The Anthony Backyard *REVISITED*

  • #281
12" wide by 5" deep. That's it? How lazy...and I thought she researched shovels.

My Ames 48" roundpoint could dig that in two cuts easy, almost by itself. What kind of whimpy little girly-shovel did the neighbor lend her? A Stanley? :waitasec:

5 inches deep by 12 inches is hardly a worm hole! You think it was a medium hole? lol.

No...but it was in the same backyard that cadaver dogs hit in...it may be she was going to bury her there, then put her in the sandbox or under the play house instead? It does seem Caylee was back there for some reason, unless you don't believe the cadaver dogs were reliable.

I'm not all that good with measurements (actually I can't even read a friggin' ruler but that's an entirely different topic LOL) but I have a rough idea of what 5" looks like  and I gotta say, IMO it really isn't all that big.

There is also the difference between a "hole" and "disturbed soil". They are not necessarily the same thing. If you took a knife and stabbed the ground a number of times - you would have disturbed the soil but not created a hole.

A thought about the disturbed soil v. hole.

It appears that casey starting digging a hole in the backyard to bury Caylee and then stopped, probably realized it would take more effort than she was willing to give. This was done in June. If, after casey decided not to bury her in the yard, she put back what she had already dug, then the soil/grass had 31 days to grow back. To me, that would be an area of disturbed soil. KWIM

I was going to constructively write about the nature of myth busting (in relation to the mythbuster sticky) but that thread does not allow discussion. There are issues with trying to bust myths and using media articles as a reference.

Well...I am disturbed there was a hole at all and that she borrowed a shovel to create either a disturbance or a hole. ;)

I guess this is a case of when size really does matter!

Welcome back, I missed you!:blowkiss:

I can't read rulers either and I agree with your assessment.

ITA- No kidding! The media lies about as often as the Anthony's do!

LOL I'll do it.
We cannot rely on media reports to bust myths generally speaking. Perhaps in some cases it is okay, but this myth is easily busted with the docs. I have posted it but thank you.

I think we can rest assured that most people know what 5 inches deep means. Can we please move past discussing the word "big"? This thread is reading really snarky and I'm not having fun reading post after post mocking me.

We see a lot of reinterpreting, misinterpreting, taking out of context, and general linguistic license used by media. Just a little twist will make something sound like a new dramatic bombshell.

In the latest doc. dump, this was the one thing that stood out to me like a sore thumb. No one else had mentioned it, so I thought others saw it and it wasn't that impt.. But I guess NG or someone on her show noticed it, and it is a bombshell. That's what I thought when I first read about it. He noticed the dug out area and showed it to the investigators. I'd have to go back and find the exact quotes about it, but I think she was right, it was 5 or 6 inches by 12 inches and a few inches deep. Oh, that's right, she was digging out the bamboo, not digging a grave.

I have a question - what was the date LE discovered this hole?
