The Dixie Chicks

I am not nursing a grudge. Just would rather spend my Money somewhere else that is all.Kind of like when people ask you to boycott something. Same thing here.

Understood, JDB. And of course I support your right to do that. I hope I didn't give anybody the impression I didn't.

(BTW, thanks for the lengthy discussion. I love ideas and I'm always interested to hear ideas other than my own.)

Well, most of us don't get to say anything to George W. Bush's face. In fact, he's pretty famous for insulating himself from all opposition.

Perhaps the Chicks just didn't get your memo on territorial appropriateness, on precisely what may be said at each moment in each venue.

And if they didn't repeat that precise sentence, they have said similar things in many venues, here and abroad. In fact they are still saying such things, despite paying dearly for being right about the war. If you think they were cowards 3 years ago, you must think they are heroes today.

The fact that everyone speaking against the Chicks seems to go through mental gymnastics trying to characterize the Chicks' "crime," argues strongly that some other factor is involved. So does that fact that so many are still nursing this grudge after 3 years.

Yeah, you're right about that. They're still pissing plenty of people off no matter where they go. LOL Hey, its a free country. They're not my cup of tea, so unless something else they say is equally as horrible as what we've been discussing here, I'll probably be the last to know.

I have to revive the thread, Natalie is at her big mouth ways again. I just wish she would grow up, she trashes the town we live in, which is her right as an American, but she tells lies in the process. If you're going to do it at least tell the truth.:behindbar

As someone here said...She was born middle finger first!

There's a thread somewhere about this...in fact, I thought it was on this thread, but it doesn't appear so.

They are fools. They can believe what they want, but everytime they open theirs mouths, they are shooting themselves in the wallet!

Yep, exactly why I didn't call into my radio station to win tickets to a concert here. At this point, I'm showing the Dixie Chicks...my middle finger.

I'm sure we get more coverage on it since Natalie was born and raised here. Our local news shows it every time she opens her gigantic mouth. This last time really got to me because her statement referenced the whole city and it was untrue. BTW, per her comment quoted below- I wouldn't shoot anyone.:loser:

Example from :
http://www.kcbd.com/Global/story.asp?S=5424848&nav=menu69_3

On September 13th, after the documentary's premiere Natalie Maines took a hit on the Hub, telling the Vancouver Sun... Quote, "But if you live in Lubbock, Texas, where I'm from -- you just have one paper and one radio station... And unless you're savvy on the Internet - that's it for you. If Bush said get a gun and kill an Arab, they would do that." -end quote.

LOL...That's good. At the rate they are going, they're going to have to give away all the seats...they sure can't seem to fill them by selling them to their fans! Or the few that they seem to have left.

I won't spend another dime on anything they are involved with. I don't agree with what they have to say...and am voicing my opposition by not lining their wallets any longer.

Wow, wouldn't you love to live in Lubbock? I'll bet they have lost a few fans on that comment.

We do live in Lubbock :D and they have lost many fans, our local stations still do not play their music. Yes, we have more than one radio station, over 30 in fact. LOL

I still like them but Natalie is taking it too far. She's keeping the pot stirred and doesn't seem willing to move on.

Well, "big mouth" got that wrong. I can see why your local stations quit playing their music. Even if you only had one radio station, that was a tacky thing to say (and in such a put-down fashion). They should re-name themselves as The Dumb Chicks. They grew this, now they have to chew it...but it seems like they are surprised that people are offended by their remarks. lol

And it doesn't seem like she's going to stop. It's fine to have convictions...but she's going way overboard. When you start calling other musicians names, put-down your hometown, and call the president a $%#^, you've got problems. Heck, I didn't care one little bit for Clinton, but I do respect the office. I would have been offended if she'd said the things she said about Bush about Clinton.

She's wacko. What is it about money and fame that make these people think that their views are much more important than these rest of us "average" folks?

I don't believe any of the Chicks have ever said their views are more important than yours.

But if they did, maybe it would stem from the press and posters at this forum hanging on their every word.

I dont think anyone here is "hanging on their every word" We are simply posting what THEY have said. Its news just like most of the stuff on these threads. They are "celebrities" that happens things get repeated and talked about.

Now Nova, you know you and I have wrestled over this exact issue before! I think entertainers should do just that, entertain. I pay my chunk of change to hear them sing "Earl" not give me their "enlightened" opinions. I am a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and he often writes songs that express his views on things political. That is totally ok with me, he is using his medium to express his opinion in a creative way. I think the Chick's new song, was in that same vein,, can't remember the name, sorry, This song was sufficient to let the world know how they feel. I think now they are beating a dead horse (or maybe a lame duck) for all the attention it brings. JMEO
