I agree , kinda of setting wherein all kinds of stuff, blood, body parts etc are all evrywhere - would be pretty hard to say with certainty what came from where.

Yes, but if KT's DNA is found on any component...she will have some explaining; especially if it is an inside part or a discarded part of a component. She supposedly was at work so her DNA should not be found on anything retrieved at the marathon site- except maybe the outside of the pressure cooker or backpack which she could have innocently touched.

And if it was determined to match KT's (KR's) DNA, one would hope the matched DNA is on something other than the pressure cooker itself. For all we know, one of the several pressure cookers used for bomb-making could've come from TT & KT's kitchen, and the DNA on it from her putting it away after washing it. Unless she's got DNA on the circuit board or some other component, her DNA on part of one pressure cooker is not all that incriminating (if it's only on one bomb, and if it's a pressure cooker bomb).

JMO, but I'd say any part of the pressure cooker would be insignificant. I handle both inside and outside parts of heavy cooking pans when putting them away, stacking them together, etc., after washing up.

Just a quick question: Did any of you use pressure cookers when you were in your early 20's? Or for that matter, ever?

I, for one, have never used a pressure cooker. In my long life, I have only seen one in all the homes I've ever been in...and I was in catering for nine years.

The pressure cookers came from Macy's, reported earlier in the investigation. Fagor brand IIRC.

Yes, they bought brand new pressure cookers from Macy's. I haven't seen a pressure cooker used since the fifties when my family members canned. My mom was scared of them and never used one. They are safer today, but still not what I'd call in common use by younger people. Anyway, I doubt there was a pot roast in the presser cooker one day and nails the next.

Well there certainly was a good clear video shot!

I had also read that Marathon finish medals were taken and authorities were worried that they would be sold online by thieves. :stormingmad:

How do you hide multiple brand new pressure cookers from your wife anyway? LOL,Honey, Macy's had a sale, so I bought five..We know they weren't in his trunk or anything b/c his car was in the shop. just wondering

From the above article:

FBI sources:
One official familiar with the case said agents went to the house Monday to collect a DNA sample from Ms. Russell, the culmination of days of negotiations. FBI officials also have been negotiating with Ms. Russell's attorney in recent days to get fuller access to question her, the officials familiar with the case said. The officials briefed on the investigation said the DNA request was needed to determine whether it matched the DNA found on the bomb remnants.

KT's lawyer:
Her lawyer has said she is "doing everything she can to assist with the investigation."

Seems to be a difference of opinion on the process.
Why are they calling her Ms Russell?

Maybe her lawyer was efficient enough to keep FBI at bay. So far.

I was surprised there wasn't any statement when DT revealed last weekend that she had called TT Thursday evening. They sure keep a tight lid.

So many murderers have been described as nice and sweet by friends, neighbours and family members, it really doesn't mean a thing. you never know what boils underneath .... creepy. This "nice" boy-next-door blew up a child!

I agree. Remember Gacey was a clown that entertained at children's parties! (shiver)

I have used one and I am 30. I learned to cook with one. My grandma always made her stews in a pressure cooker and I do also. I know it is rare though, I have had enough people ask me about it. I don't know I think it may just depend on what you learned to cook with.

We never did. When I moved to a hot and humid city is when I first ever saw one. Lots use them for cooking beans, stews, tough meat, what have you, quickly. Keeps the heat down in the house.

I doubt the DNA issue has to do with the actual pressure cooker though. :(

My brother-in-law (who lives in Boston) told me that the boat owner in Watertown was offered a new boat by a boat manufacturer in exchange for the bullet riddled one and he declined. Does anyone think it will be worth anything when he gets it back from impound?

.............the attraction and glory of a wild shoot-out and car-chase coupled with jihadist martyrdom will be irresistible.

Duma Deputy Speaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky was more specific, saying that the explosions were the work of Islamic extremists and that the U.S. was to blame for their actions.

Now, any potential terrorist knows that an attack on a U.S. target on a day of symbolic importance will generate enormous publicity and cause enormous economic damage. The closing of Boston has probably cost tens of millions of dollars already

. That means that for the foreseeable future holidays and events like the Thanksgiving Day Parade on 5th Avenue, the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square, any 4th of July parade in any city and any major sporting event will be increasingly viewed as targets both by terrorists and law enforcement.

Those events will inevitably lose some of their carefree character, a serious loss in itself since democracy thrives on free streets and open events. So the damage from the Boston marathon bombing will be ongoing and nationwide.

Investigators have found female DNA on at least one of the bombs used in the Boston Marathon attacks, though they haven't determined whose DNA it is or whether that means a woman helped the two suspects carry out the attacks, according to U.S. officials briefed on the probe.
The officials familiar with the case cautioned that there could be multiple explanations for why the DNA of someone other than the two bombing suspects—Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar—could have been found on remnants of the exploded devices. The genetic material could have come, for example, from a store clerk who handled materials used in the bombs or a stray hair that ended up in the bomb.

You know, it sounds to me more like a ramping-up pressure tactic. They took her DNA to try to make her nervous, IMO. I mean, if the presence of the female DNA is already admitted to not necessarily mean said female helped in the attack, then why would they take her sample? It won't be conclusive.

I got the sense that the two were the same and new ?

Why are they calling her Ms Russell?

They've allowed her to expedite a legal name change back to her maiden name due to the publicity and negative associations (at least that's what I'd read earlier).

There were I think at least 5 pressure cooker bombs recovered (some were not detonated), and I believe they said at least 2 were purchased from Macy's (going on memory here).

Two bombs were at the marathon, one was hurled at LE during the two brothers' shootout in the early morning hours that Friday, and at least a couple more were recovered later during searches of the car and/or apt.
