Re the JPMorgan event, it does play a role in their future events. Personally, I think they are using that event to test the waters to see how ppl react to their public speaking. Beyoncé was there with her husband too. Even though they declined to attend the Oscars, many celebrities were attendees at the Miami event. The end effect can go two ways, success or a PR disaster. I think they are relying on LA style platforms to make money. There are better streets to take than this approach, IMO. Its great to see that PH is talking about his mental health issues but is it appropriate to reference his mother's car accident over and over for a profit? To me its bringing the headlights to a traumatic event that pours more salt in wounds. MOO

I personally find the Duke of Sussex talking about his Mother’s death and his grief at a paid speech worth hundreds of thousands of pounds very, very distasteful. If he was at a mental health charity or a bereavement organisation I could understand giving a free speech about it to raise awareness.

Are we even sure the JP Morgan actually happened? And if so, the contents of a speech?

I’d be so disappointed in PH if it were true that he’s paid to speak of his grief like that.

It eclipses his brother who went through the same trauma.

It happened. Many articles are out showing PH speaking at the podium. I truly think he is lost in all of this. He took action to "protect" his wife and child but what steps did he take to help himself? In re to payment at this event, it's still unknown. MOO

The one year review will be interesting.

Jmo, but the JP Morgan event appearence will cause major turmoil and quite frankly it will be seen as using a bad exp for a profit.

So many other organizations that would be so much better for them.

MOO

Thanks for posting this, Oregonmama.

This article sounds like the DM.

No excerpts from his speech.
Forbes is not a tabloid. Perhaps there was a clause not to publish his speech. JMO

Yes, I know that.

So that’s why I am surprised.

These types of speeches are usually uplifting and inspiring. I doubt he talked about his mental health and instead would bet he talked about finding meaning in his life and looking for ways to do good after the tragedy that happened to him. People are enjoying a fancy dinner, unlimited drinks, it is usually relaxed and meant to make these rich bankers feel good about themselves. Usually these things are private. They will make an announcement at the beginning that the dinner is off the record and please respect the speakers privacy. A former Presidential candidate gave one at a dinner like this hosted by a law firm I used to work for and we were prohibited from bringing our phones in and that person gave a speech about how important corporate law is (lol) and how we should all do more to give back to our communities.

I think it's being painted in a way more negative light in the media than anyone who ever attended one of these self-important schmoozefests would think. It's filler!

They have until the Spring before they are to stop using their HRH titles. They are starting to get their name out there before that happens. Clintons used the JPM platform too. Many other celebrities did that as well. My point was there other orgs to partner up with and that are more reputable than JP. Its turning more to celebrity life than using the causes that are more important. JMO

I can't disagree more. If you're raising money for philanthropic efforts there is no better place to go then a summit of investment bankers and investors. That's where money comes from. Every industrialist and every company out there has worked with JP Morgan. It has nothing to do with "celebrities." Every major philanthropy and family organization. All across the ideological spectrum.

Harry's criticized for courting publicity and then he's criticized for giving private off the record speeches to sophisticated investors without any publicity. The hating just to hate is getting out of control.

I *thing* Beatrice will go for a traditional dress but I am *hoping* she goes for a modern dress. I will be SO THRILLED if she is in a modern looking dress. I'm still hoping for that big trendy bow! :p

If she is traditional in terms of the colour, her hair will look magnificent against ivory or white

William is the President of BAFTA. Nothing wrong with supporting the arts. But if the arts are gonna stop being arts and start (as they already have) to be homages to pop culture and progressive politics, then I agree he needs to step away from it or bring it back to its roots.

Thank you for that information, if William is President then it makes sense for him to have an opinion and express it. And if he has as a goal more diverse participation in the film industry that sounds like a worthy goal. To me it looks a lot better from a "promote British culture and business" perspective than a "hobnobbing with celebrities" perspective.

Re the bold, that would depend on whether you see labelling a "lack of diversity" in BAFTA nominees as an "art" issue or a "political" issue. For me, it has nothing to do with art and only with politics, so I would say (and hope) that Wm. would stay out of it, as he is required to do when it comes to politics. jmo.

I didn’t know Beatrice has a future step-son. He will be in the wedding.

Princess Beatrice’s Future Stepson Will Be in Her Royal Wedding

Mozzi shares joint custody with his ex, who splits her time between London and Hong Kong.

Yes! Modern times, indeed! :D She is not only becoming a wife, but a (step) mother!!! But since we now know she has known Edo since childhood, I think she already knows the son quite well. Hopefully it will be an easier transition with that history.
