Ridiculous that this wasn't being guarded, whether £1m or £5m. As it was public knowledge that it was in situ at Blenheim and worth a fortune, someone should have been with it 24/7. Inside job? I'm thinking so.
o_O It was only put on display & opened to the public on Thursday - It was stolen in the early hours Saturday??

And then there's this

Blenheim's chief executive Dominic Hare said the theft had echoes of a "heist movie" and added it was the "first theft of this type in living memory" from the palace.

Mr Hare said the World Heritage Site had a "a sophisticated security system",
but said staff were "now challenged to look hard at ourselves and improve again".

I mean it's a pretty much one of THE most famous Stately Homes in the country & hugely popular with visitors...

 There's also plenty of speculation it's a publicity stunt pulled by the artist (or his involvement of somekinds) which he is strongly denying.

The owner of Blenheim seems to be tired of having a venerated stately home and seems to want to stir up notoriety with this kind of stunt. He’s reportedly got all sorts of wierd “art” all over the place there.

Ugh. Just leave tradition alone

 Yeah I'm really struggling to imagine anyone's that dumb! To think this place wouldn't have a reasonably decent security system in place and be stupid enough to even begin planning any kind of burglary in the first place.

While we're on the topic of Blenheim Palace :p
For anyone who may be interested here's a bit of fun-trivia about the family's history...(very condensed version)

No doubt the family name is very familiar to some, which has probably caused a bit of confusion.
Blenheim being the family home of the Duke of Marlborough, the most famous in recent history being Sir Winston Churchill, who was born there.

-Now bringing us rightly On-Topic for this thread - ;)

Sir Winston was also a relative of Diana, Princess of Wales...

 Spencer family history

The House was founded in the 15th century by Henry Spencer, from whom all members descend...

The senior branch of the Spencers (later known as the Spencer-Churchill family) is currently represented by His Grace Jamie Spencer-Churchill, 12th Duke of Marlborough, direct descendant via the eldest son male-line of Sir John Spencer, while the cadet branch of the family, the Spencers of Althorp who descends via the male-line from the younger son of the is represented by The Right Honorable Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer.;)

John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer, by Thomas Gainsborough

Rise to wealth
A close relative of Henry Spencer was John Spencer, who in 1469 had become trustee of Wormleighton in Warwickshire and a tenant at Althorp in Northamptonshire in 1486. His nephew, Sir John Spencer made a living by trading in livestock and eventually saved enough money to purchase both the Wormleighton and Althorp lands. Wormleighton in 1506, then in 1508, the estate of Althorp with its moated house and several hundred acres of farmland. He had grazed sheep here from the 1480s. Impressed by the quality of the land, he bought it and rebuilt the house...

Althorp House
Spencer, of Althorp House
... putting down roots at Althorp, Spencer provided what was to become a home for the next 19 generations. In 1519 he was knighted by King Henry VIII, he is now buried in the family chapel at Great Brington.

After the death of his elder brother, Robert, in 1729, Charles Spencer had already inherited his titles as well as the Spencer family estates. In 1733, he succeeded to the Churchill family estates and titles and became the 3rd Duke of Marlborough, while the Spencer estates (including Althorp) passed to his younger brother John. o_O

Never have I seen a ankle-length dress worn better. Charming.

Yes, it suits her body type and she wore low heels, which always look better with a longer, casual dress or skirt. Save the spike heels for shorter outfits IMO.

Prince Harry reveals details of mental health TV series with Oprah Winfrey for Apple's new streaming service saying: 'If people can relate to the pain then it could save lives'

Prince Harry reveals details of TV mental health series with Oprah Winfrey for Apple | Daily Mail Online

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Harry said that he realised that first opening up about his struggles in a podcast with journalist Bryony Gordon in 2017 had helped him to realise how he could help others suffering with mental health issues.

He added: 'When I did your podcast two years ago the response made me realise what an impact sharing my story could have, and what an impact other stories can have for so many who are suffering silently.

'If the viewers can relate to the pain and perhaps the experience, then it could save lives, as we will focus on prevention and positive outcomes.

......

I don’t see his story being any different or special. Lots of youngsters lose a parent.

I don't think Harry sees his story as different or special either. Quite the contrary, he's saying he can empathise with thousands of children in the same position - children who often don't get enough understanding or support from those around them. Harry, unfortunately, went through it all extremely publicly, in a family not exactly known (back then) for warmth and compassion, and is affected his mental wellbeing massively. I believe on this issue he genuinely wants to help young people in the same situation.

Princess Beatrice is currently in New York City and on Tuesday evening she attended a Woman for leadership conference. We loved her outfit - the royal decided to go for a running floral ruffle dress, which was by one of her favourite labels - The Vampire's Wife. The Liberty floral-print silk number had voluminous puffed sleeves trimmed with ruffles and a lovely tiered hem. Priced at £915 at Matches, the dress is currently selling fast, so don't delay if you want to treat yourself.

Sorry, Beatrice, that dress is awful on so many levels. Far too "old granny" for a 30-something and I suspect the Queen chucked it in the kids dressing up box years ago. I don't know why but she's always been my least favourite Royal.

On a related note, I went into some younger fashion high street shops the other day, and can confirm that 1980's fashion is indeed making a comeback. Scrunchies literally everywhere.

Oh, you're gonna LOVE this story about Harriet the toy monkey being lost at Buckingham Palace!
:D You just couldn't buy this kind of great PR ...

...A determined bunch, the children of the Adelaide Hills kindy wrote a letter to the Queen asking for her help.

...a letter arrived from Buckingham Palace advising Harriet had been found and put to work.

Last week, Harriet made her triumphant return to the kindy, accompanied by a new companion, Rex the corgi.:D

She also brought back a book, Does The Queen Wear Her Crown in Bed?, and a letter expanding on her adventure.

“They decided she needed to repay all the scones she’d eaten by working for a day as a member of the visitor services team,”

“They sent us more than half a dozen photos of Harriet in different poses with different staff members … doing jobs around Buckingham Palace.”

And since he is famous and has anything he could want, it shows people that it affects everyone and they are not weird
