Delighted to see Harry looking happy, relaxed and comfortable in his own skin, looking trim too!

I think this move, while not ideally executed, is absolutely the best thing for him right now. Perhaps in time that will change but, as I said when the news first broke, I wish them nothing but the best. Time to leave them alone to do what they need to do. It is what it is.
The Queen is a very smart woman. She put in a 12 mth review clause in their plans. Hard for anyone to leave them alone when they both want to be global superstars . JMO

You’re cracking me up.

BTW, you and Only4Justice are confusing me with your avis, which appear as almost the exact shade on my device. I didn’t realize until now that I don’t always look at the name, but assume authorship based on a glance at the avatar. Must be more careful when scrolling quickly.
It's the only pic that would load for me. I hated that psychotic looking bird but at the time it was the only pic that would load :)

I'm not a royal watcher by any means. In some ways I think the royal family is an anachronism held over from another age. It doesn't matter whether Harry wants to distance himself from his royal duties. His desire doesn't eliminate the fact he is the grandson of the Queen.

He will always be a target for political reasons. His family will equally be targeted for political reasons. It's very similar to ex-presidents. Every US president has a security detail for life. No country wants an attempt on the life of a royal or ex-president on their shores. It's bad for business and relationships, internationally and domestically.

I think we should honour his desire for privacy and to be financially independent. His dad is going to be King one day soon, and that matters. If Britain decided to get rid of the monarchy they'd probably still be responsible for ensuring the safety of ex-royals for a period of time.

From a personal perspective, I don't splash personal photos, especially of my children and grandchildren on FB for all and sundry to view so I don't see why royals are required to provide them to the public either.

Welcome, Branmuffin. I agree with everything you've said. Unfortunately some people seem to think they ARE owed information, which presumably is precisely why Harry has made this move in the first place.

I wish the media had been as interested in me when I got married and moved to a different country with my husband. Seeing as it's such an unusual and dramatic thing to do. Sigh :(

But your not royalty and MM did not understand the Royal background at all with its traditions. PH is royalty and the media interest comes with that. Too bad they didn't help her more in understanding their family traditions.

How can a person NOT know about the RF? She like many others know that the media is always there . Perhaps she is sensitive when things don't go her way. It was proven that she allowed other ppl to request articles be changed to more positivity. IMO

I know, it's ridiculous, I don't understand the obsession with them at all. The sad thing is, between them and Andrew, it's detracting from all the wonderful work the others royals do. There are some very bitter people in this world.

Hello Branmuffin. I hadn't thought about ex Presidents having security for life. I see a strong parallel with Harry's situation, although I guess one big difference is that he didn't choose to be born into the RF (and equally has chosen to step away).

I agree totally re the privacy. I just dont believe anyone has the "right" to intrude. I don't buy the argument that people who have a public profile for work reasons are giving up their right to privacy.

Charities and causes wouldn't get half the awareness they get without the royals behind them.
I think we should have a Royal News channel. Like Sky News, but just all about the work the royals do.
