paying for security bills will have an impact in the next election...JMO

From this article:

"it was claimed today."

Claimed by who? Conveniently the article doesn't say. There is nothing on any official Canada or Trudeau site or social media confirming.

"Asked about the issue of who will fund their security, Home Secretary Priti Patel told the BBC today: 'I'm not going to provide any detailed information on the security arrangements for either them or any members of the Royal Family or for any protected individuals - that's thoroughly inappropriate for me to do so."

Then they have ex-mounties giving their opinions as "experts" despite not being involved at all.

I wouldn't call that an official confirmation.

they are not paying the security bill, There is a post up above stating that the govt has not even looked at it.

Just something from the media to get the people of Canada all riled up
JMO but just because a politician gives a statement to the CBC, it doesn't make it true. It's not unheard of for the Canadian gov't to cover some or all of the security costs during a Royal visit, so we will see how this turns out. If they decide to cover any of the cost, I will not be impressed.... as a Canadian taxpayer.

The DM is showing exactly what they are with that incendiary article about the security in Canada.
No wonder Harry called them out on his website.

They are deliberately trying to get Canadians to hate on the Sussex. Vile to the max

No one can force anyone to dislike anyone but actions speak louder than words and many ppl are not impressed with the drama the Sussexs displayed last week. It could been handled differently. PPl have had mixed feelings re the RF in Canada for a long time. JMO

I don't think this is true at all, I think it's pretty cool that they want to make Canada their home and being Canadian, I don't blame them, it's a beautiful country! But I don't think it's the responsibility of the Canadian gov't to pay for their security and would hold that against the government, not them. Again, JMO.

Sounds good on paper but realistically what is the Canadian govt going to do? Refuse to protect them?

Bringing up issues concerning Canadian costs for security is one thing, I agree it's a big issue. I just don't like rumors....Trudeau or the Canadian government has not said anything yet. It's disingenuous to put words into their mouths. I'd say shame on the daily mail for trying to report it as truth, but I don't think that outlet has any shame at all!

Honestly, the Daily Mail needs shutting down or something. They've always been a bit dodge but this recent stuff is something else! They'll be the first one leading with a black front page and wailing hysteria when the Queen dies though. I honestly think they're best being ignored on this particular subject (they do always have the best photos though - I'm torn!)

Yes, we are not told what the RF security costs the UK , but IIRC the wedding security was said to have cost well over £2 million.

I guess a lot of it in both cases was crowd control (well wishers in one case / protesters in the other)

Anyway, seems nobody has quite decided who's paying for what yet. And on the subject of whether Charles pays them anything out of his Duchy money, well, that's up to him, it's private income.

Wonder who will cover their security if they move to California? Probably not Trump, eh?

I don’t think they will be moving there anytime soon if he gets re-elected.

*Apologies I don’t want to get political I know it’s not allowed.

I bet the Canadians HAVE to pay for it.
They have to keep them safe in their country.

As a member of the Commonwealth we may have an obligation to pay for some part of the security.

What a waste of money put into Frogmore. Give the house to another royal and BP can offer space for visits if that happens at all... JMO

As far as the transition period, I think the Queen is referring to their financial situation. They want to be independent of public money but there will be a transition.

As far as Charles giving money, why not? Don’t most people give their children money? We simply have different financial abilities. Some people give their kids companies as Fred Trump did. Others of us give a $20 gift or perhaps just a cake.

The Queen could always have them move into Kensington Palace and give Frogmore to Beatrice after marriage. That's if the other royals want HM&A to be so close (and if Beatrice can afford the rent at Frogmore).

Ca is absolutely beautiful, growing up in MI, you were my neighbor & I spent a lot of time in Ca! Even baby Archie is in awe of its beauty, according to reports. At 8 months, lol!
At that age, every kid I’ve known can be awed by a dog hair found on the floor.
