The Duchess looks lovely here. They must be happy how this tour went the Duke and Duchess did great.

I.Hate.Those. Shoes.

Her ankles and calves are too skinny for those wide ankle straps.IMO.

I don't care for that dark color of burgundy on her. Too somber.

I did like the plaid trench coat from some other pics.

Good question. I thought they were not allowed to do that, but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't understand why she would wear that overpriced pendant when the royals have amazing jewels on hand. What is the deal with that?

All jewelry is "overpriced," with a markup of 500% or more (source: relative who was in the industry and knew the real cost of jewels). This particular piece seems to have a specific "Maori" theme to it and since it fits the geographical/cultural area they are visiting perhaps it was procured for that reason. Then again, if it is a loaned piece (not given free, not a gift) then it wouldn't matter what it cost since it's not being kept or purchased. But who knows...

I guess my friend was right when she said to buy ALL jewellery from a pawn shop or estate pieces. She also said she never pays riders on her insurance for it, just gets another piece. Sentimental person, eh?? LOL

Here's the other thing about jewelry for the common person: it's very rare to be able to sell a piece and get back what you think it's worth or what you paid retail (unless this is an insured item that was lost or stolen). Jewels can be an investment but we're talking super high end superior jewels (think: Liz Taylor or Queen/King of whatever).

Retail is a scam. Walking into a jewelry store in the mall or a jewelry section of any department store is a great way to waste money if your intent is to buy jewels (not merely some silver or 14K gold).

And my darling hubby always bought me a beautiful dinner ring for Christmas and for the birth of each child. I literally ran out of fingers.....like Liberace.

Off to the pawn shop in my next life. LOL

We had the same taste in jewels as Sparkle, all the rings were from Birks.

Lottsa money.....but beautiful pieces.

It’s a nice dress but it needs some bling a nice diamond broach would have been nice.

So for the sake of humoring myself, what exactly makes that sress worth the price? It’s lovely and fits beautifully, but it’s also simple (which I like). I’m no master seamstress but I know my way around a sewing machine and feel like I could make that - and so could thousands of other people. So what is it that affords such a pricetag? Is it the fabric? Just the fact that the designer is well-known?

Sorry for the rambling. I’ve just always wondered about fashion stuff. Project Runway makes me bonkers lol.

Not sure why, but maybe they didn't want her to take royal jewelry on the overseas tour. Perhaps they don't think there are enough security people on hand to focus on protecting priceless royal jewels while also guarding the royal couple.

That was an interesting read. Duplicates of every outfit sounds rather excessive though. I too wonder if they're all true

Some nice fashion on Catherine I hadn't seen before (the pink and black dress), or had forgotten about. This lilac color is what I've been envisioning for Meghan:

This to me is what a well tailored bodice should look like. Looks like gorgeous fabric too. For someone that asked earlier, yes a lot of what distinguishes designer clothing is the quality or uniqueness of the fabric and trims, and the construction of the garment.
