Duchess of Cambridge 2018 evening gown poll

Kate's Calendar Updates & Favorite 2018 Evening Gown Poll - What Kate Wore

The gold one I find absolutely puzzling. If she was going for vintage I guess it's successful but it's neither pretty nor flattering. Even though I love yellow/gold, this is sadly at the bottom of the pile for me.

The soft blush cape gown is lovely. She looks like a goddess. It's a little unflattering around the bust region but that's a pet peeve of mine so really not a big deal. An easy #2 pick for me.

I LOVE the deep emerald gown!! It's flattering but simple and a beautiful color for her. She looks so much better with the pregnancy weight. This is my first place by a very wide margin.

Not at all a fan of the light blue fitted gown. It looks like my 1988 prom dress - like almost exactly (except mine was pink). 4th place.

The net/sparkle overlaid gown has me on the fence. It's very flattering on her, but seems like a matronly style. I completely respect that she has a position to fulfill, but I still see her as young and fresh, and this looks more like a MOB gown to me. I'd rate this as #3.

Your thoughts?

The only gown I’m enthusiastic about is the green one. I love it too. Except for the gold print (awful) the others are just adequate IMO.

The Queen, 92, drives her Range Rover without a seatbelt on a public road one day after her husband Philip's crash

If Her Majesty flipped her Range Rover in a crash like yesterday she could get a serious head injury.

Nope. I'm not on ANY social media sites/ platforms.

AFAIK You don’t have to be signed up for Instagram to see Jessica Mulroney on IG. It’s a public page. And whaddaya know...5 days ago she wore torn jeans!

I'm a fool': Prince Philip pleaded 'get me out' after his horror smash as Buckingham Palace faces questions over Duke's determination to keep driving aged 97

I wonder if he has "retired" due to an onset of beginning dementia, everyone is usually in denial about it, including the person who has it...until situations occur that hit them over the head several times...people who have beginning dementia symptoms are intermittently forgetful, slow response times, seem "normal", but with a comprehensive assessment it is quite apparent.

I don't like her, there again I am not a Royal lover. but whatever she wears it is wrong. The wrong colour/wrong fit/it wrinkles, she is not a model and I do get sick of hearing the press bleating on about her dress sense. Perhaps she does need a stylist, but having seen some stylists ideas I can well understand her not using one.

I do not care for her overly, either. She and Harry have dropped to my least favorites in the fam.

I think women are either naturals at picking out clothing that is both flattering and easy to wear, or they will make the same mistakes over and over and just not " get it".
Men don't have ALL that many style options, so the usual casual jeans or chinos, polo or shirt, or suit usually look OK to me.

What Meghan has done is something I used to do as well except for the price points: She's picked out designer clothing in ALL Natural Fabrics.
Woven Silk, Linen, Cotton, some Rayons, they all will crease very easily, especially linen and cotton UNLESS the presser starches the fabric with an invisible protective layer which doesn't make the item stiff, just wrinkle resistant.

Kate had an extremely great stylist ( except for the yellow silk dress flying up once) and she learned that wool and silk blend knitted fabrics rather than woven wear extremely well and hug her figure without being immodest. Some of her wear might even be blends with synthetic fibers, I don't know.

I used to go for that " Safari chic" look that Meghan loves ( but it was the 1980's and I lived at Banana Republic!).
Meghan needs standout JEWEL TONES. Royal blue, purple, ruby red, emerald green, the unique pink of pink tourmaline. I do not think any of the neutrals or weird stripes or prints she's picked have flattered her petite frame at all.

It would be SO easy to dress her ( when she's not pregnant) because she is slim AND small busted, and that's the way designer clothing is made to fit.

I think she and Harry should have more casual wear like jeans and shirts, sweaters ( jumpers) and casual flat boots or athleisure shoes. It's NOT like they have a ton of obligations right now.. They looked really cute and young at the first Invictus games they attended together in casual clothing!

I read today that she and Harry may have to give up their Cotswold " bolt hold" for financial reasons. OMG, how can they even claim financial difficulty? Must be angling for upgrades to the reno going on at Frogmore Cottage. That's all I could come up with...

Why are her clothes creased? Because she's trying to cram a pregnant body into non-maternity clothes.

Those ARE maternity clothes. Called bodycon dresses.

Gone are the days of loose clothing, big bows and Peter Pan collars for pregnant women.

I'm not sorry to see the bows go but not a fan of the bodycon look.

Holding the baby bump is the new reality too, its not just Meghan but most of the women on Pinterest. I came across that by accident and they are posing holding the bumps. ugh

Not only was she wearing the torn jeans she was wearing heels too. I think the heels in Jessica's instagram picture and the ones Meghan are wearing look the same. I think Meghan would greatly benefit from having a stylist who lives on the same continent as her.

Yes, quite the twinner look! I’m not impressed. I think Meghan needs a hands on stylist too...someone with great taste, a sense of style that’s right for Meghan, detail-oriented (proper fit, cuts off tags and irons wrinkles), who understands color, fabric and body shape. Meghan is too hit and miss and it won’t get easier with a baby.

For once, I don't disagree with the DM.

But I don't understand how they can focus on the wrinkled fabrics and in the same photos ignore the poor fit and lack of tailoring of her clothes.

Just one hideous example!

Whatever the issues with her clothes, these are the things a professional stylist would catch before the client wore the outfit in public.

This dress is creased because it doesn't fit.

Beyond Home Ec & a Mom who taught smocking & fine hand sewing, I have supported myself doing dressmaking & alterations.

Look at the bulge in the zipper. The bodice (shirt portion) is too long. Maybe half an inch or 3/4, but too long.

The pregnancy can certainly be a factor. I think her expanding pregnancy bust is pulling the sleeves forward as well, and that famous Bump is distorting that skirt.

As someone mentioned about the Duchess of Cambridge and knits, a knit dress would be much more forgiving of these daily body changes.

Or a dress that fits....

Don't get me started on the stilletos & frayed jeans -- headline claims Business Lunch while that's not nearly Business Casual.

If Catherine has a stylist, the Palace needs to arrange a share w/Meghan. Wait, maybe that was the source of the "feud" headlines....

JMHO YMMV

I was talking Royal talk to one of my family members two weeks ago. They were saying that Prince Philip had Alzheimer's or dementia. I said, I don't think so because I follow a thread on the interwebs (You Guys, of course) and they would know, and I have not heard that mentioned.

So what say you all? Does he, or doesn't he? I had never heard that before.

I don't know, and it is unlikely that the royals would disclose it either. I was just offering another potential explanation.

This. There have been several dresses where the retail link goes to a non-maternity dress. While I get that styles are more sleek & fitted now, the garment still has to be constructed to allow for the difference in shape from a non- pregnant figure. Meghan’s white dress with blue flowers was a prime example of that.
(Short curvy girl here who’s had to deal with fit issues her entire life and altered many formal dresses/wedding dress).

Bad idea. But it is a combination of narcissism, and entitlement sociopathy. Denial of age related issues.

"I can do what I want, and I don't care if I hurt anyone else.".

Common mentality. Note, I am all for elderly people maintaining independence, and yes, young people have wrecks too...but there really is no valid reason for this particular 97 year old man to drive himself anywhere. He can hire boatloads of chauffeurs. He is just claiming his independence, no matter what...my hope is that the driving license board restricts his license or yanks it.

His Drs have just ok-d him to keep driving and they would not have done so if there was any sign of him having dementia or Alzheimers.
