The new action ^^^ is related to alleged phone hacking. 8 years ago.

Ummmm.

I would hope that Harry has sought the advice of his father.

This new spate of lawsuits “ seems” like an explosive release of pent-up frustration, and I don’t think this is going to give him the satisfaction he expects.

The Royal Family has long dealt with leaks to the tabloid media and has been stoic enough that it seems that the interest fades if there is no reflexive response.

Harry is just coming off as impulsive and reactionary. I mean all this super-secrecy and duplicity over Archie’s birth, the hypcritical virtue signaling, and now this.

He needs help.

I just wonder why now if it dates back that long? I’m surprised there is not a time bar on how long you have to make a claim.

The Leveson inquiry was 8 years ago but I think the hacking was the early 2000's. Unless its more recent hacking that we aren't aware of, the statute of limitations has to have expired.

According to this the case was filed last Friday and hes using a different firm than for the other case

Your guess is as good as mine. Either he is receiving some very bad advice or he's having some kind of episode.

Thanks, wasn't much info available in the breaking news articles. I doubt any tabloid would be taking that sort of risk again.

So by this very bad timing he has just wiped away the good PR he and Markle got from their Africa trip

  • #787
Maybe the reality of being tied down with a wife
and baby and the responsible behavior it requires is starting to make him feel shackled.
For some young men it is very confining and
can feel like a tightening noose around their neck.
His current behavior could be his projecting
that anger onto the media instead of dealing with his own inner demons. just sayin'.

Prince Harry launches legal action against Mirror and Sun over alleged phone-hacking

The Duke of Sussex has launched two separate legal proceedings against the owners of the Daily Mirror and The Sun newspapers over alleged phone-hacking in the latest round of litigation against the UK press, it has been reported.

The precise subject of the legal action is currently unknown, with the palace reportedly confirming claims have been filed with the High Court "regarding the illegal interception of voicemail messages".

It is unclear when the alleged activity took place, and whether they relate to the phone hacking scandal of the early 2000's in which it was found journalists had accessed the private voicemail accounts of celebrities and members of the public at large to find and support stories

Surely any legal action should've been taken long before now? Is this still an 'open case'?
Isn't there a deadline for these things?
There was 4000+ hacking victims, can any of them just willy-nilly keep filing legal action even after the conclusion of the investigations, inquiries etc?
I find it hard to believe The Sun or the Mirror would be that stupid this could be fresh claims of hacking in recent years
Then again maybe not :D

This is getting ridiculous.

If hes suing for invasion of privacy in the UK its a tort so you have 6 years from the publication of the private information (Privacy Law | Frequently Asked Questions | Carter-Ruck). Harry could claim pre-Leveson that he wasn't aware how the information was obtained (because who would suspect that their voicemail was hacked) so maybe the time limit would run from Leveson but either way its well past.

You would hope post-Leveson that anyone "of note" got rid of their voicemailboxes. Its going to be a huge scandal if they have been doing it since. If its relating to the older stuff then he might just be throwing an expensive strop

I think he knows he doesn't have a snowball in hell's chance of winning. He's attention seeking.

...The Nizam of Hyderabad gave Her Majesty this Cartier diamond necklace when she married Prince Philip. Can you imagine getting a gift like that as a present? The Duchess of Cambridge has worn the necklace too.
;) Perfect timing for a glittering interlude...

Tiara Alert! :p

tumblr_pkoqd3opFg1wwqayjo1_1280.jpg
Presented to Princess Elizabeth of the United Kingdom when she married Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, this tiara! was part of the sparkling suite of diamond jewels from Cartier, the princess's gift from the Nizam of Hyderabad.
article-2139837-12EC9B33000005DC-629_306x4231.jpg
Made by Cartier, the design is appropriately based on English roses. Three floral brooches were detachable from the tiara for use as brooches. The Nizam left instructions that Elizabeth was to select the presents herself.

The Nizam of Hyderabad Tiara wasn't part of a set with the necklace although it was in the same style. It was also personally chosen by the Queen

Necklace
Made by Cartier in 1935, the necklace had been sold to an unknown buyer in 1936, however, it was reacquired by Cartier the following year.
The necklace also originally included additional pendants, which were removed in 1946. The piece has remained a mainstay in the Queen's jewelry collection ever since.

Described as "The pavé-set centre with detachable double-drop pendant incorporating 13 emerald-cut diamonds and a pear-shaped drop; the chain of 38 brilliant-cut open-back collets with an elongated oval brilliant-set snap."
Elizabeth has kept it in its 1947 form

:D To be cont'd...

But this^ for over 20 years now that's why he's been excused time & time again.
It's no longer a valid reason for this attitude or behaviour  He's a husband & father now, he has to deal with it & move on. Grow up & stop acting like a selfish little brat.

