I, for one, am excited about the birth of Diana’s grandchild.

I think you've got it. Perhaps they're trying to facilitate some kind of bidding war with the news media. Recall Angelina Jolie did this when she was expecting her children w/ Brad Pitt. They did create a foundation with the funds that has given out a lot of grants to good causes, but it's still tacky. Like Jolie, I can't help but think MM is primarily doing this for celebrity and "brand" promotion. All JMO.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's $41 MILLION charity was mostly funded through photo deals | Daily Mail Online

I wouldn't be surprised if the couple already has a deal in the works with a major media outlet, i.e. People Magazine, to exclusive rights for details of the delivery, first photos, etc.

I luv Meghan. IMO she is not an opportunist. One only needs to look at her charitable work prior to even knowing Harry. I thinks she is as down to earth as Harry. If an opportunist I would think she would go for a billionaire who doesn't have the day to day constraints the Royal Family does. I see so much of Diana in her boys and I see Doria in Meghan. The rest of Meghan Family opportunists Yepper :D

Does anyone else find this strange?
With all the hype & stalkerish behavior going on I don’t find it one bit strange. I would probably be the same way.

But I also won’t believe any of these stories until it actually happens.

Not strange to me either. They will announce it to the world when they are ready. They aren't bound to the step introduction.

I can't decide if it's just bollocks made up by the paper or whether H&M are standing their ground as far as privacy goes.

Either way, I'm actually getting a little bit bored of it all now!

Does this mean that we won't know when Meghan is in labor? There was always "breaking news" when Kate was in labor while we waited for the official Palace announcement that the baby had arrived.

That's what it sounds like. I'm disappointed, I think it's like the country waiting with them and being happy for them when the gender and weight are announced.

This makes it seem like Harry and Meghan feel there's something intrusive about this interest, and I can't blame them for that...I wouldn't want all that attention either. It bothers me when the Royal Family suffer extreme intrusions from paparazzi and media, but I do think it's a shame if they consider putting out a notice that the birth is imminent an intrusion into their privacy. But on the other hand I would personally feel that giving birth should be a wholly private event.

So I guess I'm disappointed but understand that this is their baby, their baby's birth, and this time belongs to them and no one else.

The basis of it seems to come from an official Palace announcement, but at the same time the papers seem to be adding in a few things that weren't explicitly said in the announcement? Maybe for some of them that is because they've got additional information from private sources, but for other things I think it's more of the same old making stuff up and exaggerations for clickbait and selling papers.

Good question!

I don't dislike her, I'm just very skeptical of her sincerity and motives. My answer would be B and a few other reasons primarily having to do with her dishonesty. Nationality doesn't seem relevant. Throughout royal history, similar characters from GB, Europe and even within the royal family have schemed and plotted to gain power and wealth. I'm also skeptical of MM's highly materialistic and mercenary approach in promoting her connections and status to make a buck. Again, she's not the only person to do so, but others who have done the same have been judged harshly. No reason to exempt MM. I've always admired the BRF and it would be a shame to see outsiders turn that institution into a bunch of crass reality tv celebrities. I'm an American and I can't stand today's celebrity culture. I'm ashamed we're exporting it to the BRF.

Um... a "highly materialistic and mercenary approach in promoting connections and status to make a buck" has been quite literally the modus operandi of the British monarchy and aristocracy since the Plantagenets. Queen Elizabeth I famously refused to marry in order to manipulate monarchs and rulers around the world with the fanciful promise of marrying her. There are entire libraries of books written about strategic marriages and leveraging power and wealth for the promise of greater power and wealth.

This thread is getting into absurd revisionist history.

LOL ^^^

Yes, some have forgotten that 'they are NOT like us'. Not even close.

Everyone has to take a mercenary approach to life in order to live.

Money makes the world go round. as they say.
