The case against Crocs

  • #21
See, to me they make perfect sense for nurses and people in similar fields. Comfortable, easily cleaned, etc, etc.

But out and about for shopping?

I saw a woman today in Crocs With Socks.

Anything that sounds like a Dr. Seuss book should not be worn!

That does sound like a Dr. Seuss book..."Crocs With Socks, That Rocks." Not really, but I couldn't think of another word that rhymes with socks.

I see people wearing them everywhere from the grocery store to church. Crazy.

I will not wear them in a car...

I will not wear them in a bar.

I will not wear them anywhere!

Yep, definitely Seussian potential.

I admit to being a fashion snob, at times... have a LV collection to attest to that, but slipping one foot into Crocs hooked me... and yes, I have worn mine with socks: Crocs make for comfy shoes to wear when flying... slip off fast at the security line, while the socks stay on to keep your bare feet off the nasty floor. The last time I flew was home from Disney World and lookie there, what do you see: I wore my Crocs with Socks! Disney ones with little mickey heads cut out in them. Yeah, they are ugly... but their utilitarian value far surpasses the ugly aspect.

I have Plantar Fascitits and the only shoes I can walk in without pain are Crocs. I also thought they were dreadful and I'd never wear something so ugly, but now I love them!!

Crocs should be banished from the earth unless you are wearing them for strictly comfort purposes such as nursing. Otherwise, you wear Crocs, you are arrested. Period. The end. Amen. And adorning the Crocs with little clippy-on things???? Are you serious???

:D

I posted earlier, but I completely forgot to respond to this! Yikes, I am getting old...

I am tired of people failing to take responsibility for their own actions. How many kids have had their shoelaces caught in an escalator? Or their dangling jackets...or whatever. So many people are looking to win the lawsuit lottery these days. Put me on that jury. She won't get a dime.

I gave up trying to make a fashion statement many years ago. I love my Crocs. I fail to see how it is anybody's business what I have on my feet. They can look the other way if they don't like them. My main priority in all my clothing is that is must be soft. I refuse to wear anything any more that isn't comfortable.

I loved my Mary Jane style crocs but I just wore them around the house cuz I too thought they were ugly. That was until I recently broke my foot walking up my porch steps. The Crocs did not offer enough protection to prevent the fracture. After talking with several radiology techs they told each told me they have x-rayed numerous people who have had the same thing happen to them. So, beware. I don't think these shoes are safe. They catch and cause stumbles easily. Foot fractures are hard to heal. I have been laid up with crutches for 2 months now...........:behindbar
On the bright side, that's how I found you guys!!!!:woohoo:

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks they look like gardening shoes. They have really taken off among young children in Australia. You often see little toddlers wearing them. I always think that if people want to wear gardening shoes why not wear gardening gloves and a floppy hat with them? I've never worn them but I imagine they'd be dreadfully hot in summer. It is very humid where I live and I think your feet would get very sweaty.
They're cute for little girls in the bright colors. I bought the Payless knock-offs for my daughter- didn't want to pay their high prices- for sand, water, and mud play shoes. Good for that!

They are basically plastic versions of Dutch clogs.

My DH just recently bought a pair and he loves them. He wears them when he is photographing paintball - it's easy to wash them off and keep on going!

My husband was dead-set against them, he thought they were ugly, thought they were "girly"....until I bought him a navy-blue pair for Father's Day. Now that's all he wears when he's not working, and yes, he wears them with socks unless he's at the beach.

Before I got my Crocs, I used knockoffs when I visited Hawaii, because climbing all over the lava rocks in the water can get slippery... since they were fake crocs, I called them my "frocs" LoL. As a matter of fact, I have a pink pair of "frocs" on as I sit here typing. :D

Good thing it was porch steps and not an escalator. You could have fallen down the stairs for an hour and a half!

I won't get into my croc opinion, but seriously?! I thought it was plain common sense to avoid escalators when you have little ones...guess I was wrong.

I live in them and so do my girls! We have Disney, Maryjanes, and tons of other styles. I broke my foot about 7 years ago and since then, certain shoes hurt to wear. These are super comfy. Like walking in marshmallow!!!

I went through a bad bout with heel spurs two yrs ago. Crocs are the only shoes that I can wear that do not set my heels on fire.
