The death of Princess Diana

For my fellow Diana fans, I recommend you read the new book by Tina Brown called "The Diana Chronicles". Very well done.

Can you elaborate a bit more about the book, rmf?

I haven't seen the movie yet- I think I would find it a bit boring, as pretty much anything to do with the Royals does :p

Diana was the best thing that ever happened to that royal family- how courageous she was, giving hope to AIDS sufferers everywhere, fighting for the banning of landmines..

I don't think you would find it boring narla. I agree that Diana was the best thing that happened to the royal family. Unfortunately, Diana had to die before they realized this, especially the Queen. The movie portrays this. It actually humanized her. I actually felt sorry for the Queen in the end. She had no idea how much Diana was loved by the people.

As one who has read ALMOST every Diana book and who traveled to Cleveland to see the traveling exhibit from the Diana Museum at Althorpe that included her wedding dress (magnificent and unbelievable how long the train was!) I sat glued to the TV set watching the Memorial.

I will certainly be purchasing the Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown.

Harry seems to be maturing nicely, and he is a cutie. William is also just darling, but my oh my his hair loss is progressing rapidly at a very young age. I was kind of shocked when they showed the back of his head. Poor thing, I wonder if they have Hair Club for Men over there? He needs it already!

It is a book about Diana's life, marriage, divorce, etc. I wouldn't necessarily say there is any *new* information there, but it is very interesting and well-written, IMO.

Me too AS! It was startling. I've seen young men with receding hairlines but not a bald patch. I feel sorry for any young man that this happens to.

Here's a link about William and his baldness:

Thanks rmf. I will get this book.

The public inquest into the death of Princess Diana began yesterday in England. There is a website which is providing daily transcripts of the entire proceeding, plus has the evidence exhibits, etc.

Here is a link to the website for anyone who is interested:

This is great AS! Thank you! My first question was how long was it going to be and I went to the FAQ. Ans 4 months.

Are you following it? Just wondering whose testimony would be the best since I can't commit full time. I'm curious as to why they embalmed Diana immediately. According to AlFeyed (sp?) that was to destroy evidence that she was pregnant.

Yes, I will follow it. I have no idea who all is going to testify. I did read the opening statements by the Coroner - which apparently took most of the day today.

The French witnesses will go to a Police Station in France and will testify by video telconferencing equipment - so that they don't have to travel to England. And interpreters will be used, of course.

This coming Monday the jurors will take a field trip to France, will be driven through the tunnel after dark so they can see what the area looked like at night.

Within his statement, the Coroner stressed that this is not a criminal trial, that the purpose of the inquest is for this jury to make a final legal determination of what caused Diana's death.

Within the exhibits there are also some newly released photos at the site. Crashed car photos and one of the car as it left the Ritz Hotel that night, taken through the front windshield. It clearly shows the driver, the bodyguard and Diana in the back seat with her head turned, looking out the rear window of the car.

Anyone here think it was some kind of conspiracy and it went wrong?

I think 100% it was a conspiracy and it went exactly as it was planned. I believe there were people doing cartwheels when Diana was pronounced dead.

I believe that excessive speed and a driver that was drunk was to blame for the crash. Not the first time it has happened and not the last.

There has already been two inquiries that came to the same conclusion, now a third. But for Dodi Dad nothing will change his mind.

No. It was a stupid accident. If she'd been wearing her seat belt, she'd still be here.

I think the royal family is relieved that they don't have the drama and defiance of Diana anymore. But there was no conspiracy, imo, just a car accident. I agree, a seatbelt could have saved her life.

I'm only guessing, but it may be that French law required embalming before the body could be removed from the country. I know that when my father died in Indiana, he had to be embalmed before we could take him to Illinois for burial.

But everyone who knew her said she always buckled up.

I'm not sure what you mean eve?
Is there a theory out there that she was wearing a seatbelt?
I always thought she wasn't wearing one.
This morning, Fox news showed a picture of the 4 of them in the car minutes before the accident. Diana was turned around in the back seat looking out the back window. It didn't look to me as if she were wearing a seatbelt.
But I could be wrong.

I read several articles and one book in which it was alleged that the seat belts had been tampered with, causing them to not fasten properly. Many many people who knew her she she was a fanatic about "belting up," especially given the chasing paparazzi.

I think they will hide the fact that she was pregnant. I believe she wanted this baby since her boys were "owned" by the royal family. She was a good mother, and was very much a threat to the royal family and all their UGLY secrets. Yeah, they wanted her dead, and the way the queen treated her in death greatly disappointed me. SHE(the queen) is a ROYAL B*TCH ...IMO.

Eve, ok thanks, I never heard that about the seatbealts.
It was reported on one of the morning shows that the cororner already determined that Diana was not pregnant.
