I dunno, I don't quite get this.

I have mused about why the Cambridges chose to visit Pakistan, and I conclude it's because it balances Harry's tribute visit to Africa where he paid homage to his mother. Pakistan gives William equal billing to his mother's visit there.

However, Diana made a foolish visit there because she was besotted with Dr. Khan and thought by assimiliating his culture and visiting his family she could make herself his wife. She was totally unrealistic about the entire affair and he was at least rational enough to stop it. He was really married to his job as a cardiac surgeon and there would never be a good fit for someone as high maintenance as Diana.
Her visit was well-received and she had lots of great photo-ops with little children, etc. But the entire premise for the visit was not as it appeared.

I saw the visit to Pakistan as more a well-timed PR event for foreign diplomacy. I'm not all up on England's current status with Pakistan, but many western nations are trying to wind down the wars in that part of the world and foster some peace agreements and improved diplomatic relations. Good on England for trying to help out.

it seems the Queen is part of promoting this.

Buckingham Palace was helping to promote a documentary about Harry and Meghan's Africa tour releasing clips of Harry criticising the press and Meghan saying how tough it had been for her as a new mum.”

Harry and Meghan's official office was moved to Buckingham Palace in September so Buckingham Palace promoting the documentary doesn't necessarily mean the Queen.

What do you lot reckon to this wedding dress?

On one hand I like the pattern, on the other I think she should've worn a different fabric for the cape, and it's a bit odd on the boobage area. Cute tiara!

Further down the article we have wedding guest Beatrice dressed like a flippin' granny, AGAIN. She really needs to sort it out, she's only 31.

I rather like the dress. It's different. The repeat is on the large side.

Awww gawd, the ugly sisters are at it again. It's a tea dress, hardly appropriate for a wedding. None of it matches either!

It looks much better from a distance, especially with the train and the long veil well-displayed. I agree that up close it has trouble at the bustline, and it has a less than glamorous appearance. It almost looks like a cheap cotton at the bustline. But it is certainly striking and oddly pleasing, at a distance. Does the tiara have a similar leaf motif? It looks like it might.

Beatrice's outfit is quite granny, you're right. Her grandmother or her great-grandmother could have worn it. I liked her much better in the teal colored dress she was wearing in her engagement photos.

However, I'm crazy about the gray coat and the pink and gray heels worn by one guest. How utterly cute !

No criticism of Kate being whiny and too “me”focused when talking about being a mother?

Does anyone know if there are any pictures of Queen Elizabeth wearing running shoes/sneakers? I don't think I have ever seen her in such footwear.

Here is what I think: Meghan & Harry (and yes, even Kate and William) are trying to steer the monarchy in a more casual, emotional direction. It's working in the U.S. but very obviously is not working in the U.K. Which I guess makes sense....it is not us Americans who are helping pay for their lifestyles so why would we care that much. I don't understand yet why Meghan gets more hate than Catherine (for me, they both have their pros and cons, neither are saints). Oh well.
Agree. There is an enormous amt of crap dumped on her shoulders by the royal watching public. It's gone beyond shocking to just silly & embarrassing to see others post such hateful and spiteful things about a another female.
It says so much more about those who post negative and hateful words than the target on which they fling their spiteful selves.

I’m afraid the wedding dress reminds me of the Battenberg lace placemats and tablecloths sold at a store where I worked years ago. Sorry, but I think it looks better on a table.

I didn't think the letter came across that bad; the parts l read made me think Meghan was being genuine. Why wait until now yo take action when it was published in February though?

IIRC Harry and Meghan were trying to work things out with the paper out of court. Sorry, no link. It may have been in Harry’s letter.

For those who remember when Kate was a new bride in the family and learning the protocols.

The Queen Mother was alive and quite vocal on rules and regulations for the Royals. I always felt sorry for Kate as she was severely judged by The Queen Mother. Kate was an excellent and quick learner of the do’s and don’ts.

However, as anyone new in this family, occasionally she made a mistake and was severely criticized.

It angers me to see what Meghan does, many times on purpose, and Her Majesty doesn’t say a word! It must bother Kate at times recalling her first years and the criticisms she received. And, it is upsetting to William too.

***My opinions.***

“The Queen is worth £1.6bn and has an investment portfolio which comes to at least £500million, according to the newly released royal's rich list.

While Prince Charles is raking in money from carparks and surf schools across Cornwall, he has around £21m being paid directly into his wallet from the Duchy of Cornwall estate.

But this is before the Sovereign Grant is even considered - which has seen government granting the royals £82.8 million a year. This is up from £7.9 million in 2010.

Prince Andrew, who is otherwise known as 'Airmiles Andy', sold his £15m mansion in Sunninghall, Berkshire, to a Kazakh billionaire.”

I didn’t know the Queen Mother left £70 million in a trust for William and Harry. I think the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should go live abroad for a while I think it would do them the world of good to get away from the U.K. press.

I couldn’t agree more! If they went to South Africa (a Commonwealth nation) as Harry indicates he’d like to do, they could still continue to support their various causes. But they would be out from under the relentless scrutiny. And there is more sunshine, which is so good for mental health IMO.

I'm glad they're taking time off, they seem to need some time away from everything. I hope they turn off their social media fully and stop reading the press but IMHO if you've got a legal case pending you're never able to relax, theres always something to be done and an amazing level of stress.
Yes, agree. They need to go somewhere like in
the wilds of Northern Canada and work on their
marriage and getting to better know each other, and enjoy sharing their new baby and
living a more simple life. No wonder M is upset and flummoxed. She came from a background living with a single parent, not
a whole lot of money and learning to work to survive. This has to have been utter Culture
Shock for her. Many times there's too many differences for these marriages to work.
Plus, unfortunately, M does not have good
marital role models in her birth family.
She's so very out of touch with her comfort zone. I'm not so sure she'll ever adjust.
