This is where I speculated yesterday that the prosecution was going to come undone. Insufficient botanical surveying and the failure to investigate Ms Apps' admission effectively killed off 2 of the prosecutions strongest leads.

Even if you argued that the Ms Apps' evidence was not necessarily fatal to the prosecution cause in itself, if it had come to light earlier then I am quite certain that the PT would have restructured their case in a not insignificant manner. I'm sure Messrs Boyle and Fuller wanted to tear their hair out when informed that investigators had completely overlooked something so vital.

The PT did a lot of botanical surveying - The defence have a problem in that their "tidal" video is COMPLETELY incorrect!

and the botanist is a bloke from Olivia's church???

That could be the case (I'm unsure), but remember that he was commissioned by the Crown, not GBC.

Sorry to be a bother. but now that closing arguments are in full swing, did the prosecution not cross examine the defense's witnesses. Did I miss a day...or two? Is that not done? TIA

Byrne says initial police at the scene talked about getting to Allison's body before the tide rose. #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 1m
Byrne is now referring to evidence from an engineer who looked at tide charts. #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 6s
Byrne says the engineer said he couldn't tell if the body was below the high tide mark. #badenclay

WTF does an engineer have to do with tides???

Yes they did - you must have missed it...

So Allison's hair wasn't completely covered by her jumper? That seems to be what Byrne is suggesting if he is pointing out her hair in the photo.

that is incorrect.. Ashton Ward.. the botanist is the defence botanist.
