pages completely. That's a shame as it provides some protection from being tracked when going directly to a link.

Document suggests Boston suspects had outside help

BOSTON -- ABC News has obtained a government document suggesting for the first time that the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects may have had outside help.

Investigators are increasingly suspicious that the Tsarnaev brothers had to have had technical advice to build their bombs.

A government document obtained by ABC News says the alleged bombers likely knew more about bomb making than they could have learned from the al Qaeda magazine "Inspire."

That raises the specter that older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, might have been trained in more advanced bomb making on a trip he made to Russia.

<snipped excellent post for brevity>

Remember, she said that the reason they had to come here in the first place was because her husband, AT, had done something in Russia. He, in his first interview, discussed how the family had to keep moving because (paraphrased) they were being hunted down. He initially came here with only DT. The mother, TT, Alina & Bella would follow within a year. Remember also that Dad arrived here in 2001. That could be very significant.

I posted several links on this previously. It's not clear when TT came here and it might not have been until 2004 - that is per his own words. There are many different dates on the web given for when he arrived - anywhere from 2002-2006. Something seems off about it.

You know what struck me, I am wondering if the media and govt are not considering all possibilities.

I wonder if his months over there might be black market funding to get ready for Boston. Welfare certainly did not fund this.

A poster a while back had a real good point about having laptops, cell, fireworks etc. etc. Welfare AND regular bills cannot be done by a health card!

My sense of that area of the world they are from is tough, - wherein a drug cartel like deal to fund acts terror globally maybe. In Russia? . hey it would all be under table, not on radar, can be lucrative.
.
IF any of this is true it certainly does answer some big questions - $, practice opportunities

And it would be fascinating to find out what kind of terrorist attacks were going on over there THE Exact 6 months over there. Similiarites? Hey, it would give him practice.

Ami you cracked me with dump being called crapo – it has to be a typo!

Not sure if this has been posted yet - I haven't checked in here today.

Basically, they are saying that there was a green Honda Civic - just like the one TT and DT dumped earlier before carjacking the SUV - at the scene of the shootout between LE and TT/DT. It was behind the SUV.

Possibilities (IMO):
1) it's someone else's vehicle
2) they went back and got it before heading to Watertown in both vehicles (not likely)
3) someone else (accomplice) drove it there (probably not likely either)

The reason I think 2 and 3 aren't likely is because if they were on the run from LE, then you'd think they would not go back and chance getting a vehicle that they know LE is looking for. But for some reason, this green Honda at the scene has supposedly caught the attention of LE.

Police eye second car in Watertown shootout after Boston bombing

...An NBC News probe over the past several days has established that the brothers used and then dumped a green Honda as well as a stolen SUV as they led police on a wild chase...

....However, photographs obtained by NBC News and eyewitness accounts given to NBC News producers indicate that both a green Honda and black Mercedes SUV were parked at the scene of the Watertown shooting. Several people who were near the scene that night said the Honda was positioned behind the Mercedes.

It's Crapo for real. They showed the site sign on Fox.

Drugs, local mafia, separatists, rebels, jihadi, the Russian secret service, it's all tangled up, sometimes overlapping. This is going to be the subject of scholarly inquiries, conspiracy theories from every angle, books, tv mini-series for years to come. I hope we can come close to the truth eventually.

I believe it's #2. Andrew Kitzenberg who took the pics of the shootout said the bombers were getting supplies out of the green Honda. One of his pics shows the rear door of the Honda open.

Excellent post, not wanting to come across as rude, but here in Canada on our News Channel, they posted a picture of Katherine, on her way out of her Parent's Home with her Mother still all dressed with the Head Dress, sorry I forget the correct term, and dressed in a long Black Gown or Dress, my question is, would her parents not have talks with her and try to tell her not to wear those garments anymore, it only brings more attention to her, because, as this excellent poster said, they took and took, and just made sure that they had what they wanted, so whatever Faith she is portraying I feel it is in bad taste! Just my thoughts!

You think her parents should be advising her to 'tone down the whole muslim thing?' She's a grown woman who converted to Islam! I'm guessing what people think of her headscarf is the least of her problems right now.

I came across this short but thoughtful article this morning: The Curious Case of Katherine Russell
It's about how the media has focused on KT, not as a suspect, but as the "all American girl, turned Muslim":

Why has Russell been made infamous not for her connection to the alleged bomber as his spouse or for a crime herself, but for her status as a convert? Why did Russell lose her "All-American girl" title once she became Muslim? ... The portrayal of Russell as abnormal, an aberration exemplifying a fall from American grace, serves only to further the marginalization and alienation of Muslims in the U.S.

Just something to think about...

I'd take that whole article with a grain of salt. It's a Huffington Post article. They do have a bit of a tendency to sensationalize.

