Aaron Wudrick from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) has cautioned Harry that he faces being given a “chilly reception” in Canada if he goes on the offensive with his global warming campaigning.

Mr Wudrick pointed out that almost half the country and western Canada in particular, where Harry and Meghan have made their new home, relied on the oil and gas industry for an income.

There have been many reports that PC doesn't have a lot of money that ppl believe he has. He gave up a lot and had to liquidate during his divorce.

He got $22million from the Duchy of Cornwall alone last year. Harry has plenty of money of his own to cover his expenses. Get a house in a gated community, buy a high tech security system and employ a bodyguard when they go out. Then pay for it yourself.

Ain't that the truth! Oil, gas, coal jobs are good money. Especially when good jobs are drying up. A job at Walmart doesn't compare to working the oil fields.

Harry, who has never had to worry about paying rent, or making a car payment, is probably not going to be well received with any message that would cut good paying jobs.

At one time this thread was so much fun. Positive discussion. A place to decompress from the horrific threads. Does it really have to keep going off the rails. So many here are trying to preserve this thread. If u don't like certain Royals I get that but man i keep popping in to see much of the same old nasty. How disappointing. IMO

Western Canada depends on oil jobs. They are a big producer of oil in the sandlands in Alberta

It is current news and it has changed the dynamics in the RF. I am thankful Tricia the owner of WS allows us to post respectful opinions. The Monarchy has changed so much and that is unique currently. JMO

It seems some posters are hellbent on derailing the thread. The irony being Harry and Meghan are no longer senior royals, yet they're taking up 90% of the thread and completely detracting from the wonderful jobs and charity work that the Queen and rest of the family carry out.

Can't Harry and Meghan have their own thread, so those who wish to discuss nothing else can do so?

They are still senior royals until the end of March and today's discussions have been cordial with the varied opinions.

I also have been posting about PB today and her future stepson will be the best man.

I think the problem with private security is international travel and regulations surrounding that. Protection officers employed by a country are allowed certain privileges that private security would not be allowed. So the UK is gun free with a few exceptions being the police etc as are some other countries, a private security company would not be able to carry guns. Even if you're talking about countries with more lax gun laws you would have to have permits to carry guns in every one of those countries and could not presumably carry them on to a commercial flight like government security (David Cameron's bodyguard recently got in trouble for leaving his gun in a plane bathroom by accident), maybe you carry a handgun could on a private flight, I don't know. Even if you checked the gun in your checked baggage it would cause a lot of hassle or you'd have to hire additional local security when you travel.

Essentially H&M cannot buy the type of security they currently have. It gets even tricky if they offer to pay for it themselves (which I can't imagine) because then maybe anyone could request a similar arrangement and we've already been told that there aren't enough personnel to cover the current amount of people being protected.

I also wonder if like the Canadian government statement said yesterday that they will cease to have the designation of internationally protected people once they cease their royal duties presumably a lot of the agreements that allow their protection officers to carry firearms and do other stuff that private security couldn't do will no longer apply once they lose that designation.

Its very interesting but seems very messy.

I don't know but I would think that once you are just a private citizen, which is what PH states he wants, then your protection would be the same as the average citizen would be allowed re weapons in the home or armed security service. I don't think they will be long in Canada, probably California will be where they end up, where 2A rights would cover them.

I would love it if you would post some of what you see as the positive fun stuff this thread is missing however I do agree that the current news in the BRF is quite involved with Harry and Mehgan and people seem to be trying to be respectfully discussing it. I like both myself. One can always scroll and roll.

AMANDA PLATELL: Stump up for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's protection? That's rich! | Daily Mail Online

”Welcome to the real world, Harry!”

“He can’t have it both ways. He rushed back to Britain, insisting he’s just an ordinary bloke without royal trappings — ‘Call me Harry’ he told us at an eco event in Edinburgh.

But normal blokes don’t live in mansions, they don’t take over an entire first-class carriage to travel to London after that eco event, as Harry did, and they certainly don’t expect to make a fortune and have police protection paid for by the taxpayer.

Well, not at our expense you don’t, Harry. We’re prepared to stump up for the royals who give good value”

A while ago, someone sugggested a separate Markle thread for peeps who didn't want to bombarded with disdain for her and Harry. Maybe if you or another who is of the same mind requested it, the request might be granted?
