Gerard says there was an occasion where Toni went overseas. He hoped that would "be the circuit breaker". #badenclay

Gerard says he was with Toni "primarily for the physical intimacy". #badenclay

The overseas trip is probably when he bought her the camera

The trouble for GBC is that the timing is all wrong. Even if Allison is in the deep depressions, going to bed at 5pm and not coping with 3 young girls, she never attempted self harm.

At the time of her death, she clearly had it together. Youngest daughter is now at school leaving Allison free to work 4 days in the business, run the ballet school etc, etc. evidence has been provided even by OW and Gerard that she was fine, no problems. That very day Thursday she was full of plans. Plans for the future of the business with the consultant she met with that day, plans for the conference the next day, plans to drop off dresses to Kerry Ann, plans for a sleepover the next night etc.

She was happy that GBC came to counselling and had hopes for saving her marriage. She was crossing off the list of questions she had in her diary as they had their 15 min sessions.

There was no reason to kill herself whatsoever.

10:52am: Mr Baden-Clay said he eventually told Ms McHugh there was no future for them. He said he tried to break off the affair numerous times.

"There wasn't a future for us together ... and if there wasn't a future for us then there wasn't a point continuing," he said.

"Typically, that was the basis of the conversation. She would always get very upset about that. She was a bit more of a volatile personality. She would get very angry and agitated about that. And as I say sometimes I could hold out against that for days or a week, sometimes for longer."

How could anyone claim this BS, a man with a volatile mistress claiming he wanted to work through 'challenges' in his marriage.

Pants on fire Gerry!

10:55am: "Why were in the affair with Toni McHugh," Mr Baden-Clay's defence counsel Michael Byrne QC asked.

"Primarily for the physical intimacy. I was flattered at the outset because she looked up to me as a boss and I was getting acknowledgement and appreciation, which I hadn't really experienced before," Mr Baden-Clay replied.

He said he was able to "compartmentalise the physical from everything else" and continue to work on his marriage with Allison.

"Aside from the physical relationship we were having challenges in our relationship which we were trying to work through," he said.