Fair enough. It's just one person's reflections. But I thought it was critiquing sensationalism?
I.e., saying that our interest in KT should be if/how she was involved with the bombing. Piecing together a narrative that she is a 'brainwashed' Muslim convert based on quotes from old acquaintances or neighbours who noticed a change in the way she dressed doesn't seem particularly relevant or helpful.

There's room for different interpretations though. It's probably more interesting that way. :)

I am a bit confused and a bit angry. Some of this may be my perception or I am reading some of the posts other than way intended.

It seems that there is a lot of anger out there regarding the fact that they were receiving “benefits”. And I understand we all are upset about the 15th.

But, IMO we, no matter how hard, have to accept that younger is a citizen of the United States of America and, like all other citizens is entitled to apply for, meet criteria, and receive benefits. (I think that is why all the hysteria about Miranda right after capture. As time passed they realized they had BETTER read him his rights or the whole thing is going to be a mess in 8 years).

He is a citizen of the United States of America and entitles to both.

With the questioning of the parenting that was occurring we should be content with the fact that the child got some help meeting needs.
The notion that $862.74 (whatever) a month is going to be a big player in preparing for Boston is IMO, farfetched.

And what I perceive as a “surprise “that those who receive government assistance do bad horrible things--- in much the same way as others.
Their actions do not change the reality, that as far as we know now they met criteria.

AT, DK, Classmates Of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Deny Wrongdoing
AP
Associated Press writer Erika Niedowski contributed to this report.

Snipped:
AT and DK, who are from Kazakhstan, were classmates with Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. They appeared alongside him in a recent photograph of a group of young men visiting New York City's Times Square. They were detained April 20 after being questioned in connection with the bombing, which had killed three people and injured more than 260 others a few days earlier.

Snipped:
T and K have been interviewed at length, twice, by FBI agents and have cooperated fully, said Stahl, a former federal prosecutor. They are not suspects but are being held for violating their student visas by not regularly attending classes, Stahl said. They are being detained at a county jail in Boston.

Snipped:
John Hoey, an assistant chancellor at UMass Dartmouth, said K is no longer enrolled; he was last a student in the fall. T is enrolled.

Snipped:
The pair had lived at an off-campus apartment in New Bedford, about 60 miles south of Boston, and got around in a car registered to K with a souvenir plate that says "Terrorista (hash)1." The car was pictured on Tsarnaev's Twitter feed in March.
Are these the two that are being referred to as the Russians?

This Jamestown Foundation Seminar in Russia 2012:
Will be interesting to see how one learns of such seminars, if it is by invitation only or if it is open to the public. Reports earlier today stated that when he first went to Russia he stayed in Moscow. Family members there said they were concerned about his leanings toward extremism. Perhaps he didn't like the philosophy of what he was hearing re: the seminar or he heard what he considered hypocrisy

From what I can tell, this group (the JF) says they are on the side of human rights and those fighting against an oppressive regime. But they do not support the extremists or radicals. A fine line or tightrope to walk with easily influenced and displaced young men who may feel like outsiders.

When the mother first started ranting, I posted about how the family may have first been given asylum in the US. I suggested that she, not necessarily the father, may have had mixed feelings from the start or even an ulterior motive in coming here. Last night I hinted that our "boys" in Mclean, VA may have hitched their horse to the wrong wagon. Tonight, it seems that maybe the deal the family got when they first arrived here sounded sweeter than it turned out to be. Now it appears that, in their own way, each and every one of the T family has rebelled. The kids with drugs and domestic violence, the Dad just "giving up" and leaving and Mom turning her kids away from working for the US cause and back toward working for, who she believes, are "their own."

Remember, she said that the reason they had to come here in the first place was because her husband, AT, had done something in Russia. I agree , they found our way of life problematic escalating their beleif systems. Mom, in the earlier interveiws stated such. She stated she had wanted her kids over here for a better way of life. And they end up needing help.

At some point when they were searching for DT, there was a Be on the look out for that Honda, I thought. Does anyone else remember this? There were a couple cars but one was the green Honda.

Also NOTE: When I was searching Russian articles yesterday, Tsarnaev & Tsarnaeva were spelled various different ways than the ones we've seen printed here in the US. I saw it with an i and a y before the v, etc. might try to search those names out again. Maybe get lucky & something will pop up.
Another variation: DT's uncle spells his name Tsarni.

Yes, I remember a green car being a part of "that" day.

Totally agree and IMO, the same thing is happening with the "welfare" angle as well.

I haven't been able to read as throughly here at WS this weekend.

But Norwegian media is reporting today that that the Russians had tapped TT and mother ZT's phones and they were discussing "holy war".

Is this correct?
