STUPID NAME

Significantly lowers my impression of their combined IQ’s

The End
Maybe it has a special meaning for them. How rude

The announcer introduced the ring bearer at my wedding reception as Master XXXX Jones. When I asked my mom about it, she said that's how boys under 12 are supposed to be addressed. I had no clue. I guess it's a lost tradition in America, at least in my neck of the woods.
My mom always addressed cards to my son as "Master" when he was young.

Seeing the reaction to the name on social media and the jokes being made, helps me to understand why children bully other children. It's a learned behavior from their parents. This is a innocent baby. He shouldn't be the subject of jokes. JMO

I truly wondered how long it would take for the bashing to start. Cant have a happy event in this world today! I guess everyone's child has a perfect name and they looked impeccable days after giving birth. One of the things I luv about these two. They don't feel the need to be perfect. Their causes mean much more to them IMO. I am thrilled that Meghan and Harry want to keep their Son's life as normal as possible. Shades of them both and Diana IMO

It is a lost tradition. It’s the way I was raised. Oh so very long ago lol

I wholeheartedly agree with you! I thought it was absolutely beautiful the way they choose to introduce their son. The name is up to them; I don’t have to like it! :p

Yikes! Just when I thought maybe Meghan "got it" about how to behave... DM confirms story

Royal baby: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle name newborn son Archie | Daily Mail Online

"Delighted Harry and Meghan reveal their newborn son is to be called plain Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor as they take him to meet the Queen (but look out Prince George, whose nickname is also ARCHIE)

...The name is a dramatic upset for bookmakers, who had been offering shortest odds on Alexander. Archie was 100/1 and Harrison made no appearance on their lists. ..."

*

Look out Prince George? Whatever for, Prince George is the future king.

This article is hilarious

Not a name I would pick either but I, like you respect their choice.

I don’t like the name at all. That said, I’m glad they have a healthy baby. They look absolutely giddy!

Archie is a top 20 name for little boys since 2016 in the UK. It’s not like they named him Tomato. Lighten up folks.

Maybe, just maybe, little Archie’s name was inspired by Archimedes the celebrated mathematician, scientist and engineer of ancient Greece.

Eh, I don’t think anyone is being too harsh. We are all just expressing our opinion. Clothes, tiaras, baby bumps, baby names. Guess I just don’t see the harm in someone saying they don’t like it. We can all be happy he is here and healthy.

I agree! I don't like the name at all* and assumed it was another bit of fake news at first, but it doesn't change how I feel about the new ickle baby. I look forward to watching Archie grow up, I love bouncing baby boys, he's gonna be one helluva cute toddler before we know it!!

* PS: actually, when I think about it, I think it's the lack of royal-ness that's thrown me, rather than the names themselves. I know half a dozen kids called Archie or Harrison and, while they'd never make my top 20 (50?), I didn't really have an opinion on them before today.

PPS: I also know a lot of young children called George, Charlotte and Louis... and William, some Charlies, a couple of Katies and various versions of Elizabeth. Basically I've just realised royal names are actually dead common! :D

PPS I think Alexander Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor would have been nicer, known as Xander to modern it up a bit.

PPPS I'll shut up now. Tired / rambly.

Here’s MO. I think Meghan and Harry want to show their independence and “normality” hence naming the bub Archie but by having Mountbatten-Windsor as the surname defers to tradition. Bit like a bet both ways. Archie is casual leading into Harrison and then the formal surname.
It’s 8am Thursday morning here in Australia and whilst going about my morning the name Archie has grown on me. Our papers are mostly showing the photo of the new family with the Queen and Phillip and Doria.

They wouldn’t let my dad have dual. My friend recently applied and had to choose as well. Idk the rules there. But I do believe that the baby will not become a dual citizen due to being in the royal family. I don’t see them allowing it. I think MM is giving hers up to.

We had our youngest in Germany in 1993 and we were not permitted to give her a dual citizenship. We had to sign the paperwork making her a sole US citizen when we registered her birth with the Embassy/Consulate.

Will Harry be on maternity leave with Meghan ?

They are such a sweet threesome. So much love there, obvious to see.

Is it too soon to ask about baby #2?

:D

When you blend the names:
Charles
Dianna
Doria

One of the results that keep popping up is Archie. We all know Harry is a bit of a rebel, he may have wanted something that is in no way associated with any other royal.