Sorry, but EVERY kid that's had to suffer the heartbreak of losing a parent, to every single one, it's still just as devastating as it was to both William & Harry, being in the public eye or not, that doesn't matter, it doesn't change that nightmare for them.
Only they don't all have the loving family, support, wealth & yes...the overwhelmingly sympathy of an entire nation who will forgive this unacceptable attitude & behaviour repeatedly.:(

Seriously if that hatred is still clouding his judgement, at this point in his life, is that honestly a reasonable defense? Or more to the point...Healthy?
He is becoming more & more irrational, seemingly at times unstable even, then it's proper, real professional help he needs NOT excusing,
...'IF' that is genuinely the reason.o_O

And other children to whom death has happened are constantly under the microscope. They are expected to buck up .

Oh, never mind.

Harry talks about mental health help he has had. I imagine he has been taught that he is not a door mat. No one owns him.

Where do people get off thinking that they control what he wants to do with his life?

HM Queen Elizabeth attending The Royal Variety Performance for her first time as 'Queen'

For years, there was speculation that the tiara had been dismantled, it was worn while the Queen was still Princess Elizabeth, but the appearances tapered off and eventually completely ceased as the years went on...

The tiara now exists only in photographs. :(
In 1973, the Queen decided to dismantle the piece, ultimately it was confirmed that the Queen dismantled it to make this...

Is it just me, but I can't think of a time, ever, I've seen a Financial Times! article show up in my Google Top News links?

Pretty scathing with it as well, which kinda surprised me

Prince Harry, the hot-headed duke does battle

The British royals’ new lawsuits throw down the gauntlet to the tabloid press

What made this legal foray remarkable was the 500-word online broadside that came with it. Raw, emotional, brimming with righteous anger, the statement was the voice of Harry unbound. What it lacked in facts or vetting it made up for in chutzpah...o_O

The proudly “woke” pair have also committed some howlers: they gallivanted on private jets while preaching action on climate change. “Heir Heads,” cried The Sun.

For the duke, this fight is about more than his wife. A lifetime of pent-up anger has gushed out, against the advice of cautious aides...

Fast forward a couple of decades and the Duke of Sussex, once seen as the royal family’s beaming rogue, is back on a mission to remake
Fleet Street.

This time the 35-year-old is bolstered by an Instagram account with 9m followers ... and a team of merciless libel lawyers. By his side is his wife Meghan, the savvy Californian actress who is changing how the world sees the Windsors — and how Prince Harry sees the world.

On Tuesday, the duchess announced something that was, in many ways, ordinary: she
sued the Mail on Sunday for publishing private letters to her estranged father Thomas Markle.
The royals have issued writs against publishers so often it could be a rite of passage.

“You might think it unwise to pick a fight with all the press.” No royal has ever tried anything like it, perhaps for good reason...

The risks are plain. Prince Harry cannot resist delving into news coverage, even venturing into online comments sections — what friends call “the dark hole”. If his gambit backfires, the question will be whether he can climb out.

 I've also noticed the articles now are veering from using the term 'Tabloid press' to 'Fleet Street' instead. Every one of the British media are using some form of 'War' references.

I guess the press might was well get enraged themselves instead of worrying about Brexit and all of that.

Harry and Meghan are so much easier upon which to focus

I don't think it would happen but I wonder how Harry would react to the press stopping covering his events? I can't image the BBC going for a boycott but I wonder what would happen if he was suddenly going to events with little to no press coverage or is that what he wants?

Do you think theres another phase of lawsuits coming? It would be impossible to sue everyone but a well done handful might be enough to stop some of the nasty stuff like the racism (but seeing how thin skinned Harry seems to be recently he'd probably go after anyone who criticised him flying private) like when McAlpine sent hundreds of people who claimed he was linked to child sex abuse but dropped them for anyone with under 500 followers for a modest donation to children in need (Lord McAlpine drops some Twitter defamation cases) but kept going with the more high profile people like Sally Bercow (Lord McAlpine libel row with Sally Bercow formally settled in high court)

Elton John: Night my flirty friend Diana had Stallone and Gere fighting over her... and the REAL reason we fell out

Elton John: Night my flirty friend Diana had Stallone and Gere fighting over her | Daily Mail Online

I am really surprised Elton has done this and brought a book out about his life he certainly does not need the money. I wish the information about his relationship with Princess Diana had remained private. This may affect his relationship with Prince Harry and Prince William as I doubt they will be happy about private information about their Mum being used to sell books. Elton seemed to be especially close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex given he paid for their private jet and let them use his Villa this summer. I wonder if he warned them this book was coming out and what was in it.

Other royals like Her Majesty and Princess Anne likely won’t like being in the book either. How do you guys feel about this book detailing his relationship with Princess Diana? It doesn’t seem right to me but it is his life story and I guess he has the right to tell it but I wish Princess Diana could be left to Rest In Peace.
