The 6 minute phone call when JH failed to talk to anyone

Just watching video of the prelim and Stoddard asked Ross how he could have been on the phone for 6 minutes and not be talking to anyone. Ross' excuse was "he fell asleep." Snark? WTH?

OK now watching it again "How it could have occurred" probably means "how he could have forgotten about Cooper in the car. So confusing.

Yes! That's what I was trying to explain on my earlier post... it's very confusing. But, it does appear the prosecutor and Stoddard are referring back to another question at the time the falling asleep remark was made... So glad someone else sees it that way...

All jmo.

If JRH called a number (daycare) and say another call waiting came in & he answered it, without JRH actually disconnecting from the first number he called, could that be the six minutes on his phone by the LE just looking at the phone itself & no info yet from the carrier?

I can't wait until more is released.

we do not know the phone call was with MG, but she was his teacher and that was the person who sent him the email referenced in the hearing. a person named M was also the person who accompanied LH to meet up with LE at Treehouse

NOTE: I snipped teacher's full name from the portion above. Her name appears in the actual transcript.

No, M wasn't the one who when with LH to the TH. It was TJ.

I just post in LH thread. Didn't even realize this was up. I need time to get use to Cooper his own place.

Maybe he was put on hold for 6 minutes. I am glad you guys gave some times.

I haven't been on all weekend, so much catching up to do.

His child is just found dead, and he is waiting on hold for 6 minutes? Doesn't add up.

I know it doesn't add up. None of this does.

6 minutes is a really long time. Even to have a conversation.

How sure are we of the timeline of LH getting to daycare? Could he have been talking to her at the daycare during the 6 min call? Is it possible that her reaction to the daycare workers "he must have left him in the car" have been a response to weird messages on her phone from JRH?

From this article looks like the 6 minute phone call was to JRH employer.

"Harris never called 911, and when an officer told him to get off his phone, he refused and even said, “🤬🤬🤬* you” before an officer took his phone and handcuffed him, the detective said.

He also said that Harris told police he couldn’t reach anyone on his telephone, but phone records show that Harris made three calls after he discovered his son’s body — including one with his employer that lasted six minutes, Stoddard said."

the call was to Home Depot Corporate Office where the onsite daycare Little Apron Academy is located. RH did not work at that location. The call was placed to corporate and then transferred to the daycare, per testimony at the hearing. The article is oversimplifying and by doings so putting words in Stoddard's mouth. It is why I am glad we have the transcripts so we can read for ourselves his exact words on the subject.

Does anyone remember offhand what words Stoddard used to describe these calls...did he say RH said he didn't call anyone or, as it says in this link, that he didn't reach anyone. If RH said he didn't reach anyone, I'm WAY inclined to think this 6 minute phone call is a total red herring. jmo

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: Have you reviewed preliminarily his phone logs.

STODDARD: I have.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: What did those reflect?

STODDARD: They reflected the phone calls.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: What was the first?

STODDARD: The first phone call was to Leanna. It looked like it was a missed phone call. The second phone call was to the Home Depot corporate center, their main number. And there was a third phone number to the Home Depot corporate center and it appeared that this phone number went through and on his records it said six minutes worth of conversation.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: Were you able to track back to where that would have gone to, this call to the Home Depot center?

STODDARD: We did.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: And where would that be?

STODDARD: Toddler room five at little apron's academy where Cooper attended school.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: So you have phone records suggesting he was on the phone for five or six minutes, the officers stating he was talking to somebody on the phone.

STODDARD: Correct.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: Did you confront him with this when he said he was not talking to anybody?

STODDARD: I did.

UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR: What did he say?

STODDARD: He said he wasn't talking to anybody on the phone.

You know how Ross called the daycare and started saying things like "our child is dead, Cooper is dead" and was talking to no one? What if he was saying it on an answering machine and then to a dead line--because he and Leanna were planning on the daycare to "break the news to her." Maybe that's why when they told her Ross didn't drop off Cooper she said "I don't know what to do." She was expecting them to tell her Ross left Cooper in the car and died. And then she blew it with "He must've left Cooper in the car." Sounds plausible that the plan backfired?

yep, I think there likely was a planned convo between mom and dad and 1 of them messed up/

Interesting possibility. But would he "fake talk" to a dead line for 6 minutes? And we know from the hearing that the daycare doesn't have a 6 minute messaging system. So he can't have been leaving voice mail.

Maybe he was babbling at one of the other toddlers.

ETA: although if ROSS reaching the daycare by telephone was part of their plan, perhaps that's why he was so agitated when LE told him to get off the phone. He *really* needed to reach the daycare.

I bet he wasn't expecting LE to be on the scene as quickly as they were.

Yes the plan failed r.e. the phone calls. I think that's why Ross told the officer to FU. Who does that???? Only someone who is ANGRY. JMO

Not defending him but if I killed my child, I would be VERY angry with myself. I don't think I would tell a officer to FU, but I would be angry. And I would want my spouse to hear it from me, so I can understand if he was trying to get ahold of her and agitated because he couldn't.

I would definitely tell the officer FU. No doubt in my mind.

Problem is Stoddard said Home Depot doesn't have a voice mail system that can hold a 6 minute message. And there was a 6 minute connection so him talking to dead air wouldn't make a difference, he still made a 6 minute connection... If, and it's a big if, there's an innocent explanation it would be that either he was put on hold for a period of time when he was being transferred to the daycare room, or the call continued for a bit after the officers took his phone, IMO. Still, all reports so far say he was conversing while on the phone...

ITA that whatever their plans were for the day, they backfired, something went really wrong - one being how the daycare events unfolded. Too weird to be coincidence...
