The Queen will use her Christmas message to acknowledge a turbulent 2019 for the Royals as she says we can all overcome difficulties with 'small steps' (but there's no photo of Harry and Meghan on her desk... and definitely no Andrew!)

One's bumpy year: Queen uses Christmas message to address a year of personal turmoil for the Royals | Daily Mail Online

It certainly has been a tough year for Her Majesty. The royal blue is a lovely colour on Her Majesty. I think they have toned down the bling in the Christmas message this year because of the gold piano controversy last year.

Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah to you all.

Golden piano controversy?

It was Queen Victoria's piano, for goodness sakes.

It's not like Her Majesty The Queen hauled out all the massive diamonds and emeralds from the Tower of London and is wearing the Imperial State crown and bragging about her jewelry.*

* Although that would be rather cool, in it's own right and fun to have her talking about all this priceless bling in her own wry way.

Was Meghan Markle's face PHOTOSHOPPED onto Christmas e-card? Speculation as photographers and social media users say Duchess of Sussex's face appears weirdly in focus in Archie snap while Prince Harry is blurry

The Daily Mail makes a story about any nonsense. It would drive me mad being under this much scrutiny they need to give them a break.

I agree with you but people were complaining in the press and online that it looked very ostentatious and out of touch with the public with austerity and so many families having to use food banks.

I think it's possible. It's a bad photoshop if it is as the thing you put in the photo ought to match everything else without standing out because it's too clear.

But maybe Meghan took the photo and had to be 'shopped into it?

Either way it's a sweet photo so who cares?

The royal family is hiring a housekeeping assistant to join its staff at Windsor Castle, a new advert on their official website shows.

The role is described as being responsible for the upkeep, cleaning and care for a wide range of interiors and items, as well as looking after palace guests and involves travel to the other palaces.

The salary package is advertised as 'competitive', and the candidate is offered a 'range of catering and recreational facilities' in return, as well as the option to live in the grounds of Windsor Castle - where Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Archie also live at Frogmore Cottage.

This would be an amazing place to work and live near.

Keine Engel from article said:
snipped by me...

The Duke's return to Sandringham will have added significance for his family because while most people open their presents on Christmas Day, the royal family still keep to the German practice of unwrapping their gifts on Christmas Eve.

As do I - and Latvia! Must be from the German barons time here....

Who do you guys think Archie looks like? Early on, I thought he looked like Harry, but now he doesn't look like either of his parents to me.

I agree, they should leave them alone and appreciate the gesture.

That said, I also agree with the photoshop critics. It’s kind of bad. Why is Harry’s face blurred when it is on the same focal plane as Meghan? And the message is blurred... Also, B&W, while a beautiful artistic choice for their wedding photos is not too festive, here. Whatever, they made the effort. It’s a cute concept, but they need a better photoshop artist, or some lessons!

I also felt that Harry’s video Santa message needed some splash of color in the background.

Kate and William, and Charles and Camilla have lovely cards. Well thought out, well posed, and fun!

Bucksminster...Somewhere in London where the Queen lives, I guess :p

Is it true that the statue of Churchill has a charge because he said he doesn’t want birds ******** on him?

I have read different things about that.
Apparently NOT

Protestors on Churchill's Statue, Parliament Green
(April 2019 & May Day 2000)

(2012)

What would Churchill make of Britain today?
The Parliament Square Churchill statue was given a grass turf mohican and had red painted on his mouth like blood during the May Day demonstrations in 2000.

Five things about London that simply aren't true
Churchill isn't high voltage :D
Winston Churchill, being the modest sort, decided himself where his iconic statue would be placed in Parliament Square. In a final bit of genius PR, he organised that an electric current would flow through the statue so no pesky pigeons would besmirch his face...
This has all the alarm bells of an urban myth.
The fact Churchill's statue looks relatively clean is more to do with the fact no trees overhang the monument.
Or maybe it's because London's birds can't balance on his shiny bald head.

5 Things-London

 Brass isn't the best metal to choose if you wanted to electrify the pigeons (or even protestors unfortunately)

What is Electrical Conductivity?
Electrical conductivity is the measured amount of current generation created on a metal target’s surface. More simply, it is how easily an electrical current can flow through a metal.

Which Metals Conduct Electricity?
While all metals can conduct electricity, certain metals are more commonly used due to being highly conductive. The most common example is Copper. It is highly conductive which is why it is has been used in electrical wiring since the days of the telegraph. Brass however – which contains copper – is far less conductive because it is made up of additional materials that lower its conductivity, making it unsuitable for electrical purposes.

:p
I'm still questioning "Buckminster"

thanks for the info re the statue. I had never seen those fun pics.

Buckminster is American pronunciation. Like those unusual English pronunciations.

sin gin= I forgot what word that is supposed to be.

Leicester= lester

think of the time that could be saved by getting rid of those unneeded letters when typing. Probably when speaking, too.

I gotta say when I posted the pic initially I thought it was a terribly out-of-focus photograph & curious why they'd leave it so blurry
I put it down to catching Archie spontaneously moving (from whatever the planned shot) & they just went with it...he does look so cute!

When I saw now there's a brewing 'photoshop' controversy  I was confused thinking 'but it's a terrible shot (photography wise)??'

So...:p Look again

This is the initial photo from the first articles

This is the more recent pic

I’m wondering about the Buckminster Fuller Connection, too. I can’t find a building of his in London.

There are a couple of Buckminster inspired buildings...
The Gerkin in London, and The Eden in Cornwall.

I’ve been to The Biodome in Montreal, twice. It is a Buckminster Fuller marvel. —From ‘67 worlds fair expo, turned into a museum on the subject of water. One of the best reuse projects ever, imo.

Affectionately referred to as the Bucky Ball.

I was just kidding about Buck Fuller to cover up my spelling error. Busted!

His eyes have changed, looking more like Meghan.
My daughter seemed to change every morning there for a while.
