Yep mickey, she'd be Queen Consort. It'll be interesting to see how that all goes. Personally, I wish them the best, they should have been allowed to marry decades ago.

When the Queen was crowned she said "I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong"

...so it is widely thought she will never abdicate. Maybe she wouldn't have said it if she'd known she'd still be working in her 90's though!

Camilla married someone else when Charles deployed in the Navy.

I thought that it was agreed that Camilla would be titled Princess Consort because of the prior divorce?

Here’s Why Camilla Won’t Be Called ‘Queen’ When Prince Charles Is King

“The intention is for the duchess to be known as princess consort when the prince accedes to the throne,” a spokesperson for the royal couple recently told The Times. “This was announced at the time of the marriage and there has been absolutely no change at all.”

Camilla reminds of HM in many ways. She doesn't bare her soul to the press/world, and she always dresses for the occasion, and in age-appropriate attire that suits her, rather than dressing to trends. I've always thought she does really well at that, even if I don't like every single thing she wears. It isn't easy for an older woman who wasn't a super-model in her day to always look good, and appropriate!

I was thinking the same thing.

I get the feeling that Camilla isn't at all bothered by this, although I have to say....would we even know? She's a tight-lipped one, hewing to the "never complain, never explain", style of comportment.

I say, though, "Princess Consort" is such an odd thing for the woman married to the King of England. I understand the reasons behind not wishing to use "Queen Consort", but this seems to open a "whole 'nother" can of worms. It's hard to imagine at state/formal events, where all the other wives of Kings are queens, and then there's Camilla..... a princess. I can feel the embarrassment both on her part, and on by everyone else in the room for her.

I really wonder, considering how much time has passed, if everyone wouldn't just want to move past the past (since they did marry and all!!!) and just act like it never happened, so to speak. Overlook it, rather than draw attention to it with a strange and signifying title?

I understand what you are saying, but I think she is very comfortable with who she is and doesn’t need an elevated title.

My sense is that she would be fine with staying as Duchess of Cornwall and forgetting all about this Princess Consort stuff

Yes she always seems on point with her wardrobe choices. Never too much nor never not enough. Striking an educated protocol balance.

Herat, I hadn't considered that. Staying the Duchess of Cornwall would likely draw less attention and, like you, I kind of think she's past a lot of that kind of thing. She's a very mature woman. There are never any questionable moves (like putting a hand on PC's back so that she can walk in front of him to enter a room!!!) and she just carries herself in general with great confidence.

She has her own home and often spends time there. She’s especially fond of making breakfast in her old robe for her grandchildren I read. I find the image of her making pancakes for a bunch of rowdy children, while wearing a ratty old pink chenille robe to be endearing, whether that’s exactly reality or not.
