I am very excited about Kate’s visit to the college. It correlates totally with the US’s look at Adverse Childhood Experiences and how they affect people forever.

I truly believe this research if applied will help to deal with children so we have far less horror in the world.

These two Royals are so fabulous.

Red is my favorite, but I also like purple.

Purple is the color of royalty down through the centuries, so purple is my choice in non- spring/ summer months, then it's lavender. :)

How did Meghan dress prior to meeting Harry?

A lot less conservatively with cleavage and higher skirt length but she never dressed trashy. It’s hard to believe designers refused to dress Meghan or loan her clothing for red carpet events because she wasn’t high profile enough what a difference to now.

Thanks. What about colors, figure-flattering etc? I just feel like she’s trying very hard to be boring.

ETA: I did some googling and was surprised to find that her style really wasn’t drastically different - with the exception of the length of her skirts. Jewel tones black and white were very prevalent.

I am being honest when I say it's hard to believe that you haven't known of her history on TV, in a game show, and in commercials. Google is probably your best way to see how very much she's changed FOR THE BETTER, because I really don't want to detail what's out there that's irrefutable.. Really, this is likely not a popular thing to be talking about now that she's under the umbrella of protection of Harry and the BRF.

I believe she will be an asset to the Royal Family and to the world if allowed to flourish and grown in her own ways. Also, their upcoming child will bless and enrich Harry's and his family's life so much, so I'm not here to diss her. <modsnip - condescending>

Oh dear I had no idea it was controversial. I’m very sorry for opening a can of worms. I had never heard of her before her engagement to Prince Harry was announced. Was honestly just curious. Sorry again. I’ll bow out of the thread so as not to unintentionally cause any further upset.

She has been extremely controversial both in the US and UK. Likely, also somewhat in Canada as well.
Most of it is likely jealousy, maybe some people looking down their noses like they did at Kate.. neither come from titled families, of course.

I'm sorry my response seemed harsh, but I read all kinds of horrible things about her every day on the Daily Mail and other mostly U.K. newspapers online and it never stops. I've stopped reading the comments.
She's getting direct threats of harm on the part of the Royal Family IG which is her account. This is a NEW thing. It's been reported as a threat the Palace security is taking seriously. That's a lot of stress on her, especially being pregnant.
Someone is posting death threats to her and to Harry about her.

I didn't especially consider her much at all one way or another until someone was brazen enough to do that. If one person could do such a horrible thing, there are likely hundreds more who are working " behind the scenes" with other types of malice.

Just Google her history, go to You Tube for the commercials and game show and so forth. Also, she played the part of " Rachel" on Suits, a Canadian production for a cable channel drama in the US until 2017. I think she had a racy part but it aired on US TV in primetime, so it couldn't be that bad, IMO.
I just want to try to keep this positive without glossing over what may need to be said.

No, Flute, please stay. Your question was not controversial at all. In my opinion she dressed like a typical aspiring Los Angeles actress with more of a New York vibe if you ask me. Form fitting dresses, jeans and lower cut tops, lots of black and grey. Maybe not royalty but pretty average television actress.

You’re very sweet, Aletha. Thank you for answering my questions. :)

I had never heard of her either, flute. I never heard of “Suits” or the game show she was on. And I don’t understand why your comments were clearly misunderstood. It happens.

We had a whole thread about the Royal Wedding that morphed into fashion discussions, so when that got too full this one started. Some people like her, some don’t. I happen to think she’s great. But I think she has a way to go in the fashion department now that she is in the Royal Family. I really want her to succeed in that area too. And I know she will. I can’t wait for the baby! :)

I need to sincerely apologize. I didn't know anything about Meghan until she was dating Harry either.

I'm sorry I took an enquiry about her style history in the wrong way. It's just that there's so much " out there' in MSM now, and some of it is horribly distorted, some of it is very true, and some of it is threatening, like the RF's official Instagram account threats of bodily harm messages for Meghan specifically.. I'm almost the age of Meghan's mom, and with Meghan expecting her first baby, my mama bear instincts come to the surface.
Age is just a number, and Meghan's had to cope with a ton of life changes in a very short period of time, and every life stressor on the chart of life stress events has happened to her except the literal death of a parent in the past 12 months.

Still, I over-reacted and I'm sorry. She's always been a very independent woman, and is very attuned to women's rights in underdeveloped poor countries. I think she and Harry can do good together in the world. :)
That's why I don't care if she has worn skimpy clothing which was usually a part of a role or commercial she was acting in. She has a " real past" as opposed to some former RF in-laws and many in very serious relationships with a RF member who were so sheltered and blue- blooded that simple things were difficult and rumors tormented them.
There have been several, both male and female, and Meghan had to develop somewhat of a stronger outlook, being an actress in the public eye before she met Harry.

Again, my heart was in the right place, but I didn't pick a good or tactful way to say that she's changed a great deal and will likely wear clothing similar, but possibly not as strictly formal, to what the Duchess of Cambridge wears due to Royal protocol for their dresses, occasions, and so forth.

I'm so sorry, all of you, and I hope you'll forgive my faux pas.

Of course! Thanks for explaining. Hugs!

Thank you. Tears running down my face... I'm so very sorry for making things worse instead of better. I love you all so.

We love you...and your little dog too. :) We all have our moments. I’ve certainly had mine that I’m not proud of. But we’re all in this together. So let’s just sing kumbaya, do a group hug and keep going. :p:rolleyes:

Rest assured SeekingJana, personal death threats and things along that line would never be tolerated on this thread against Meghan, any members of the RF, or any human being for that matter. It's against Websleuths rules.
There are people out there who are cruel, why wish harm to Meghan? Your concerns for her safety are valid.
To be fair, there's always someone who likes or dislikes an outfit that a member of the RF is wearing. I think we have more of an issue with the outfits rather than the person :D .

I'm not a Meghan Markle fan, but I am happy for her and Prince Harry to be having a baby and hope that her sister develops an allergic reaction to gossiping once the baby is born.

I had never heard of Meghan before she met Harry, either. Just never watched Suits and I don't think she was known in the UK for anything else. She seems like a typical young actress with a lot of charitable interests, some guts and a voice, a good voice. I think she'll play a big, positive part in modernising our royal family a bit along with the others of this generation. I don't think the majority of Brits give a toss about her history, sounds twee but we're just happy Harry's happy!!
