squizzy1, the affair had been going on for 3 years when Allison found out. There had likely been some relations between ABC and GBC in that 3 years, albeit in the earlier part. I would be getting a STD test too in those circumstances.

and the chipped tooth

My theory with the chipped tooth is, Allison was trying to use her phone during a struggle with GBC which resulted in the chipped tooth from the phone, the scratches to his face and the body welts from Allison holding onto his clothing.

I found it Mefloquine, marketed as Lariam.

"Mefloquine (previously marketed in the United States as Lariam®) is an antimalarial medication with potent psychotropic potential. Severe psychiatric side effects due to mefloquine intoxication are well documented, including anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, persecutory delusions, dissociative psychosis, and anterograde amnesia. Exposure to the drug has been associated with acts of violence and suicide."

So the drug has form, but I reckon you'd have to work hard to show evidence of recent symptoms - certainly not borne out by testimony of today's witnesses.

Ms McHugh agreed she had texted Mr Baden-Clay and demanded to meet him in June 2012. They took a taxi to units Mr Baden-Clay was renting.

“I had asked him, yes, to explain,” Ms McHugh told the court.

They met for 1.5 hours, during which time they discussed Mr Baden-Clay’s other affairs and he told her she should fall in love with someone else.

Ms McHugh said she accepted his decision because “his girls (daughters) would never accept me anyway”.

Mr Byrne asked: “Gerard’s never discussed with you (the) circumstances of his wife’s disappearance?”

Ms McHugh: “No. Only to say he didn’t know what was happening.”

I know it may seem odd to some that Allison and Gerard were still intimate whilst he was having affairs. Let's all be realistic here...even in bad relationships there are times of intimacy where things aren't as bad. I do believe they would have had sex at times even during a bad relationship. On the day my ex fiance left me we slept together in the morning and an hour later he threw coffee at me and walked out. I know it would be hard to understand if you haven't been in a rough relationship, but there are times of intimacy.

I actually think Allison was an eternal optimist, that she could make things better, she could improve, Gerard would change. I felt the same way about my ex fiance and was shocked when he snapped and left that morning. I am so glad he is gone now because I realised that whilst in that relationship I adjusted my expectations. Not so bad became good, bad became mildly acceptable but you constantly hoped for change. The gauge for what is acceptable moves as they wear you down. If you are a soft hearted, sensitive, loving person as I believe Allison was, then this sort of treatment by another would have a massive effect. Also Allison was always an achiever and to have felt that she was failing at her marriage because Gerard was constantly putting her down, would be hard to accept.

So Toni states that she knew Allison was fragile, knew it would impact their kids and STILL persisted...what a piece of work. I think she has NPD...

Yet she claimed she and GBC never spoke about Allison

The name and the prestige that went with it would have opened doors particularly in British society, but also in South Africa, not something Australians take a lot of notice of and something that they smirk at about "poms". The pride though of the Baden name would have been very strong, hence Olivia name change.

Gerard was the third child and the second son, really nothing remarkable and truly the "spare". He would have known all his life that he wasn't as "good" as his brother, but would have strived to prove himself to Dad.
