12:13pm: Mr Byrne has detailed the Gerard and Allison's relationship from its early days to the first sign of her depression.
"They both worked at Flight Centre ...
"They worked in the George Street office and they became friends. They began to date and he will explain to you spark and connection between them and that for him that meant a long term relationship. He'll tell you and he'll be frank in what he tells you about all of these things, he never really connected with Allison's family, but he certainly connected with her.
"The next year, 1996, he proposed to her and she accepted. They immediately drove down the coast and told [Allison's parents] about that and they were both warmly congratulated.
"They both started planning their life together ... with a lengthy overseas working holiday/honeymoon, which they undertook.
"For them it was meant to be a journey of a lifetime and experience and travel the world together and experience this together. They were both young. They were married on the 23rd of August 1997 and a week later they left the country. They went to Kuala Lumpa, the Maldives, Spain, Turkey and Morocco.
"They were both high achievers. Whilst they were in London they got jobs. Gerard worked as a financial systems consultant for Blockbuster International. Allison worked as a trainer."
