Brookfield resident Susan Braun up now. She was woken with a fright to "someone calling out." @9NewsBrisbane #badenclay

Braun: Disturbed by second sound calling out, not sure how long between the two. #badenclay

She's the one who lives almost across the road from the B-C house, next to the tennis courts (which she owns). So would be MUCH closer to the source of noises emanating from the B-C house than up at Clarkson Pl or Fleggy's house. Yet this witness describes the sounds as "someone calling out" - NOT a scream, and especially NOT a high pitched scream "like somebody being pushed off a cliff" or in Fleggy's words "blood-curdling screams".

Methinks there were multiple sources of noises that night, some screams, and perhaps - just perhaps - Sue Braun heard the actual sounds coming from across the road?

Ms Rhodes said the scream she heard was female and "fairly short in duration". #badenclay

Ms Rhodes says she was in her bedroom when she heard the scream. She thought it came from Brookfield Rd or up towards the childcare centre.

Ms Rhodes says between 15-30 minutes later she heard a dull thud and wondered whether a car had had an accident. #badenclay

Ms Rhodes says the thud was "loud and dull" like a sack of horse feed falling onto concrete. #badenclay

2.53pm: The 21st witness is Susan Ann Braun who lived at 512 Brookfield Rd at Brookfield in April 2012.

She said she was at her home beside the tennis courts on Thursday, April 19, 2012 when she heard some noises.

``It was after 11.30pm at night, I was woken to what sounded like someone calling out. I went to sleep and then I was woken up a second time with someone calling out,’’ she said.

Ms Braun said she heard the dogs next door barking around 10pm and 10.30pm.

She said she heard someone calling out after 11.30pm.

``I was sound asleep and I heard a loud human noise that was calling out, I don’t know what the words were, it woke me up with a fright and I just lied there to see if I could hear anything else and it would continue and it didn’t and I went back to sleep,’’ she said.

She said she was woken up a second time by the noise after falling asleep.

Ms Braun said the calling out lasted less than 10 seconds and that she was unable to discern any words.

``It came from up Brookfield Rd, which is up towards the Baden-Clay residence,’’ she said.

Ms Braun said her bedroom was at the front of the house facing the road.

Ms Rhodes gave her first statement to police on May 30, 2012, and another in June. #badenclay

Byrne QC suggests to Ms Rhodes it's not unusual to hear teenagers carrying on in Brookfield. She says "very rare".

Ms Rhodes went to the police command centre the following day when she saw police. She thought someone was missing from the aged care home.#badenclay

She says she didn't tell them about the scream. "It didn't even enter my mind." #badenclay

Scraps the barking dog...

April 24, 2012

A resident on a neighbouring property said her dog was disturbed on the night Ms Baden-Clay disappeared.

"It is unusual for Scraps as she is never yapping, but she went crazy on Thursday night ... she went out like a bullet down the yard and kept barking," she said.

Hi all
I have so much to catch up on.

I sold my home and it settles on the 20th - While I was packed and prepared as much as possible.

The truck arrived yeasterday and well things are very disorganised.

My last post was that I thought OW would be on the stand before the girls, how wrong I was.

IMO I think there is more to come from the girls.

Is it possible that Allison did pick the girls up from school then went to hair appointment,
returned home and put the girls to bed and then went to see her friend for dinner.
Todd Fuller did say in his opening (I think) you will hear that Allison went to the hair dresser and had dinner with her friend. That I assume would be based on the hair dresser and Kerri Ann Walker statement.

The girls had dinner at the grandparents ( that would be based on whose statement.

On April 28 or 29, police door knocked Ms Rhodes and asked whether she'd heard anything abnormal on the night. "We said no at the time."

Ms Rhodes: I couldn't put the night into perspective. #badenclay

Ms Rhodes: Once you've got that night into perspective, you start to remember other things. She says she went back to police in June.

I'd agree with that, as would most Brooky residents. Having spent so many years on call, I drive through and around Brookfield at all hours of the night, and have done for years, and usually am driving home very late too. One thing you rarely, if ever, see, is people just strolling round the streets. It's not the sort of place where gangs of teenagers roam around. Most are either out on the town, or at home. There are plenty of parties at private houses around the place, and occasionally one of those is rowdy. But in general it's a very quiet and sedate place to live.

3:03pm: The 19th witness to take the stand is Brookfield resident Anne Marie Rhodes.

She heard people fighting on the night Mrs Baden-Clay disappeared, before hearing a scream, then a "loud, dull" thud.

She told the jury she then heard the sound of tyres screeching towards Brookfield Show Ground.
