The Boarder Across the Street

The fact is that Barnhill DID see a male walk up to the RAmsey house on Christmas Day.

Barnhill thought it was JAR.

The street the Ramseys and Barnhill lived on is sooooooooooo narrow, someone who was half blind could have been certain of the approximate age of 'the' person at that distance. Barnhill as I recall was IN HIS OWN FRONT yard.

The pitchers mound in a professional baseball game is farther from home plate than Barnhills house and Ramseys front door, imop.

NO ONE, BPD or the Ramseys ever explained who the WHO was that came to their door on CHRISTMAS DAY!!

Only thing we heard via the media was that it was NOT JAR, '''''cuz he warent''''' NOT in Boulder, bad grammar, and BAD investigation/explanation. BUT would you not think they would offer through the media just who the WHO was that Barnhill saw? Barnhill must surely still have bus wheel marks on him.

Really how ODD to have someone come to your door on Christmas Day, IF IF you were not having them for Christmas lunch, er why would anyone NOT be in their own home for Christmas, instead of walking up to someones house and being seen in broad daylight, yet being denied that they even existed.

Exactly, Camper. If Barnhill were in his front yard, there would be no mistaking seeing someone because his house is very close to the Ramsey's. In fact, all those houses sit a stone's throw from one another. When I saw the neighborhood, it cemented in my mind that the perp had to be someone who knew the neighborhood, knew the Ramsey house, and had relative ease going inside. Just too close for comfort....and for not being seen.

Nehemiah,

I was looking for the source for Joe Barnhill's comment about what he saw and came across this:

http://hellpainter.tripod.com/jbr/whowasthat.htm

"Barnhill, like other neighbors, didn't remember seeing anything suspicious at the Ramsey house Christmas Day -- the day before JonBenet was murdered.

'I didn't see a lot of people over there Christmas Day', said Barnhill, who had hidden until Christmas Eve the bicycle JonBenet's father had bought his daughter. I didn't see JonBenet with her bike, but I did see (her 10-year-old brother) Burke ride his bike down the lawn there.'

"Barnhill also said he saw John Ramsey's son from a previous marriage, a student at CU, come to the House."

So this article, if reliable, verifies two items we have been discussing:

o The bicycle tracks in the snow across the Ramsey's front lawn were made by Burke on Christmas Day, and

o Joe Barnhill saw John Andrew come to the Ramsey's house on Christmas Day.

That article was written 2 days after the murder - before it was known (and proven by ST) that JAR was back east. Depending on the time of day Barnhill either saw one of Burke's friends or the murderer.

I can't see how the bicycle tracks mean anything, as it is obvious their appearance matches the older prints across the lawn. Likely this track was made when either Burke took his bike out on Christmas, or when John brought Jonbenet's bike over from the Barnhills.
It has long been disputed that Barnhill ever made that comment.

sissi,

Well, Joe Barnhill's comment about seeing JAR walking up to the house on Christmas Day has been disputed, but not disproven. There's a lot of evidence pointing toward JAR, including his semen at the crime scene, and any alibi verified by a Ramsey is worthless. The Ramseys lost all credibility with their lies caught by the enhanced 911 tape.

I agree the bicycle tracks in the snow were likely made by Burke, but that has not been verified.

lawman,

In response to your four questions:

1. Burke had a bike; but he didn't get it for this Christmas. Only JonBenet and Patsy got new bikes Christmas of '96.

2. There was about a 2 inch patchy covering of old crusty snow on the lawn that had been there for days. A light dusting of snow fell Christmas night to cover the entire lawn, but it began to melt even before the sun came up as the temperature, which temporarily dipped to 10 degrees during the night, quickly rose and was in the 50's by that afternoon. The sun rose at 7:20 that day.

3. The crime scene photo of the lawn was taken shortly after 6 AM when the dusting of snow that fell that night had not yet melted. It's hard to determine from the picture if the bicycle tracks were made in the old snow, or the new snow, or both.

4. Joe Barnhill apparently said originally that he saw JAR walk up to the house during the day after the Ramseys had left to go to the White's dinner party, but rumor has it that he later recanted that comment. The question that remains is: was pressure put on Joe to change his story to go along with the massive coverup that had been launched that reached all the way up to include the D.A., the courts, and the Colorado State House?

Did John screw up in the '98 interviews?

From the '98 interviews...

LOU SMIT: Do you remember kind of what the kids got? What she got?
JOHN RAMSEY: Well JonBenet got a bike. I think Burke got a bike too. It seems like we had three bikes there.

She wasn't able to ride it yet because it was bigger than her old one. She did play outside. Many people saw her on Christmas Day.

Thanks Tipper, I am fairly new to this case and some of the details I still am finding out.

LOU SMIT: "You know, I've looked at a lot of pictures in regards to this particular case and I can't remember seeing any bikes. What happened to the bikes?"

JOHN RAMSEY: "Well, they were in the garage I guess. JonBenet rode her bike for a moment outside before we went to the White's; just round the patio."

How would the boarder across the street know how much John Ramsey's bonus was?

If he was in that house for a few hours I suppose he could find out most anything? Certainly he deserved a spot under the umbrella, ya' think?
Shiller claimed, in his book, that Barnhill could not be excluded if the dna came from two. Odd that we all let this go,isn't it?

JOHN RAMSEY: These tracks in the
7 snow here, might have been bicycle tracks.
8 LOU SMIT: That's in photograph
9 101?
10 JOHN RAMSEY: Right. It wasn't
11 unusual for him to ride through the yard.
12 LOU SMIT: Did you say he had a
13 bicycle that Christmas?
14 JOHN RAMSEY: I know we got -- I
15 got a bicycle. I think that's what it was. I
16 gave myself a bicycle.
17 LOU SMIT: That Christmas?
18 JOHN RAMSEY: Yeah, Patsy got a
19 bicycle, I got a bicycle, JonBenet got a
20 bicycle. Burke already had one, I am pretty
21 sure.

Sissi,

So everyone got a new bike and other things except Burke. Burke got a Nintendo, a parking garage model, and clothes (at least that's what I heard through the grapevine). Hmmmm.

Don't forget the remote controlled car.

Even though we do know Jonbenet rode her new bike briefly on the patio....I dont think she was seen by anyone outside much on christmas day.
I thought she was sick that day and had been in her room mostly until the Whites christmas party....but I'm not sure where I've read that. Maybe it was the day before that she was sick..... I seem to remember something about her being inside and in her room sick at christmas time.
